1 Sacramento City College Fall 217 Professional Development Week and Convocation Satisfaction Survey Q1 Please rate the following aspects of the Fall 217 Convocation program Answered: 73 Skipped: Breakfast Introductio n of New Faculty, Staff, a... Chancellor King's Address President Gutierrez's Address Convocation Showcase Overall Convocation Program Breakfast N/A TOTAL WEIGHTED AVERAGE 8.22% % % % % Introduction of New Faculty, Staff, and Management 35.62% % % % % Chancellor King's Address 46.58% % % 7.% 5.48% President Gutierrez's Address 57.53% % % 5.% 5.48% Convocation Showcase 38.89% % % % % Overall Convocation Program 33.33% % % 6.% 2.78% # COMMENTS: DATE 1 Chancellor King gets extra credit for such a great talk while President Gutierrez gets extra credit also. 9/4/217 3:3 PM 2 The 9: start time was appreciated. 9/1/217 1:22 PM 3 In the future, if the Chancellor is going to be late, the program should continue in his absence or at least have a filler planned for if that happens. I really enjoyed the introduction to President Gutierrez and the facts that he (a) still kept to his time even though it was shortened and (b) believes in service and is living in SCC service area! I look forward to his leadership! 9/1/217 7:48 AM 4 It was well prepared, and smoothly operated. 8/31/217 4:3 PM 5 I appreciated the hands-on ability to meet my co-workers and speak to them about the programs they offer that I can offer to students. 8/31/217 4:3 PM 6 One of the best! Didn't drag on forever! 8/31/217 4:19 PM 7 Keep up the good work. 8/31/217 2:52 PM 1 / 13
2 8 I thought the show case was very good. I was at the breakfast at 8: and most everything was gone. It seemed like less was put out this year. 9 Would suggest that new staff / faculty names be reviewed for correct pronunciation before presentation. 1 I VERY much liked the two rooms full of campus services and programs. It was a very useful insight that faculty often do not get. I would love to do it again in a couple of years. 8/29/217 1:16 PM 8/28/217 3:8 PM 8/25/217 2:53 PM 11 rated a 3 rather than a 2 because the program was short, and that is a good thing 8/25/217 11:17 AM 12 I liked the change this year to have different tables about campus services and programs. There needs to be someone to assist whoever is introducing new faculty, staff, and management; it seems too difficult to manage saying names and continue the presentation at the same time. 13 The Showcase was a great way to learn more about the different programs & services as well as to meet faculty & staff in these areas. Recommend to repeat at least once more. 14 I was waiting for Michael G. to tell us his vision, at least from the 3, foot level. I have no idea where and what he would like to see happen. We need a commanding leader that is not afraid to take chances and to say encouraging and sincere words. I hope that is coming soon. 15 I enjoy seeing the new faculty, often it is the only time I see them. I thought it was to fast. By the time you heard the name read, looked at the picture and title then person, the next name had been called. Not personal enough. 16 Bagels but no cream cheese...really? Only butter and no jam. Bagels with butter... How disappointing. :( 8/23/217 4:15 PM 8/23/217 1:16 PM 8/23/217 12:57 PM 8/23/217 12:47 PM 8/23/217 12:15 PM 17 Best Convocation yet! 8/23/217 12:11 PM 18 I arrived for the breakfast thirty minutes after it started, and there were no muffins, just cold bagels. Virtually all of the fruit was gone, too. 8/23/217 12:1 PM 19 I like the convocation and showcase. First time in two years I was able to go. 8/23/217 11:51 AM 2 Brian King's and President Gutierrez's address were highly engaging! 8/23/217 11:42 AM 21 Short and simple 8/23/217 11:4 AM 2 / 13
3 Q2 Based on Chancellor King's Convocation address, please share your level of interest in regard to participating in a district-wide convocation. Answered: 73 Skipped: 15.94% (11) 37.68% (26) 2.29% (14) 26.9% (18) Very interested Interested Somewhat interested Not interested VERY INTERESTED INTERESTED SOMEWHAT INTERESTED NOT INTERESTED TOTAL WEIGHTED AVERAGE Interest 37.68% % % % # IF AT ALL INTERESTED, WHAT TOPICS WOULD YOU LIKE ADDRESSED DURING A DISTRICT-WIDE CONVOCATION? 1 Always is good to hear how the Los Rios District doing. 9/5/217 7:39 AM DATE 2 I would rather see the money spent on getting the math department a copy machine that is not dead or slowly courting death. 