We spend significant resources to provide you with the best and most secure products and services available. Despite our best efforts, we continue to see members fall victim to fraudsters who hoodwink them into divulging information about their accounts. Below are some of the most common types of fraud that members run across and need to watch out for. PC CLEANING The fraudster calls the member claiming to be from Microsoft and says they are receiving Windows errors that they can clean or fix for the member. Members who fall for this fraud allow the fraudster to remotely access the computer and their information is compromised. These are not legitimate calls and should be ignored. SOCIAL SCHEMING - The fraudster trolls social media looking for indications that the member is having legal troubles and claims to be able to represent them and make those problems go away. Across the country, members have paid millions of dollars to fraudsters, only to find out that all they get is a lighter bank account. CARD SKIMMING Skimmers are devices placed on self-service card readers (think ATM s or gas pumps) or devices used by someone who has the member s card for a legitimate transaction (think restaurants) that can read and store the card information to be sold on the internet later. We continually update our website with tips and articles to help members protect themselves against skimming. PHONY IRS CALL Typically used around tax time, members receive calls from a fraudster claiming to be from the IRS and tell the member that unless they make immediate payment, an arrest warrant will be issued. The IRS (check out irs.gov for the most up to date information) will not call you to demand immediate payment and will not threaten to bring police or other agencies to arrest you for not paying. ONLINE DATING FRAUD - In this fraud, a new-found friend ends up stranded somewhere (usually overseas) in need of money to get home. Plain and simple, it s a scam. We do all we can to help members from falling victim to these types of frauds. When we suspect possible fraud, we alert the member, however, we can t detect all possible cases. Please be vigilant and suspicious when something that sounds too good to be true is presented to you. Also, if you have concerns that your account has been compromised, please contact the credit union as soon as possible and we can help you reestablish secure passwords. Our Condolences to the Brooks Family NSWC Federal Credit Union extends our heartfelt condolences to the entire Brooks family and circle of friends on the passing of Frank E. Brooks. Mr Brooks, a founding member of NSWC Federal Credit Union, passed away March 26, 2016, and will be deeply missed by all who knew him. Frank and his wife, Mary Tyler, were two of the five original founders of the Credit Union.

3 A FINANCIAL PRIMER: Some Tips to Help Secure Your Financial Future Pay Yourself First Put another way, spend less than you earn! This is the most basic financial rule you ll never get ahead financially if you spend more than you earn. Turn saving and investing into a regular fixed monthly expense, just like your rent or your mortgage payment or a car payment. Consider having a fixed amount automatically deducted from your paycheck or checking account each month and placed into a savings or investment plan. As your salary increases, consider increasing the amount you automatically save and invest each month. Develop and Stick to a Budget A sound financial plan doesn t just invest money effectively it helps you get the money to save and invest in the first place! A budget is your spending plan, a way of tracking your cash flow, keeping track of what is coming in and what is going out. There are a wide variety of budgeting systems available, some of which are quite simple and others quite complex. Any budget, however, begins with tracking your income and expenses over several months. Become Financially Literate While you don t have to become a financial expert, you should develop an understanding of financial concepts such as these: The difference between saving and investing: Some people think these are one and the same, but they re not. The focus in saving is on preserving money that you accumulate over time. Investing, on the other hand, emphasizes accumulation through growth. The magic of compound growth: Compound growth is simply earnings paid on previous earnings. The magic appears over time. Risk and Reward: First off, let s understand that there is risk in saving and investing it can t be avoided. You could keep your savings in a mattress and the mattress could catch on fire! The key is to understand the different types of risk and the reward. Diversification: Diversification is a risk management technique that mixes a wide variety of investments within a portfolio. The rationale behind this technique contends that a portfolio of different kinds of investments will, on average, yield higher returns and pose a lower risk than any individual investment found within the portfolio. 4 Welcome to Online Banking Getting Started NSWC Federal Credit Union nswcfcu.org VIEW YOUR ACCOUNTS When you log in to online banking you can view all of your accounts and loans. From this page you can select each account and view detailed up-to-date transaction history, pending transactions, and deposits. TRANSFER FUNDS To transfer funds between your accounts select Transfers from the blue side menu and select Funds Transfer. You will then proceed to select your From and To accounts, the transfer amount, and the date of the desired transfer. You can also leave a memo for the transaction here or check to make the transaction a recurring transaction. To transfer funds to another member select Transfers from the blue side menu on your home page and select Member To Member Transfer. From here you will enter the information of the member receiving the payment, the transfer amount, and the date of the transfer. PERSONAL FINANCIAL TOOL Money Matters is a free personal finance management tool that allows you to set and follow a budget. See all of your finances in one place, including accounts at other financial institutions, set financial goals, and more! To access Money Matters, log in to online banking and click the Money Matters tab from the blue side menu on the left of your home page. You will be taken to a new page where steps will be given to walk you through updating your financial profile. ONLINE ACTIVITY The online activity tab allows you to quickly view any activity you do online like internal and external transfers, address changes, deposited checks, recurring transactions, and more! This is just your online activity. ATM transactions and debit card transactions will not show here. In addition to viewing these items, you can take actions like inquiring, editing or canceling recurring transfers, making copies of transactions, and printing the details. SERVICES Under the services tab you will find access to: online statements and e-documents, the option to reorder checks, place a stop payment on a check, and free access to TurboTax. New to online statements? No problem! Select the Statements option under the Services tab and you will be guided through the steps