1 Normal Work Week 8:00am 4:30pm 7.5 hours a day 37.5 hours per week Paid Holidays The first day of January (New Year s Day), plus one (1) extra day The third Monday in January (Martin Luther King, Jr. Birthday) One-half (1/2) day/3.75 hours for (Good Friday) The last Monday in May (Memorial Day) The fourth day of July (Independence Day) The first Monday in September (Labor Day) The 11th day of November (Veteran s Day) The fourth Thursday in November (Thanksgiving), plus one (1) extra day The 25th day of December (Christmas), plus one (1) extra day Presidential Election Day (every four years) Vacation Leave Annual leave is earned at a rate of 3.5 hours per pay period. The accrual rate increases as years of service increase. The accrual and carry over rates increase each five years worked. Sick Leave Sick leave is earned at a rate of 3.5 hours per pay period. There is no limit on the amount of sick leave accumulated. However, employees hired after without previous Kentucky Retirement System (KRS) membership can only apply 12 months of sick leave toward retirement. 1

2 Court Leave An employee shall be entitled to a leave of absence, without loss of pay or time, for each day during which the employee is subpoenaed by a court to serve as a juror or witness, except in a case where the employee or a member of the employee's family is a party plaintiff. If relieved from duty as a juror or witness during normal working hours, the employee shall return to work. Voting Leave Military Leave Health Insurance The BRDHD will allow each employee ample time to vote (4 hours). The absence will not be charged against accumulated leave. An employee who is an active member of the United States Army Reserve, the United States Air Force Reserve, the United States Naval Reserve, the United States Marine Corps Reserve, the United States Coast Guard Reserve, the United States Public Health Service Reserve, or the Kentucky National Guard shall be relieved from duty without the loss of pay or time, upon request, to serve under orders on training duty for a period not to exceed seventyfive (75) hours in any one (1) calendar year. However, before granting military leave, the BRDHD may require a copy of the orders requiring the attendance of the employee. The BRDHD offers several insurance options for individual, couple, and family plans. KEHP Department of Employee Insurance Life Insurance A $20,000 life insurance policy is paid by the BRDHD. Additional life insurance options available on an Group Life Insurance

3 Dental Insurance An individual policy is paid by the BRDHD. Couple, parent-plus, and Neace Lukens family plans are available on an Vision Insurance An individual policy is paid by the BRDHD. Couple, parent-plus, and Neace Lukens family plans are available on an Long-term Disability Insurance Optional individual plans are available on an Neace Lukens Short-term Disability Insurance Optional individual plans are available on an Neace Lukens Aflac Policies (Hospital Indemnity, Cancer Care, Accident Indemnity) Optional individual plans are available on an employee paid basis Aflac General Liability Insurance Professional Liability Insurance Workers Compensation Insurance Unemployment Insurance Kentucky Retirement System (KRS) Pension Social Security Withholding The BRDHD contributes money equal to 38.77% of the employee s salary into the KRS. The employee is responsible for contributing 5% of their salary toward their retirement. New hires after without previous KRS membership will be required to contribute an additional 1% to the KRS health insurance fund. The employee s portion plus interest can be refunded if the employee terminates employment. The BRDHD contributes money equal to 7.65% of the employee s salary to social security (FICA). The employee also contributes 6.2% of their salary to social security. Kentucky Retirement System

4 Commonwealth Credit Union A BRDHD employee can join the Commonwealth Credit Union (CCU). Commonwealth Credit Union Most bank services are available with the CCU. Kentucky Deferred Compensation Authority FEBCO Employees have the option to contribute their own money toward retirement plans such as a 401k or a 457 plan. The 401k option includes the following additional options: Roth 401(k) contribution option, deemed Roth IRA contribution option, and deemed Traditional IRA contribution option. FEBCO offers BRDHD employees taxsheltered plans. Employees have the option to have a flexible spending account (FSA), health reimbursement account (HRA), or dependent care account (DCA). The HRA option is only allowed if the employee waives their health insurance. Kentucky Deferred Compensation Authority FEBCO Travel reimbursement Payroll Direct Deposit Mileage, meal, and Lodging reimbursement provided via direct deposit. Bi-weekly paychecks direct deposited. or ext. 128 Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA) Continuation of Health Insurance Coverage (COBRA) An unpaid 12 week leave is offered to staff who have been with the agency for 12-months and who have worked 1250 hours. This unpaid leave provides job protection and employer benefits are paid during the duration of the leave. Health Insurance offered when a new employee begins work for the BRDHD prior to their benefits becoming effective and after an employee leaves the agency. Ceridian Benefits Management

5 Certified Veteran s Affairs On-the- Job Training Facility The BRDHD provides on-the-job training coordination for Veteran s KY Veteran s Affairs (859) who are eligible for benefit. BRDHD Staff Wellness Cellular Service Discount Kentucky State Park Discount Holiday World Discount Beech Bend Discount Louisville Zoo Discount Sam s Club Discount Various benefits are offered through the Wellness program such as, free lipid profile, free flu vaccine, and paid leave time for accumulated wellness points, etc. ATT and Bluegrass Cellular discounts offered on monthly bill and merchandise.