3 I want data on why students don't stay in classes and/or persist across terms. I'd like to see these variables correlated with the reasons given: GPA, income, # hours worked per week, responsibility for children or elders in the home, # of credits attempted, when enrolled in classes first time (planned or last minute scramble), what triggered decision to attend in the first place, career goals and how well-developed, class attendance records, transportation, food, housing, or personal safety issues, textbook purchase and use, assessed or acquired level of basic skills (reading, writing, math) at point of decision to drop or not re-enroll, level of classes taken with outcomes for each level, participation in special support programs-summer Bridge, Puente, EOP & S, etc, DSPS status 9/4/217 3:3 PM 9/1/217 4:5 PM 4 Need to know more about what the expected outcome is. 9/1/217 4:32 PM 5 FLC is WAY too far away from Sacto. to meet as a district. Bad idea. Also, there is not much common interest between so many disciplines at multiple locations. But there is a LOT of interest for LRCCD-wide department meetings, specific to teaching discipline. 6 Faculty retention plans, what is the district wide process to increase diversity in science and allied health division for students and faculty 7 The district plan for some of our initiatives as well as strategic stances on public policy. I would also like to hear about (or have planning time for) collaborative efforts of the 4 schools regarding state initiatives (IEPI, Student Equity, SSSP, BSI). 9/1/217 2:16 PM 9/1/217 1:4 AM 9/1/217 7:48 AM 3 / 13
4 8 - Legislation that will affect the district and college - College wide discussions in the form of workshops where we can come together as a division, departments, and programs to share efforts that deal with current trends and issues in our industries. 9 Equity/Diversity Student enrollment SCC and community involvement per Educational field that would enhance enrollment within 2 years. 1 Equity - examples of how the needle has been moved. What issues do we need to address? Equity and Pathways - how do they integrate? 8/31/217 4:3 PM 8/31/217 2:52 PM 8/28/217 3:8 PM 11 My only hesitation is the cost of renting a place large enough. 8/28/217 2:7 PM 12 Tips for taking care of ourselves during the semester - avoiding burnout, work-life balance. 8/26/217 7:14 AM 13 Not sure, I'm new to the district but also enjoyed talking with faculty from other colleges in my previous district. 14 communication among departments - for example: district-wide departments meet up for discussions 8/25/217 11:46 AM 8/25/217 11:17 AM 15 Alignment of pre-requisites for different CTE programs across our 4 colleges 8/24/217 4:47 PM 16 temp staff contract..why 11 days, student jobs, salary increase for student wages, housing for students 8/23/217 5:41 PM 17 Will this include an opportunity for departments and divisions across the district to get together? 8/23/217 4:15 PM 18 items of interest/concern to the district employees as a whole 8/23/217 3:36 PM 19 Prefer to focus on our own campus. During flex week, we already meet with our counterparts from our sister colleges. 8/23/217 1:16 PM 2 Always look forward to what he has to share. 8/23/217 12:47 PM 21 How to diversify career programs so that students have more choices of technical fields and transfer courses. 8/23/217 12:15 PM 22 Getting Departments together that are shared by more than one sister college. 8/23/217 12:11 PM 23 My interest depends on the topics discussed, and I don't know enough about the community college issues (at this time in my position) to suggest any. Perhaps circulate a list of possible topics and ask for input when the time nears. 8/23/217 11:42 AM 4 / 13
5 Q3 Based on your conversations during the Convocation showcase, please share any specific areas or topics in need of follow-up. Answered: 17 Skipped: 56 # RESPONSES DATE 1 none. 9/1/217 2:16 PM 2 Serving the needs of Asian/Pacific Islander students 9/1/217 1:22 PM 3 A. The organization could be improved by signs of the topics or areas relating to discussions and handouts. B. Each table should have either paperclips, a stapler machine, or have the handouts already together, in some form. It was awkward with so many loose handouts and no way to differentiate them (I observed a frustration from so many loose handouts). THIS IS NOT A CRITISISM BUT A SUGGESTION FOR EASIER FLOW AND FILING IN OUR OFFICES, IN SEPARATING TO ASSIST OUR STUDENTS. 8/31/217 4:3 PM 4 - Community of Care and the new internships - IEPI areas 8/31/217 4:3 PM 5 n/a 8/28/217 3:8 PM 6 There are way too many initiatives going on. I'm having fatigue. 