YOUR PLAN, ITS AIMS, YOUR COMMITMENT AND RISKS YOUR PLAN, ITS AIMS, YOUR COMMITMENT AND RISKS ABOUT YOUR PLAN This company personal pension plan ( the plan ) gives you the opportunity to save in a retirement fund that you can use after age 55 to provide for the whole of your retirement. It is important that you think about the level of salary you choose to sacrifice to ensure that the plan provides you with the level of income you want in retirement. For more details see What is salary sacrifice? in the Questions and answers section. Contributions to your pension account are invested into funds. Funds can invest into many different things, for example shares of different UK companies. You can choose funds from the range available, and you can switch them in the future. On joining the plan you will automatically be invested in the plan s default option, the 10 year lifestyle strategy. Once you have joined you will be able to make an alternative investment choice. When you reach your retirement age you will have choices to make on how to provide for your retirement. Fidelity s Retirement Service is available to explain these choices and help you make a plan for the whole of your retirement. ITS AIMS To help you save for your retirement and make the most of the tax advantages available. YOUR COMMITMENT As a member of the plan you will need to: Save towards your pension, subject to any conditions set by your employer. (Please see the Contributions Explained leaflet for details of the contributions that apply to your plan). Usually wait until you re aged at least 55 before taking your benefits and tell Fidelity if your circumstances change (see the Questions and answers section). RISKS Fidelity can t guarantee what your plan will be worth or what your actual retirement income will be. Reasons could include: The value of your investments may go down as well as up and you may not get back the amount invested. If you decide to take benefits in the form of an annuity your retirement income may be lower than the estimated yearly pension amount shown on your annual pension account summary. This may happen if: - you stop or reduce your contributions into your plan - you take some or all of your benefits before your planned retirement date - investment performance is lower than, or charges are increased above, those illustrated - the cost of buying a pension (e.g. an annuity) increases if you choose this option - the type of pension you purchase is different from that shown in your annual pension account summary - you decide to take a cash amount from your pension account when you take your benefits. Tax relief depends on individual circumstances and may change. Fund charges may increase. The value of a fund may be affected if any of the institutions into which cash is deposited suffers insolvency or other financial difficulty. You bear the risk that any funds into which our FIL Life Insurance Limited funds are invested, or into which our funds are reinsured, do not pay Fidelity the full amount. If your existing retirement savings are subject to an enhanced protection or fixed protection certificate issued by HM Revenue & Customs (HMRC), then membership of this plan may invalidate that protection and lead to possible tax charges on your benefits. If you transfer benefits into the plan from other arrangements, your retirement benefits may not be as great as they would have been had you not transferred them to the plan. In addition to the general risks highlighted above, each fund will have its own specific risks. In the Your investment choices section of this document we show which risks are associated with each fund used by the plan s default investment option. You re in good company 3

QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS Questions and Answers Q WHAT IS A PERSONAL PENSION PLAN? A A personal pension plan is a tax efficient retirement savings plan, designed to provide you with a sum of money which you can use in a way that suits your retirement plans. The Misys Group Personal Pension Plan is an arrangement under the Fidelity Investments Personal Pension Scheme. As a member of the plan you will receive an individual insurance policy. Q IS THIS A STAKEHOLDER PENSION? A No. Stakeholder pensions are widely available and you may find they would suit your needs at least as well as this plan. However, your employer may not be able to pay their contribution into a separate plan, unless it meets certain minimum standards. Q WHO PAYS CONTRIBUTIONS INTO MY PENSION ACCOUNT? A Contributions to your pension account can come from the following sources: - your employer, including any salary you have sacrificed - transfers of pension benefits from previous schemes. Contributions through your employer s payroll system are paid automatically (once you have joined the plan). Any transfer payments are arranged separately. Q WHAT IS SALARY SACRIFICE? A Rather than receive your full salary, your employer may agree to reduce your salary and pay the amount of the reduction into your pension plan. This can occur for regular contributions or bonus payments. Contributions paid in this manner are classed for tax purposes as employer contributions and you are not