1 SET-PLAN IMPLEMENTATION The Steering Group of the SET-Plan in its last meeting on October 28 th, 2010 agreed to speed-up the execution of activities of the Implementation Plans (IPs) of the European Industrial Initiatives (EIIs). It was decided to collectively identify the possibilities for launching joint actions between Member States and/or Member States and the European Commission. The mapping exercise carried out through this questionnaire builds upon this decision of the Steering Group. It aims to identify topics for leveraging best ongoing efforts with complementary joint actions, as prioritized by the Implementation Plans. In this phase the mapping will focus on projects and activities with a total budget higher than 1 M. We trust that you also consider the success of this exercise important for the immediate implementation of the SET-Plan. Integrated with business and technical systems, the InovGrid solution will achieve essential energy related goals customer/producer centric approach, quality of service, environmental sustainability while definitively benefiting stakeholders in general. PROJECT GOALS & OBJECTIVES Goals: Indicate main qualitative goals Rev. 1 January 2011 Page 2 of 6 InovGrid s main goals are: (1) Increase consumer s opportunities in the electricity market, implementing conditions for the creation of new services, innovator tariff systems, and for two way interaction between consumers and the DSO; (2) Improve the conditions for electricity market liberalization, facilitating the appearance of more commercialization companies developing new products and services; (3) Implement DSM strategies, reducing peak load consumptions on the grid and enabling an easier match between demand and supply; (4) Improve supply reliability, enhancing energy sources diversification and increasing embedded generation; (5) Promote a more efficient renovation of electrical grids and grid management systems, implementing investments that enhance reliability and efficiency, and increasing the capabilities of remote control and automation systems. InovGrid will provide benefits for the stakeholders

3 related with the electrical power system: (1) Consumer/Producers will benefit from a more efficient grid management system; (2) Commercialization companies will be able to diversify their services portfolio and to develop new tariff systems; (3) The Regulator may use mechanisms that enhance the liberalization of electrical power distribution and will have access to more information concerning the operational conditions of the grid; (4) The DSO will improve his operational efficiency, the grid reliability and will optimize investment decisions, reducing operational costs and energy losses. Objectives: Indicate quantitative objectives (similar to KPIs of the IPs of the EIIs). Also indicate intermediate milestones where applicable. By promoting energy efficiency, microgeneration and electrical mobility, this will be a shining example of sustainability for the whole country.
