Marketing Q Card & Q MasterCard Disclosure Guidelines 5 July 2016 With the introduction of a new product, Q MasterCard, we would like to take the opportunity to update you with what you will need to know about incorporating both Q Card and Q MasterCard into your advertising. This document contains some key information about the differences between Q Card and Q MasterCard, when the changes will occur, and some key guidelines for marketing both Q Card and Q MasterCard. We recommend that these Guidelines are read in conjunction with our Q MasterCard Merchant Style Guide. We set out here an overview of the content guidelines for advertising Q Card and Q MasterCard and the approval process. Please note that this is not an exhaustive list, as all advertising copy is different, things like your headline offer, surrounding content, context and the media you publish in will all impact the copy. Key Information and What it means for you Key Information What does it mean for you? We will be commencing a pilot on 28 June 2016 where Q MasterCard will be originated at one merchant (JB HiFi). You will start seeing the new Q MasterCard and Flexi Long Term Finance logo from 28 June. You will also be able to accept Q MasterCard from 28 June for Q Eftpos* and Long Term Finance (LTF) transactions. *provided you are a MasterCard merchant We anticipate full launch will occur 31 August From 28 June, marketing campaigns will include references to Q Card and Q MasterCard. Main product considerations: The Establishment Fee, Advance Fee, Account Fees and interest rate are the From 31 August we will stop originating new Q Cards. All new cards we issue will be Q MasterCard. Include the relevant Q MasterCard, Q Card, Flexi Long Term Finance logo lock-ups (see our new Q MasterCard Merchant Style Guide) and marketing wording to ensure clarity for customers. The disclosure terms will be similar for Q Card and Q MasterCard (see below). As the Q MasterCard involves the
same for Q Card and Q MasterCard; Q MasterCard customers can make cash withdrawals; Q MasterCard holders can make Contactless payments for MasterCard transactions. Q MasterCard can be used anywhere MasterCard is accepted around the world MasterCard brand, then MasterCard guidelines need to be followed. We have included some helpful do s and don ts below. As a general rule, we will be able to review the marketing material within the usual 48 hours turnaround including covering off the MasterCard brand approvals. However, there may be some times where we need to send marketing material directly to MasterCard for approval for example, some TVCs need to go to MasterCard for approval which could take up to 5 days for their approval. MasterCard Brand Do s and Don t MasterCard in Text Sense check: MasterCard is the brand. The Q MasterCard card is the product. Which is why it s important we distinguish the two. Here s how to make sure you re consistent. DO Ensure that MasterCard is used in the first and most prominent position of each page, when mentioning the card program e.g. Q MasterCard ; MasterCard is one word and has a capital M and a capital C. DON T Use MasterCard as a verb, as in MasterCard your gifts ; Use it as a plural, MasterCards ; Use it in possessive form, MasterCard s... ; Abbreviate, hyphenate or translate into another language. Disclaimers Sense check: It is important to include relevant legal information. Double check you ve got it right on every communication you oversee. DO Add this statement when the MasterCard name appears in text: MasterCard is a registered trademark of MasterCard International Incorporated. ; Include this when the MasterCard logo is used: MasterCard and the MasterCard Brand Mark are registered trademarks of MasterCard International Incorporated..
Card Face Design Reproduction on Marketing Materials Sense check: Marketing materials refer to any form of communication where MasterCard brands are featured. Overall, make sure the card art hasn t been distorted, isn t too small or too large, it s readable, that it has all the visual elements of a real MasterCard and it s not overcrowded. DO Show the entire card without distortion. DON T Distort or modify cards; Make one card bigger or more colourful than the others if you re showing multiple cards; Forget to show the full face if it s a single card GUIDELINES FOR TERMS AND CONDITIONS PART A CONTENT GUIDELINES Headline Checks: The following general guidelines are to be followed: The minimum spend, offer period/expiry date and any exclusions or specific conditions must be shown up-front within the headline offer. For example if the offer is restricted to in-store only then this must be clearly stated; Displaying a head-line offer beside or with visuals which are not available or do not meet the minimum spend are misleading; Advertising goods upfront or in close proximity to a finance offer must meet or exceed the minimum spend for the offer; The fine print should provide additional information about the offer, not place additional conditions or exclusions on the offer; Remember if you show the Q MasterCard card art then you will need to include MasterCard and the MasterCard Brand Mark are registered trademarks of MasterCard International Incorporated (space permitting). If you only display Q Card & Q MasterCard as acceptance marks: If you are simply showing our brands as payment types that are accepted in store, please follow the Style Guide and the MasterCard Do s and Don t above. Include MasterCard and the MasterCard Brand Mark are registered trademarks of MasterCard International Incorporated.