eligible for personal tax relief on these contributions. Q CAN I MAKE ADDITIONAL CONTRIBUTIONS? A Yes, whilst you are employed by your current employer. There are no limits to the amount of contributions that can be paid, but not all contributions qualify for tax relief - please see What are the tax benefits of investing in the plan? below. For more details see the Contributions Explained leaflet. Q CAN I TAKE MY MONEY OUT? A Generally under HMRC rules benefits cannot be taken until you are age 55. Q CAN I TRANSFER ANOTHER PENSION PLAN INTO THIS ONE? A Usually yes, but Fidelity recommends that you take financial advice before doing so as it is possible you could lose important benefits. For more information, Fidelity has a leaflet on transferring pensions. This is available by calling the Pensions Service Centre on Q HOW CAN I KEEP TRACK OF MY PLAN? A Website PlanViewer - Fidelity s secure online pension service - lets you log in to your account whenever you want. It is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week. PlanViewer is an easy way to manage your pension account. You can view fund factsheets online. Through PlanViewer you can access our guide to how Fidelity manages your funds. Printed materials Fidelity will provide you with an annual pension account summary. You can request summaries over any period of time and get written confirmation of your current balance. Phone Fidelity s Pensions Service Centre provides a range of services to help you manage your pension account. You can call Fidelity s Pensions Service Centre on They can give you an up-to-date balance of your account over the phone at any time and help to answer any questions you may have. However, they will not advise you to take any specific course of action. Q WHAT ARE THE TAX BENEFITS OF INVESTING IN THE PLAN? A Tax relief on salary sacrifice pension plans As the plan is set up on a salary sacrifice basis, your selected contributions are paid to your pension account by the company and are classed for tax purposes as an employer contribution. You will not be able to obtain tax relief on contributions paid via salary sacrifice, however your income will be reduced and tax and National Insurance will be calculated on your reduced salary. Any personal contributions paid in addition to salary sacrifice will qualify for tax relief at the basic rate of tax. If you are a higher rate tax payer you may be able to claim the extra tax relief on any personal contributions by using your selfassessment tax return or by contacting your tax office. Tax relief is only received on your contributions up to 100% of your earnings and 3,600 gross a year, whichever is higher. This relief will only be available up to the limit of the annual allowance within the tax year which is currently set at 40,000. The annual allowance applies to all registered pension schemes to which you belong. If from April 2015 you flexibly access your retirement savings, then your annual allowance may reduce to 10,000. See What are my choices when I take my benefits. You may be liable to a tax charge on contributions above the annual allowance. Tax on the investments Your pension investments are exempt from tax on capital growth and certain types of income. What about tax on my benefits? The first 25% of your account value is usually tax free. Pensions in payment, including lump sum payments in excess of your tax free amount, are subject to income tax at your marginal tax rate. 4 YOUR KEY FEATURES DOCUMENT - fidelitypensions.co.uk

JARGON BUSTER Marginal tax rate means you only pay the specified tax rate on that portion of earnings. For instance, if your total earnings puts you in the 40% tax bracket, then you only pay 40% tax on the segment of earnings in that income tax band. For the lower part of your earnings, you ll still pay the appropriate 20% or 0%. Q HOW MUCH WILL ANY ADVICE COST? A If you choose to seek financial advice then your adviser will provide you with details of any costs. Q CAN I TRANSFER TO ANOTHER PENSION PLAN? A Yes. You may consider a transfer at any time. We recommend that you obtain financial advice before you make a decision on transferring your pension account. Q WHEN CAN I TAKE MY BENEFITS? A The default retirement age under the plan is 65. You can change your selected retirement age at any time by contacting the Pensions Service Centre. However, you can usually take your benefits at any time from age 55. If you are hoping to take your benefits early, you should bear in mind that your pension account will have had less time to grow. You can take your benefits all at one time or in stages, if you wish. Q WHAT ARE MY CHOICES WHEN I TAKE MY BENEFITS? A From April 2015 there are more options on what you can do with your retirement savings. We recommend you get guidance or advice to help you with this decision. Pension Wise is a new service from the Government that will offer free and impartial guidance. You may take up to a quarter of your account as a tax-free lump sum. You can then choose what to do with the remaining fund. Leave your fund invested but take an income from it (flexi-access drawdown). The option to take a regular income through drawdown is not currently available