1 IIBM NEWSLETTER Volume No. 1 Issue No. 2 October 2018 Dear Reader We are happy to publish 2 nd issue of IIBM Newsletter to keep you informed about the key events that have taken place at IIBM Guwahati in the last month. This second issue of IIBM Newsletter will also keep you informed about the forthcoming training, research and other academic activities of the Institute. We look forward to your patronage and participation in our endeavour towards augmenting the knowledge and skills of personnel from banks and financial institutions. Dr. K Ramesha Director Specially designed Programme for North East Small Finance Bank Ltd In the month of September, IIBM organised a series of specially designed programme for North East Small Bank and the total number of beneficiary participants stood at 122. The main focus at the programme was on general
2 banking with thrust on branch banking and other aspects such as credit management, KYC & AML, types of customers/ deposits, need and strategy for deposit mobilization, banker customer relationship, basics of credit appraisal, agricultural lending, N.I. Act, payment system, IRAC norms & NPA management, asset liability management and risk management were also covered. These six programmes during the month of September were coordinated by Shri B K Biswal and B A Laskar, Faculty Members of IIBM. Programme on Group Mode Financing for Officers of AGVB: (September 12-14, 2018) The objective of the Programme on Group Mode Financing for officers of Assam Gramin Vikash Bank was to sensitize participants to the challenges facing my banks in today's dynamic world. The programme was inaugurated by Dr.K Ramesha, Director, IIBM and attended by Mr. A Das, GM, AGVB.
3 Shri Das exhorted the bankers to go an extra mile in financing SHGs as it would help the bank to build up a healthy credit portfolio. The programme was held at IIBM campus from September, The Programme Director was Shri Mayur Bora, Faculty Member, IIBM and 30 participants attended the program. The programme involved sessions in microfinance & SHG bank linkage, emotional intelligence, significance of SHG, priority sector lending for inclusive growth, importance of smack and micro loans to build up a healthy credit portfolio, issues relating to recovery and compromise settlement, and social security schemes for the rural households were also covered. On the last day of the programme the participants had the opportunity to interact with Shri Girish Dutta, Chief Manager, AGVB. Certificate Course for Debt Recovery Agents (September 24- October 06, 2018) IIBM has been conducting programme for the Debt Recovery Agents since 2009 under the title Certificate course for Debt Recovery Agents. IIBM has been conducting this programme on behalf of Indian Institute of Banking and Finance (IIBF). It is a 100 hours long duration programme where participants have to take an online examination conducted by IIBF after the completing the training programme. IIBF also issues certificates to all the participants who have completed training program. The main objective of the programme is to ensure that the participants are equipped with the operational aspects of commercial banking with special focus on structure of Indian banking system and their functions, deposit accounts, banker customer relationship, various types of loans, legal aspects of banking, Cheques and its features, retail products, NPA, KYC norms, Regulatory framework for debt recovery, communication skills, etc. The programme Director was Shri Mayur Bora and 18 participants attended the programme.
4 Executive Development Programme for Lady Officers of Banks and FIs (September 24-28, 2018) IIBM organised a programme on the Executive Development Programme for Lady Officers of Banks and FIs during September 24-28, Dr. K Ramesha, Director inaugurated the programme and addressed the participants. The programme received an overwhelming response from the financial community, which saw participation of over 38 participants from various banks and mainly from RBI. The programme involved sessions in navigating workplace communication, managing stress at work and home, art of public speaking, time management, health problems faced by working women, emotional intelligence and personal effectiveness, etc. The Programme Director was Ms. Namrata Shukla, Faculty Member, IIBM.
