6 Mui Wo OWLS School Kindergarten Section Mui Wo OWLS Kindergarten School Registration process The registration process is as follows: The application is handed in with the application fee ($40) and Coordination fee ($970) for one session or ($1,570) for the 2 sessions. Prior to acceptance into OWLS, an assessment is arranged for a short period in the Kindergarten class. You are also welcome to do a short tour of the school at this time. Within one week the parents are contacted to confirm the child s position in Kindergarten. At this stage the full checklist and fees are payable. Terms and Conditions 2016/2017 1) All new students are required to pay an application fee of $40 and Coordination fee of $970 for one session or $1,570 for the 2 sessions. Our basic annual Kindergarten fees are as follows:- 1a) HK$40,650 for each school year session. 1b) HK$65,450 for both 1 st and 2 nd session (equivalent to 3 hrs and 2 hrs). 1c) The fees are payable in 10 installments of HK$4,065 or $6,545 due on the 1 st of each school month. 2) Students are required to purchase an annual school package. The 2016/2017 Kindergarten annual package = HK$2,200 3) Once a child s place is confirmed, an initial deposit of one installment is due to hold their place. This fee is non refundable within the first 4 months until December 31st. 4) If for whatever reason the registration is cancelled before the end of December the deposit will not be refunded. 5) Other than in exceptional circumstances, deposits will be refunded during the 1st week of July of the academic year the child leaves Mui Wo OWLS School. 6) If a child is absent from school for whatever reason, no refund or deduction can be made. 7) Fees are charged on an annual basis with the provision that they are paid in 10 installments. They are not to be perceived as a monthly fee i.e. even if a child is absent for most of a month, that month s fee installment remains payable. 8) Parents experiencing financial difficulties are asked to write to us explaining their situation before fee payment deadlines. They will be asked to meet with the

7 supervisor to discuss their case. 9) The school sponsors some scholarship places in all streams. Applications for a scholarship will be considered on a case by case basis. 10) Notice of withdrawal must be given in writing at least 2 full calendar months (partial months will not count) in advance of the withdrawal. In the event of unforeseen eventualities, parents are asked to contact the school as soon as possible. (Extra notice will allow us to advise parents of children on the waiting list of possible openings.) Failure to give 2 calendar months notice reserves the right for OWLS School to charge for those two months. 11) It is understood that Mui Wo OWLS School reserves the right to hold back any or all of the deposit against the shortfall of withdrawal notice given. 12) The annual tuition fee approved at the time of full registration may be reviewed in case of unforeseen circumstances. Such review can only take place according to the strict regulations of the Education Bureau. 13) We require that full fees are paid by auto pay through HSBC. 14) Fees must be paid and cleared by the 5th banking day of each month. Fees paid later than 31 days after due date, will be subject to a 5% surcharge, rising to a 10% surcharge for two months in arrears. Should fees remain outstanding for more than a month, the school reserves the right to ask for a student s withdrawal. 15) Parents of existing students must inform the school not later than 31st March of their intent to remain at the school the following year to guarantee that their child s place is held. Parents should complete a registration form, and pay the annual school package fee 2 months in advance i.e. no later than 1 st July preceding the September admission. 16) Children may be placed on a waiting list at any age. To be placed on the waiting list, the application and Coordination fee (HK$40 + HK$970 one session or HK$1,570 two sessions) must be paid. 17) Mui Wo OWLS School reserves the right to give priority to students in the following order: a) to the existing students b) to the siblings of existing students c) to those registered first 18) Parents and legal guardians of children attending Mui Wo OWLS School agree that they will not hold the school, the teachers or any member of staff responsible for any and all losses, costs, expenses and course of action arising from an incident or accident during their child s attendance at school. 19) Parents or legal guardians of children attending Mui Wo OWLS School are advised to

8 subscribe to a suitable Insurance Policy covering Public Liability, Personal Injury and Damage to Property. 20) It is understood that OWLS may at times use photographs of the students for promotional purposes.