under this plan. You may need to transfer to an alternative product if you require this benefit. Secure a guaranteed income (an annuity). Take a cash lump sum from the fund (subject to a minimum cash withdrawal of 1,000, or 100% of your account if less). There is no charge for making up to three cash withdrawals* from your account during any 12-month period. Subsequent withdrawals during this period may incur a 100 charge. *A tax-free cash lump sum is not considered a cash withdrawal for this purpose. You can choose one, or a combination of options. Several of the options allow you to make decisions over time instead of all at once. JARGON BUSTER Flexi-access drawdown is a new type of drawdown where no restrictions apply. You can take your Pension Commencement Lump Sum (typically 25% of the fund) and any further withdrawals from the residual fund will be taxed at your marginal tax rate. At retirement, Fidelity s Retirement Service can help you review your retirement options and help you to make a plan that s right for you. Alternatively, you may choose to exercise your open market option and use a company or financial adviser of your own choice. You should shop around for the best solution for you. If the value of your pension account is small, you could consider taking all your benefits as a cash sum, separate from any other retirement savings you have. The value of your pension account must not be greater than 10,000 to qualify for this. Q HOW MUCH WILL I GET WHEN I TAKE MY BENEFITS? A That depends on the amount you and your employer contribute to your retirement savings fund, the performance of your investments (after charges) and the options you choose when accessing your retirement savings. Fidelity s Retirement Service can help you with the choices you will have at this time. Q WHAT IF I DIE BEFORE I ACCESS MY RETIREMENT SAVINGS? A If you die before the age of 75 the money in your pension account can be paid as a lump sum or used to provide an income for your dependants both of which would normally be tax free. You should note that if you die after age 75 benefits payable to any beneficiary will normally be taxed. The option to take a regular income through drawdown is not currently available under this plan. Your dependants may need to transfer to an alternative product if they require benefits to be received in this way. Please complete the expression of wish form, which is available under the myplan section in PlanViewer, to help Fidelity to decide which benefits should be paid and to whom. Please note that no other death in service benefit is provided by Fidelity under this plan. You re in good company 5

Q HOW SECURE IS MY PENSION PLAN? A Your pension savings are invested into funds run by Fidelity s life assurance company, FIL Life Insurance Ltd (FIL Life). All of FIL Life s funds invest into underlying funds which will be managed by other Fidelity companies or third party fund providers. The circumstances in which you will not receive the full value of your pension savings are, in our opinion, very unlikely to occur. However, there is a possibility of a shortfall should FIL Life or one of its underlying fund providers default, for example, if they were to become insolvent. Q WHAT HAPPENS IF FIL LIFE BECOMES INSOLVENT? A If FIL Life becomes insolvent or cannot otherwise pay you the full value of your pension account, your pension savings may fall in value. Q WHAT HAPPENS IF AN UNDERLYING FUND PROVIDER BECOMES INSOLVENT? A If an underlying fund provider (be that a third party or another Fidelity company) becomes insolvent or cannot otherwise pay the full amount due, your pension savings may fall in value. You bear the risk that any funds into which FIL Life s funds are invested, or into which FIL Life s funds are reinsured, do not pay us the full amount. While we would, if appropriate, seek recovery from the provider in these circumstances, your pension savings will fall if we were not able to recover the full amount. We monitor the underlying fund providers and their funds with the aim of safeguarding your pension savings. Q IS THE PLAN COVERED BY THE FINANCIAL SERVICES COMPENSATION SCHEME? A Your policy with FIL Life is covered by the provisions of the Financial Services Compensation Scheme (FSCS). However, there may be circumstances where the FSCS may not pay out. Under its current rules, the FSCS does not cover any shortfall from funds into which FIL Life funds are invested or into which our funds are reinsured. Our liability to you is restricted to what we receive from the underlying fund provider. You may be entitled to compensation from the Financial Services Compensation Scheme if FIL Life cannot meet its liability. Under current FSCS rules, most of FIL Life s pension savers are eligible for compensation in these circumstances (although, for example, policyholders with contracts issued after 1 December 2009 who are not resident in the EEA, Channel Islands or Isle of Man are excluded). Further information about compensation arrangements is available from the FSCS (see Useful contacts ). Q WILL MY ACCOUNT BE PROTECTED IF MY EMPLOYER BECOMES INSOLVENT? A Yes. The investments in your account are separate from your employer s