7 Understanding Utility Rates The Supply charge shown on the bill (the Price-To-Compare), includes the following components: Generation Transmission Capacity Reconciliation All these components are blended together and shown on the bill as the Basic Generation Service, or BGS, charge. Charges for these components vary based on the customers electricity usage, so that the first batch of kwh used are billed at one rate, and any use above that is billed at a different rate (example shown to the right). All NJ utilities have rates which reset annually on June 1. These rates are comprised of a winter rate and a summer rate PSE&G Sample Bill

PSE&G: Sample Bill PoD ID: This is the 20 digit number, starting with PE, which is needed in order to switch the customer over to Viridian Even after the customer switches to Viridian, PSE&G will

This is the charge for generation, including the cost of the transmission from generation facilities to the local distribution system. This will show the Viridian Rate. 10

13 PSE&G, ACE, and JCP&L : Enrolling Customers Required information from bill: PSE&G PoD ID: This is the 20 digits, starting with PE and followed by 18 numbers, which is needed in order to switch the customer over to Viridian ACE Account Number: This is a 12 digit number found on the right of the bill, under Electric Delivery Summary, which is needed in order to switch the customer over to Viridian JCP&L Customer Number: This is the 20 digit number, located in the charge breakdown section of the bill, which is needed in order to switch the customer over to Viridian PLEASE NOTE, This is not the same as the account number at the top of the bill. The account number is not needed, only the customer number is needed! Errors in this information will cause the utility to reject the enrollment! 13