Rate and fees correct as at date of publication, subject to change. Offer only available to existing Cardholders. MasterCard and the MasterCard Brand Mark are registered trademarks of MasterCard International Incorporated. For Merchants who originate Q MasterCard and offer LTF: LONG TERM FINANCE PLANS Select the fine print that reflects the way you advertise LTF. Minimum payments of 3% of the monthly closing balance or $10 (whichever is greater) are required throughout interest free period. Paying only the minimum monthly payments will not fully repay the loan before the end of the interest free period. Standard Interest Rate, currently 25.25% p.a. applies to any outstanding balance at end of interest free period. Offer expires <<Insert Date>>. Lending criteria, fees, terms and conditions apply. Rate and fees correct as at date of publication, subject to change. <XX> months / days no payments and no interest* *No payments and no interest for XX months/days ( Payment Holiday ) is available on Flexi Payment Plans [for in-store purchases only] until <<Insert Date>>. <<Offer excludes>>. Rate and fees correct as at date of publication, subject to change. No payments and no interest until <MONTH YEAR>* *No payments and no interest until <MONTH YEAR> ( Payment Holiday ) is available on Flexi Payment Plans [for in-store purchases only] until <<Insert Date>>. <<Offer excludes>>. Minimum spend $<<Insert Amount>>. Annual Account Fee of $50 applies. New Cardholder fees - $55 Establishment ($3 PPSR Q Card only). Existing Cardholder fee - $35 Advance. Standard Interest Rate, currently 25.25% p.a. applies to any outstanding balance at end of Payment Holiday. Payment Holiday period may vary depending on Cardholder s payment cycle dates. Lending criteria, fees, terms and conditions apply. Rate and fees correct as at date of publication, subject to change. 1 The words New Cardholder fee - $55 Establishment Fee can be deleted where the merchant accepts Q Card or Q MasterCard for LTF Transaction, but does not originate Q MasterCard.
XX months / days no payments and no interest + a further XX months / days interest free* *No payments and no interest for XX months ( Payment Holiday ) and no interest for a further XX months is available on Flexi Payment Plans [for in-store purchases only] until <date>. <Offer excludes XXXX.> Minimum purchase $<amount>. Annual Account Fee of $50 applies. New Cardholder fees - $55 Establishment Fee ($3 PPSR Q Card only). Existing Cardholder fee - $35 Advance. Minimum payments of 3% of the monthly closing balance or $10 (whichever is greater) are required throughout interest free period. Paying only the minimum monthly payments will not fully repay the loan before the end of the interest free period. Standard Interest Rate, currently 25.25% p.a., applies to any outstanding balance at end of interest free period. Lending criteria, fees, terms and conditions apply. Rate and fees correct as at date of publication, subject to change. Additional Considerations: Sub-heading Language where the offer originates finance and the fine print is not in the same field of vision: ensure that minimum spend, expiry date and exclusions are shown up front; and the phrase Lending Criteria, Fees, Terms & Conditions Apply, see [xxxx] for full details ; the direction must be clear i.e.: page x, asterisks to fine print or similar. In-store Banners: Headline: [Limited Time Offer 2 /this weekend only], on purchases $999 and over, in-store only. [xxx] excluded See Counter for Details 3. Fine Print: Lending criteria, $50 Account Fee, Establishment and or Advance Fee applicable, terms and conditions apply. Minimum payments required throughout the interest free period. MasterCard and the MasterCard Brand Mark are registered trademarks of MasterCard International Incorporated. See counter for full details. TV & Radio Advertising: We understand that TV & Radio advertising are often restricted by length. Unfortunately advertising credit, particularly LTF offers will require sufficient space/time to ensure all necessary information is included. Content depending, the following will be required: Details of the finance offer; Offer period/dates; Exclusions; Fine print minimum requirements may vary depending on the offer but terms & conditions apply will not be sufficient. Credit advertising requires clarity of offer including fees. 2 This statement is only suitable if there is somewhere the customer can easily see/find out when the offer expires. Ideally the banner should specifically state offer period. 3 Confirmation that a) the information will be available at the counter will be required; and b) it contains correct finance offer terms and conditions providing full disclosure to consumer.
TV advertising includes visual and audio it will be insufficient to only include fine print in one medium. Prior to commencing any campaign, if you have any questions about copy for Q Card or Q MasterCard please call your Key Account Manager to discuss. We are always happy to help. Items to Consider: a) If the merchant charges a fee; it must be clearly disclosed; b) Are all exclusions disclosed?; c) Is this advert directed at existing cardholders only? i.e: the merchant does not originate, if so you may be able to remove items such as the reference to the Establishment Fee ; d) Have you reviewed the advert as a whole, is there anything that might be misleading to the average consumer?; e) Have you included MasterCard and the MasterCard Brand Mark are registered trademarks of MasterCard International Incorporated. f) The laws in relation to advertising credit go further than the Fair Trading Act and there is a prohibition on anything that is confusing ; g) Are there representations that must be substantiated prior to publication?; h) Avoid language that implies that finance will be guaranteed; as our finance products are subject to lending criteria. PART B APPROVAL PROCESS GUIDELINES We try our best to review and return copy sent for approval as fast as possible. With the introduction of MasterCard to our stable, the approval process will now include complying with additional MasterCard rules. Any advertising that involves TVCs on TV on Demand may require MasterCard approval. We will facilitate that on your behalf, however it should be noted that MasterCard require up to 5 business days to review. Please factor this into your planning. Our Standard KPIs are: MasterCard KPIs: 48 hours for standard copy; up to 5 Business Days (applicable for some TVCs) MasterCard and the MasterCard Brand Mark are registered trademarks of MasterCard International Incorporated