assets. Q WHAT HAPPENS ON DIVORCE? A The courts may take pension benefits into account when deciding how to divide the marital assets. The same will apply if a civil partnership is dissolved through the courts. Q CAN I CHANGE MY MIND? A Within the opt out period If you have been enrolled in this plan and want to remain a member you do not need to take any action. If you don t want to stay in the plan, you can of course opt out. If you opt out within a certain period (see the letter that you received with this document) any payments already made will be refunded, as if you had never joined. If you are thinking about opting out you should think about the company contributions, tax relief and other benefits (for example, your plan may offer life cover*) that you would be giving up. You should consider alternative arrangements you may need to put in place to save for your retirement. * Any life cover (if available) would be arranged by your employer, and is not provided by Fidelity. Leaving the plan outside of the opting out period If you choose to leave the plan after the opt out period then the company s contributions, and any other contributions, to your pension account will stop. You are not entitled to a refund of any contributions that have been made into your pension account. Unless you elect to change your fund choices at this time your pension account will remain invested in the same way as before. You can change your fund choices in the future. Q WHAT HAPPENS IF I MOVE ABROAD? A Restrictions may apply to the tax relief available. Further details are available from Fidelity, which will be supplied when you notify Fidelity that you have moved abroad. Q WHAT IF I HAVE A COMPLAINT? A Please see our leaflet How we handle complaints. To obtain a copy you can call the Pensions Service Centre on or write to Fidelity. If you feel that Fidelity has not dealt with your concerns adequately, you may escalate the issue to either the Financial Ombudsman Service or the Pension Ombudsman. In addition, The Pensions Advisory Service may also be able to help. These organisations may be able to investigate a complaint, or dispute. Fidelity can give you details of how to do this. 6 YOUR KEY FEATURES DOCUMENT - fidelitypensions.co.uk

YOUR INVESTMENT CHOICES Your Investment Choices Q WHERE CAN I INVEST MY CONTRIBUTIONS? A You can select any fund or mix of funds from the range available. On joining the plan you will automatically be invested in the plan s default option, the 10 year lifestyle strategy. Once you have joined you will be able to make a personal investment choice. Details of the 10 year lifestyle strategy are provided below. Information on the full range of funds available to you, including their investment objective, risk rating and details of charges, are available on PlanViewer. Q WHAT IS A LIFESTYLE STRATEGY? A An automated investment strategy that starts by investing in a fund or funds that aim for growth, but as your retirement draws near, moves accumulated and future pension account contributions into funds that aim to preserve that growth. As the strategy is driven by your indicated retirement age, please advise Fidelity if this changes. The lifestyle strategy aims to make your investment decisions as easy as possible and has been designed for those who do not want to play an active role in managing their pension account. Further information on the 10 year lifestyle strategy is available from PlanViewer. Here are the main advantages and disadvantages to help you to decide whether or not a lifestyle strategy might be a suitable choice for you: Disadvantages The strategy is based on the expected greater stability provided by lower risk investments e.g. bond and cash funds. However, these funds can also suffer falls in value, and the effects of inflation could mean that cash funds produce negative returns in real terms. By moving out of equity funds you could potentially miss out on better growth, as equities have historically delivered higher returns than cash or bonds over the long-term. If you are planning to use income drawdown at retirement, investing in a lifestyle strategy may not be suitable for you as you could miss out on potential growth if stock markets rise. Investment decisions are taken away from you. If you want a more hands on approach to planning for your retirement, a lifestyle strategy is probably not for you. The strategy is automated and not based on, or reactive to, market conditions. The tables in the following pages provide details of which funds are used within the 10 year lifestyle strategy and show how the allocation of these funds change as you approach your retirement age. The strategy, including fund selection, has been designed by the company and its investment advisers. Please note that the tables are a simplified illustration of how fund switches occur. Actual switching may be on a more frequent basis; however Fidelity may not rebalance your account if changes in the values of the funds mean that the actual mix of funds is already very close to the intended target when a change is due. Advantages You do not need to actively manage your pension account. The switching process will be carried out automatically. There is nothing more for you to do unless you want to take a more active investment approach yourself (by investing in self-select funds). The lifestyle strategy aims to preserve the value of your pension account if there is a significant drop in the stock market as you near your indicated retirement age. It aims to match the lower investment risk profile that many investors move towards as they get older. There is no additional charge for investing in the strategy. Please note that charges are levied on the funds used by the lifestyle strategy, as detailed separately in your plan literature. You re in good company 7

