2 QUESTION 1 What are the main aims and objectives of the policy? Who are the main stakeholders of the policy? What data is available and being used to support this initial screening of the policy? (see Toolkit Appendix D, p.34) QUESTION 2 Who created and who has responsibility for monitoring and keeping the policy, service, programme or practice under review? QUESTION 3 Who has responsibility for implementing the policy, service, programme or practice? RESPONSE The Scheme falls within the remit of the Green Travel Plan, contributing to the aim: The overall objective of the MMU Travel Plan is to encourage and facilitate the use of alternatives to the single-occupant car as a means of commuting to work. This will: reduce the pressure on the use of car parks; reduce the volume of traffic, with associated environmental benefits; ensure that MMU complies with national and local government policy on transport. As at there are 1149 staff aged 55 or over from a total workforce of 4391 this equates to 26.17% Green Travel Plan Consultants Colin Buchanan carried out a Staff and Student Travel Survey in 2007, with a 30% and 1% return respectively. 3 QUESTION 4 EQUALITY STRAND YES NO DON T KNOW RATIONALE Is there reason to believe that different groups have different needs, experiences, issues and priorities in this policy area? An example of this could be the Catering Provision within the University. You may find that different Religions or Beliefs will have different dietary requirements that need to be addressed. Race Disability Gender Staff and students with a mobility impairment may not be able to use alternative modes of transport to the car. MMU provides dedicated disabled car spaces. Carers and those with childcare responsibilities usually tend to be female. They may not apply for the scheme as they need to travel by car to meet other commitments. This is an assumption which needs to be tested. (Please tick appropriate box) Age Staff with final salary pension schemes may find their final pension calculation is adversely affected if they take part in the scheme.
