1 Help with fees Burnett Scholarships for S5 and S6 Entry Burnett Scholarships offer fee discounts to pupils of outstanding talent in academic subjects, music, or sport entering Secondary 5 or Secondary 6 from other schools. The value of the Scholarship awarded to successful candidates will be variable. Awards up to half fee discounts are available. 13 Burnett Scholarship Application Guidance Notes on completing the Statement of Financial Circumstances Introduction These guidance notes are to help you provide complete and accurate information to support your Scholarship application. It is therefore important that this guidance is followed carefully. Please complete all the questions and fill in all boxes using Not Applicable or N/A if required.

14 Section A - Child s Personal Details This section seeks details of the child to whom this application relates. Section B - Parents/Guardians/Partners (who are living with the child) In this section - please give details of those adults who live with and have responsibility or primary responsbility for the child. If the natural parents are separated or divorced, please give details of the parent with whom the child lives, plus that of any other adults in the child s household, such as step-parent, guardian or partner living with the child. Details of a natural parent not living with the child should be provided under Section E, Shared living arrangements with the other Parent. Where there is a shared residency a separate form showing the household income of the other parent must be submitted. Section C - Parents/Guardians/Partners Occupations Where one parent is reported as managing the household or caring for children, please explain what steps, if any, are being taken to secure employment. In assessing your application, allowance is made for household expenses. Expenditure is affected by the number of people living at this address. Please state the number of other adults living at this address (excluding those named in Section B above, and the level of contribution that each makes towards the financial upkeep of the household. Include Bank and Building Society savings accounts, stock and shares and any other savings or investments. Copies of investment portfolios must be included with current market values. 3. Do not complete if you are in rented property. 4. Please specify any items of particular value, or property other than your main residence. Details of property portfolios must be declared. Include the value of any Insurance policies maturing in this tax year. It may help to provide this information in a cover letter. 5. Please provide details of any cash held at banks or elsewhere. 6. Please provide details of market value of any other assets. 7. Please provide detailsof net worth/value of any, and all businesses, which are owned, or of which you are a partner. 8. Please provide detials of retained earnings or valuation of any, and all businesses, which are owned or of which you are a partner. 9. Please include support from grandparents, trusts, settlements and any other sources and specify. Section M - Other Dependents Please provide details of any financial commitments which you are required to meet, relating to other individuals for whom you are financially responsible or who depend upon your support. Include the level of annual contribution that you make. Continue on a separate sheet if necessary. Section N - Verification of Income Please ensure that you have enclosed the correct documents to confirm your income as listed in Section F. In particular a full copy of any separation/divorce agreement is required, if applicable. Please include a copy of your tax self-assessment certificate for the previous year, if applicable. Section O - Verification of Assets Please ensure that you have enclosed the correct documents to confirm your capital assets. Section P - Home Visit Please state whether you would be happy to receive a home visit from representatives from either Robert Gordon s College or Aberdeen Endowments Trust. Section Q - Reason for Bursary The Robert Gordon s College ethos is to provide financial assistance to enable children to come to RGC who would otherwise not be able to. Please ensure you explain clearly why you think you should be considered for a bursary and what level of contribution you can make towards tuition fees. In order to help the greatest number of families who need assistance, all those who apply for a Bursary are asked first to consider whether they are eligible for assistance from any other source. There are a number of charitable organisations and trusts that can provide assistance with school fees. It is important that you tell us about any such applications, and their outcome, even if your applications were unsuccessful. It is also important that if you show investment income and/or savings in Section I that you explain whether you are able to /plan to utilise these amounts to help pay tuition fees and, if not, explain why this is not your intention. Section R - Signature This section must be signed by both parents or the parent/guardian who is making the application.