FUND SPECIFIC RISK FACTORS In the Your investment choices section we indicate the types of risk associated with each fund. A description of each of these risks is in the table below. You should refer back to this table when reviewing your fund choices looking at each fund s risk factors. Risk Factor Type of Risk Description of Risk 1 Concentrated portfolio The fund may invest in a relatively smaller number of stocks. This stock concentration may carry more risk than funds spread across a larger number of companies. 2 Derivative exposure The fund invests in derivatives as part of its investment strategy, over and above their use for efficient portfolio management. Investors should be aware that the use of these instruments can, under certain circumstances, increase the volatility and risk profile of the fund beyond that expected of a fund that only invests in equities. The fund may also be exposed to the risk that the company issuing the derivative may not honour their obligations which in turn could lead to losses arising. 3 Efficient portfolio management The fund may use other investment instruments apart from/or in place of the actual underlying securities. This is done in order to manage the fund in a more efficient fashion. Examples of these other instruments could be options, derivatives or warrants. The process of using these instruments in the fund is referred to as efficient portfolio management. These instruments can be used to effectively take a position (or reduce an existing position) in a share or index, allowing positions to be altered more quickly and cost effectively than dealing directly in the underlying investment, but are not generally used to try and magnify returns. However, investors should be aware that the use of these instruments can, under certain circumstances, increase volatility and risk beyond that expected of a fund that only invests in conventional equities. 4 Emerging markets The fund invests in emerging markets. There is an increased chance of political and economic instability with less reliable custody, dealing and settlement arrangements. The market(s) can be less liquid. If a fund investing in markets is affected by currency exchange rates, the investment could either increase or decrease. These investments, therefore, carry more risk. 5 Ethical restrictions The fund is unable to invest in certain sectors and companies due to the ethical criteria used to select investments for the fund. 6 Exchange rate The fund invests in securities outside the UK. The value of investments and any income from them may, therefore, decrease or increase as a result of changes in exchange rates between currencies. 7 Geared investments The fund focuses on geared investments. Funds which focus on geared investments such as warrants or options carry a higher degree of risk than other equity investments because of the risk of the underlying investments. It is possible that the fund may suffer sudden and large falls in value so that the short fall on cancellation, or the loss of the realisation on the investment could be very high and could even equal the amount invested, in which case you would get nothing back. 10 YOUR KEY FEATURES DOCUMENT - fidelitypensions.co.uk

8 High yield bonds The fund invests in high yield bonds. High yield bonds carry a greater risk of default than investment grade bonds, and economic conditions and interest rate movements will have a greater effect on their price. Income levels may not be achieved and the income provided may vary. 9 Specialist The fund is specifically aimed at sophisticated investors and is particularly high risk, because it concentrates on a region that may be exposed to unusual political or economic risks. You should only invest if you are comfortable with the specific risks pertaining to the fund in question. 10 Income eroding capital growth The fund focuses on income which may reduce the prospect of capital growth. Any income generated cannot generally be withdrawn from a pension account until retirement and will be reinvested in the fund. 11 Liquidity The fund can suffer from partial or total illiquidity, which may lead to considerable price fluctuations and the inability to redeem your investment. This could affect you, for example, when you are close to retirement. 12 Performance charges The fund makes charges that depend on the fund s performance. 