9 9 my Identity Customer Scenario Cyber Attack A customer inadvertently clicks on a link in a suspicious and their computer powers off every 15 minutes. What coverage does the customer receive with my Identity? Answer: We will reimburse expenses incurred to repair or replace the computer hardware and software, and to restore data.
10 10 my Identity Customer Scenario Cyber Extortion A customer receives a phone call from someone claiming to be an employee of their internet service provider. Under the guise of security, they request to access their computer remotely. After the customer grants access, they are locked out of their computer and the person on the phone demands $750 to unlock it. What coverage does the customer receive with my Identity? Answer: We will reimburse the fees for a computer specialist to respond to the cyber extortion, as well as the costs to repair or replace the computer hardware and software and to restore the data. Note: We will not reimburse any extortion or ransom payments made by the customer or anyone else on their behalf.
11 11 my Identity This service includes: Legal assistance to a customer involved in a consumer dispute Reimbursement of expenses up to $25,000 per occurrence including: Costs to notarize affidavits or similar documents Expert, court and police report fees Legal fees and expenses to pursue or defend a lawsuit Telephone and postal/courier expenses Limitations and eligibility for expense reimbursement apply
12 12 my Identity Customer Scenario #1 During a high-pressure, door-to-door sales situation, a customer is duped into signing a contract for a service they do not need or want. What recourse does my Identity provide the customer? Answer: We will provide the customer with legal advice and reimburse legal fees and expenses incurred to pursue or defend a lawsuit to get the customer out of the contract.
13 13 my Identity Customer Scenario #2 A customer gave a contractor $5,000 to fix her deck and the contractor vanished without completing the job. What recourse does my Identity provide the customer? Answer: my Identity covers construction work and/or advice about the design, planning, building or structural change to the residential dwelling or premises with a contract value up to $15,000 if there is a written contract between the customer and the service provider. If the customer requires full legal representation or advice, my Identity would cover up to $25,000 for legal fees and expenses to pursue or defend covered lawsuits.
14 14 my Identity The fine print Occurrence If there is an act or series of acts involving consumer disputes, cyber attacks/ extortions or identity theft arising at different times from the same originating cause, it is considered one occurrence Legal fees $250 / hr $5,000 / lawsuit Legal fees will be reimbursed up to $250/hr Legal fees for small claims court lawsuits will be reimbursed up to $5,000 per occurrence
15 15 my Identity Exclusions Expense reimbursements do not apply to any situations where: The customer participated in fraudulent, dishonest or criminal acts The legal issue is clearly without grounds The customer has already been compensated for or is seeking compensation elsewhere It relates to the customer s trade, profession, occupation, employment or business venture