8/28/217 2:7 PM 7 I would like more information on some of the student programs like RISE. 8/28/217 11:23 AM 8 N/A 8/24/217 4:47 PM 9 this question does not make any sense to me 8/23/217 5:41 PM 1 Since it is often difficult to meet with administrators, each of them could host thirty minute "fireside chats" so they can talk about their vision and the audience has an opportunity to ask questions. 8/23/217 4:15 PM 11 NA 8/23/217 1:16 PM 12 more time, after the social aspect, everyone should do another round and ask more work related questions. 8/23/217 12:57 PM 13 Please F/U on how the pathway results are going. 8/23/217 12:47 PM 14 I thought it was very informative and had lots of fun. 8/23/217 12:26 PM 15 Pathways is something I am interested in, but it would be helpful to have specialists from other colleges who have implemented their own plans successfully. 8/23/217 12:15 PM 16 n/a 8/23/217 11:42 AM 17 Pathways 8/23/217 11:4 AM 5 / 13
6 Q4 During this Fall 217 Professional Development (flex) Week there were workshops focusing on a variety of topics. Please rate the overall quality/effectiveness of these sessions on a scale of 4 (exemplary) to 1 (inadequate). I think presenters should be aware that it is possible to say something that sounds good, but is completely illogical. 9/4/217 3:3 PM 2 - Equity mindedness and instructional strategies for effective teaching, learning, and service to students 8/31/217 4:3 PM 3 ARC 8/31/217 2:52 PM 4 The ones I attended were very helpful. 8/25/217 2:53 PM 5 As a new faculty, I attended the district and the college orientations. Unfortunately, I was so busy preparing for the start of the semester, I was not able to attend any additional workshops. 8/25/217 11:46 AM 6 The Canvas workshop was excellent, but the the hiring training was not 8/25/217 11:17 AM 7 lots of great events 8/23/217 5:41 PM 8 This semester did not seem to offer a diverse list of FLEX opportunities 8/23/217 3:36 PM 9 Unable to attend local workshops due to meetings. 8/23/217 1:16 PM 1 I was at off campus flex and flex specific to groups I'm involved with. I didn't shop for any flex activities. 8/23/217 12:1 PM 11 n/a 8/23/217 11:42 AM 6 / 13

I was late to all but my first presentation at 9 am, and I went to back-to-back sessions until 3:3. That is really ineffective. Some people may feel like they need to choose and not go to workshops because of that. 7 These were hard to attend with all the department meetings in my department. Is there a way to make these programs online and more friendly for participating online after hours or on the weekend? 9/1/217 7:48 AM 8/26/217 7:14 AM 8 rating for Quality of Canvas workshop only 8/25/217 11:17 AM 9 There were some workshops I wanted to attend, but couldn't because they overlapped. Instead of the majority of workshops on Thursday, they could be spread out across the week more. 1 Would like to see the CanInnovate split into 2 days or longer day with less choices for each timeframe. Or have the ability to obtain information still. Too many interesting topics to choose from. 8/23/217 4:15 PM 8/23/217 1:16 PM 11 n/a 8/23/217 11:42 AM 7 / 13

The different calendar views made it easy to plan me workshops. 8/31/217 6:23 PM 5 I appreciate its digital responsiveness 8/31/217 4:3 PM 6 I like the many choices and opportunities to pick and choose from. 8/31/217 2:52 PM 7 The new PD Week website looks great! 8/28/217 3:8 PM DATE 8 It's getting better all the time; it used to be very hard to get info and now it's both accessible and clear. 8/25/217 2:53 PM 9 I was able to put items on my calendar - this was good 8/25/217 11:17 AM 1 I used it once to find a room 8/23/217 5:41 PM 11 I liked the new format! It was easy to navigate. 8/23/217 4:15 PM 12 I had trouble printing out just the list of workshops back in May. 8/23/217 1:16 PM 13? PD 8/23/217 12:47 PM 14 I had to click a lot more than before. It isn't streamlined because you have to open Thursday as a separate day anyway. 8/23/217 12:36 PM 15 I feel it is hard to find what you need. It is also difficult to print anything. 8/23/217 12:11 PM 16 It needs to be finalized earlier. 8/23/217 12:1 PM 8 / 13

Answered: 1 Skipped: 63 # RESPONSES DATE 1 I think it would be nice to have a series of light yoga or de-stressing activities. But I have no idea what that would look like or a time that would draw a lot of people. 9/1/217 7:48 AM 2 A workshop to help students balance work time, classwork, study time, to minimize stress on students. 8/31/217 4:3 PM 3 IEPI 8/31/217 4:3 PM 4 I would like more specific workshops on how to help students with immigration issues. 8/28/217 11:23 AM 5 Some topics that might be useful include PowerPoint tips, work and excel formatting.