13 Property funds The fund invests directly in physical property so there may be delays in completing your instruction to sell. This could affect you, for example when you are close to retirement, as it may be difficult to sell the units you hold in such funds. Any decision to invest in physical property should be carefully considered in line with your planned retirement goals. The value of physical property is generally a matter of a valuer s opinion rather than fact. 14 Sector specific funds The fund invests in specific sectors. Funds which invest in specific sectors may carry more risk than those spread across a number of different sectors. They may assume higher risk, as markets/sectors can be more volatile. In particular, gold, technology funds and other focused funds can suffer as the underlying stocks can be more volatile and less liquid. 15 Smaller companies The fund invests in smaller companies. Smaller companies shares can be more volatile and less liquid than larger company shares, so smaller companies funds can carry more risk. 16 Solvency of depositary The value of the fund may be affected if any of the institutions with which cash is deposited becomes insolvent or experiences other financial difficulties. 17 Solvency of issuers The fund invests in bonds and there is a risk that the issuer may default, resulting in a loss to the portfolio. 18 Volatility Investments in the fund tend to be volatile and investors should expect an above-average price increase or decrease. You re in good company 11

Q CAN I CHANGE MY FUND CHOICE? A Yes, either by: using the online PlanViewer service at or speaking to the representatives at Fidelity s Pensions Service Centre on You can find more information on investments from the fund factsheets. These are available on PlanViewer. Please be aware that switching funds may result in your account not being invested for a short time and that market movements during this period may affect the number of units your switch buys in your new funds. Q WHAT CHARGES WILL I PAY? A An annual management charge (AMC). This is shown as a percentage figure in this document, and on the fund factsheets available on PlanViewer (if you are selecting alternative funds). This charge is deducted from the assets of a fund before the fund value and your pension account value is calculated. There are no entry or exit charges on your contributions. If new charges are introduced or annual management charges increase Fidelity will notify you. All funds incur running costs. These are called other charges and their impact is also expressed as a percentage figure. These are also deducted from the assets of a fund before calculating the fund value and your pension account value. Again, details can be found in this document and on the fund factsheets. The annual management charge and other charges are together expressed as the total expense ratio. Q WHAT IS A FUND? A The FIL Life funds available to you will invest into other funds. The FIL Life funds invest in funds managed by underlying fund providers. Underlying fund providers can be either other Fidelity companies or third party fund providers. FIL Life Insurance Limited links to the underlying fund providers funds either through an investment contract or reinsurance agreement. The underlying funds are usually made up of many types of investments. For example, a UK Equity Fund might ultimately consist of the shares of perhaps 100 different companies either based in the UK, or listed on a UK stock market. A UK Balanced Fund, however, might ultimately consist of shares in perhaps 50 UK companies as well as some government bonds. With a fund, investment risk is spread over a variety of assets. When you invest in a fund, your money is used to buy units which represent a share of the assets of the fund. For example, if you invest 5,000 in a fund where the price of units is 5, then you will have 1,000 units allocated to you. If, when you come to sell, the price was 10 then the holding would be worth 10,000 (1000 x 10), but if the price were to fall to 2.50, the holding would be worth 2,500. JARGON BUSTER If FIL Life makes the funds of another insurance company available to you for investment into your pension, it does so by entering into a reinsurance agreement with that company. Q WHAT HAPPENS IF THE AVAILABLE FUNDS CHANGE? A Fidelity will tell you of any material changes to the funds into which you are invested. If a fund is closed, your investments may be switched to another fund on your behalf, subject to any other instructions you may give. For the latest fund information please refer to the fund factsheets by logging onto PlanViewer. 12 YOUR KEY FEATURES DOCUMENT - fidelitypensions.co.uk