to sign up. You can then enjoy the convenience of free, paperless, and easy to access online statements. This section will also include your annual tax documents for quick reference. MOBILE BANKING Our mobile app, looks and feels just like our desktop version, so you will be able to do your banking from anywhere! Get our free mobile banking app trough the App Store or Google Play Store. Search NSWC Federal Credit Union and download! You can access your account info, set up transfers, pay bills, and enjoy many other features from the convenience of your hand-held device. Don t forget to rate our app! SETTINGS Under the settings tab you will find easy access to all of your account settings. Account Preferences: Assign nicknames to your accounts and place them in the viewing order you desire. Hint: if you use increments of 10, it will save you from having to reassign numbers as you add additional accounts in the future. Security Preferences: Change your password and/or login ID and edit all of your Secure Delivery Contact Information. Alerts: Set up , phone, or text message alerts for various account activities and notices. Text Enrollment: Enable and authorize text banking. Mobile Authorizations: Approve pending wire transfers. Address Change: Easily submit an address change form. HELP Looking for further help? You have multiple options! By selecting the Help tab from the blue side menu on your Online Banking home page you will have access to various instructions and frequently asked questions for all of your online banking features. We also have a Guide to Online Banking on our website under the Education tab along with a How to Navigate Online Banking video on the homepage. We are always here for you, if you would like to speak to a representative contact us directly at QUICK TIPS 1. In the top right hand corner of your Online Banking home page there is a red box that allows you to quickly access funds transfer, mobile deposit, quick Bill Pay, and TurboTax. 2. Having trouble with Touch ID? Login to your mobile banking app, select Menu, Settings, Security Preferences, and turn your Touch ID off. Once you have approved to turn it off turn it back on. This will reset your Touch ID! 3. If you are locked out of Online Banking and do not want to call us, wait 1 hour and select Forgot Password to reset yourself. 4. Mobile App won t open? If the loading circle on your phone keeps spinning, it could mean that your internet connection is too weak to open the app. 5. When logging into online banking, you will be prompted to have a Secure Access Code delivered to you in order verify authorization to the account. Do NOT select I have a Secure Access Code at this time. Instead select a method of delivery to receive the code, whether it is by phone or . This code is good for 10 minutes. Once you have received your code, place the code into the Secure Access Code box to continue to your online banking account.

5 Welcome to Bill Pay Available Anytime from Anywhere NSWC Federal Credit Union nswcfcu.org ONLINE BILL PAY When you are no longer owe or have a balance on a bill you can Bill Pay is the free bill payment software built into your home banking platform. To sign up for Bill Pay login to online banking and select the Bill Payment tab from the blue side menu on the left of your home screen. Add a Payee To add a payee click the blue button on the top left of the screen. Once you add your payees this is what your dashboard will look like. Here you will see the name of the payee, the last 4 digits of the payee account number and how the payment will be made. They can be paid by check, electronically or you can set up an ebill. If you have more than one account set up under the Pay from column, you will be able to choose what account you will be using to pay your bill from the dropdown menu. The amount column allows you to specify the payment amount you would like to send. In the next column, Payment date, enter the date the bill is due, this is not the day you want the payment to process, by selecting the due date the Bill Pay system will automatically choose the processing date based on your chosen delivery method. For checks, your payment will be processed 7-10 business days prior to the due date. You can set your payment to recur by selecting the Frequency' drop down menu and choosing how often you would like the payment to recur. You can access your past and pending payments to the right of the Payments box pictured above. To view your bill pay history, click the view more option on the right side of the page next to History. You can view up to 12 months of Bill Pay history by selecting the History prior to 3/15/2016 at the top of the History page. To view pending payments go back to your Payments page and click the view more option to the right side of the page next to Pending. You can select to view Next 30 Days or Next 60 Days or you can enter a date range in the calendar drop downs. Demos Federally insured by NCUA hide it from your Pay to, or payee, list or make it inactive by just clicking on the minus sign (-) in front of the payee name. You will then see 1 inactive or 1 hidden in the display menu above the payee section. To reactivate the payee, click on the word inactive or hidden and click the plus sign (+) to place it back in the payee list. Transfers has been renamed as Pay a Person This is a new service that will allow you to pay a person directly. You have the options of sending it electronically, which is the quickest way, with only 1-2 days or by check which can take up to 7 days to arrive. To make this transfer will need the person s (recipient s) name, address, address and phone number. If you are sending by direct deposit or by check you will also need their routing and bank account number. Gift Pay Gift Pay allows you to send gift checks and charitable donations with just a few clicks! With a gift check you can send money from your account in the form of a check and choose from various different greeting card occasions and designs. After entering the recipient s name and address, choosing an amount, and selecting a card design you can then enter a personalized message to be printed within the card. The card and check will then be sent to the designated recipient for only $2.99! You can also send donations to your chosen charity or organization. With this feature you can send a personalized message about your donation using up to 4 addresses and receive a copy for tax purposes for only $1.99. You also have the option to send a standard donation without these features and schedule the donation as a payment at no additional cost. My Account This tab contains a lot of useful information, so make sure you keep it updated. In this section you can add an additional checking account for paying your bills. If you move or change your phone number you can make your update to the Personal Information section. This is also where you would add a mobile number to receive text alerts that you will setup in the Bill Pay Alerts section. Help Who doesn t need a little help once in a while? This area has FAQ and video demos for everything related to Bill Pay. If you would like additional support you have three contact options!
