ABOUT US MSI Tilley is a growing firm of Chartered Accountants that blends a combination of youth and experience to produce an innovative and professional service to our clients. Located on Sturt Street in the CBD, our office comprises three partners and 23 staff. Taxation & Accounting The Tax & Accounting division is the nucleus of MSI Tilley. We believe in providing a personalised service by making it our business to know and understand our clients business. We assist our clients in meeting all their statutory tax and accounting requirements through the preparation of financial statements and income tax returns. We act as tax agents for a diverse client base and prepare and lodge returns for:- Individuals Partnerships Trusts Companies Superannuation Funds In addition, we provide detailed advice on all taxation matters including income tax, capital gains tax, goods and services tax, fringe benefits tax and international tax whether arising from our clients current business activities or hypothetical, what if scenarios and also pre purchase or due diligence situations. Our team is competent in the preparation of financial statements as required by the Australian Accounting Standards Board (AASB) and currently prepares statements for both reporting and non reporting entities. 5 Audit & Assurance The Audit & Assurance division of MSI Tilley, under the direction of the audit partners, provides a wide range of services to a large and diverse group of clients. We pride ourselves on our personal approach to audits which not only assist in discharging your business' statutory obligations but wherever possible make recommendations regarding internal control weaknesses and business practices that may become evident during the conduct of our audit. Our client base, spread over South Australia, covers a number of industries and sectors. We attend to the audits of public companies, large and small proprietary companies, cooperatives, incorporated associations and not-for-profit entities. 15 Client Case Study Ballast Stone Estate Wines Pty Ltd In this issue, we look at how the relationship between Adelaide accounting firm MSI Tilley and client Ballast Stone Estate Wines has developed over the last year, resulting in the firm adding value to all aspects of the client s business financial activities. Ballast Stone is a family business, run by the Shaw family who own and operate the Ballast Stone winery and grow premium wine grapes in the Currency Creek and McLaren Vale wine growing regions of South Australia, one hour from Adelaide. Ballast Stone markets and distributes its own label wines in Australia, USA, UK, China and New Zealand, supplying grapes and bulk wine to Fosters and other premium wine producers. The family enterprise also operates the Currency Creek Winery restaurant and accommodation complex. The Shaw family are second generation vignerons having over 30 years experience in the wine industry. Having decided to grow their business MSI Tilley was recommended to them through other large local family businesses facing similar issues. Why MSI Tilley? Recent awards include; The prestigious Decanter world wines trophy for the Best Australian regional red wine under 10 pounds for the Ballast Stone Estate 05 shiraz; and Double trophy for the Ballast Stone Estate 07 Riesling, Cairns regional wine show. Looking into the future Ballast Stone Estate Wines wants to further develop the distribution of their products to the USA and have recently entered the UK market multiples (Tesco). Mr Shaw said, We have so much more to achieve and with the exceptional MSI team led by Grant Wilson who not only counts our money but helps us make it we know the sky is the limit.
