Read the instructions carefully for each question and answer only what is required. 3. Begin with the question for which you think you'll get the best marks. 4. Number the answers correctly according to the numbering system used in this question paper. 5. The mark allocation of each question will determine the length of your answer. Give enough facts to earn the marks allocated. Don't waste time by giving more information than required. 6. Please write neatly we cannot mark illegible handwriting. 7. Start the answer for each question on a NEW page, for example Question 1 new page, Question 2 new page. 8. Non-programmable calculators and appropriate mathematical instruments may be used. 9. Any student caught cheating will have his or her examination paper and notes confiscated. The College will take disciplinary measures to protect the integrity of these examinations. 10. 3 ANSWER ALL THE QUESTIONS (75 MARKS) QUESTION Content information on the label of a jar of peanut butter is as follows: Per 100 g Total fat Sodium Calcium Magnesium Potassium 48 g 217 mg 54 mg 158 mg 609 mg Calculate the total mass of Potassium, Sodium, Calcium and Magnesium and express it as a percentage. (3) Calculate the amount of fat in two tablespoons, 32 g, of peanut butter. Round off to ONE decimal place. (2) 1.2 The label of a wine bottle indicates that the amount of alcohol is 12,5% per volume. If the volume of wine in the bottle is 750 ml how much of it is alcohol? (2) 1.3 A car travels 300 km in two hours and 50 minutes. What is its speed in km/h? Round off to the nearest kilometre. (3) 1.4 Laundry detergent on a supermarket shelf is priced as follows: 1 R18,00; 19,80; and 2,5 R33,50. Which one is the best buy?