EXAMPLE PENSION ILLUSTRATIONS INTRODUCTION These illustrations provide you with an idea of what you might receive if you join the plan. They are general illustrations only. If you would like a personal illustration please contact Fidelity s Pensions Service Centre. You may also wish to visit our online Planning tools at To provide a useful illustration it is necessary to make some assumptions about the plan, the investment funds, future earnings and economic conditions. For some illustrations we show lower, intermediate and higher rates of growth (see below) to show a range of possible outcomes. All figures we use are examples and are not guaranteed, they are not minimum or maximum amounts. You could get back more or less than this. Other pension providers may use different growth rates and charges for their illustrations. ASSUMPTIONS USED IN THE EXAMPLES BELOW Current contributions (increasing in line with assumed increases in earnings) will continue until the retirement age shown. Where earnings are over the plan earnings limit, if applicable, total contributions to the plan will be restricted. Please refer to your Contributions Explained leaflet for full details. Contributions are invested into the plan s default investment option (see the Your investment choices section of this document for details). The table below shows the assumed annual growth rates that apply to the different types of fund that may be used for investment by the default option. The illustrations shown account for the amount of time invested into each fund type with their different assumed rates of growth. Plan and/or fund charges do not increase. This may happen and would have the effect of reducing the example figures shown. Also see Effect that our charges have on your pension below. No tax free cash lump sum is taken on retirement. Under current rules up to 25% of the pension fund value may be taken as tax free cash. If you choose to take a lump sum the estimated taxable annual pension figure will be lower than the example figures shown. The pension shown is based on an annuity being chosen, but there are other options available. Retirement income may be taxable and the example figures shown are gross of any tax. The pension shown is on an escalating basis. The estimated taxable annual pension figure shown will increase in line with the Retail Price Index (RPI) up to a maximum of 5% each year. If you choose an annuity without escalation the estimated taxable annual pension will be higher than the example figures shown. The pension shown is on a single life basis only, so does not include any benefit payable to a widow(er) on your death. If you choose a joint life annuity, the estimated taxable annual pension will be lower than the example figures shown. The example figures shown are in today s prices (real terms) so you have an idea of what you might be able to buy with your pension income when you retire. Tax and pensions legislation do not change. Values have been projected using the following assumed annual figures: MSYS - MISYS 10 YEAR LIFESTYLE STRATEGY LOWER INTERMEDIATE HIGHER GROWTH FOR AN INVESTMENT IN EQUITY (SHARES) BASED FUNDS 2% 5% 8% GROWTH FOR AN INVESTMENT IN BOND BASED FUNDS 1% 4% 7% GROWTH FOR AN INVESTMENT IN CASH OR MONEY MARKET FUNDS 0% 3% 6% INCREASE IN AVERAGE EARNINGS 2% 4% 6% INCREASE IN RETAIL PRICES 0.5% 2.5% 4.5% You re in good company 13

EXAMPLE 1 The following table illustrates the pension of a 30 year old with initial earnings of 20,000 who joins on the 6 April and invests in the plan s default investment option. The level of contributions is assumed to be 6% of salary giving a first year contribution of 100 per month. Salary is assumed to increase as shown in the Increase in average earnings section in the Assumptions table. The benefits are proportionate to the contribution, so for example paying twice the contribution would give twice the plan value at retirement and twice the taxable annual pension for the same investment term. It is assumed here that investments will grow at the intermediate growth rate, which is then adjusted to account for the effects of inflation. The amounts shown are only examples to illustrate the effect of charges and are not guaranteed. The total annual charge used to calculate this generic illustration represents an effective combined charge that accounts for the different funds held for the relevant time period within the plan s default option. The deductions (i.e. effect of the charges) applied would reduce investment growth from 2.1% a year (adjusted for inflation) to 2.1% a year. The reduction in growth will be proportionate to the annual charges (annual management charge and other charges) of the funds. The current annual charges for the funds used within the default investment option are shown in the Your investment choices section of this document. 15 EXAMPLE 2 MSYS - MISYS 10 YEAR LIFESTYLE STRATEGY The following table illustrates the pension of a 55 year old with initial earnings of 30,000 who joins on the 6 April and invests in the plan s default investment option. The level of contributions is assumed to be 8% of salary giving a first year contribution of 200 per month. The deductions (i.e. effect of the charges) applied would reduce investment growth from 1.8% a year (adjusted for inflation) to 1.7% a year. The reduction in growth will be proportionate to the annual charges (annual management charge and other charges) of the fund. The current annual charges for the funds available under the plan are shown in the Your investment choices section of this document. AT END OF YEAR TOTAL PAID IN TO DATE EFFECT OF DEDUCTIONS WHAT THE TRANSFER VALUE ** TO DATE MIGHT BE *** 1 2, , , , , , , , , , , ,500 NOTES * Plan value at retirement refers to the amount that could have accumulated in the example pension accounts by the retirement age shown in the tables. This figure (adjusted for the effects of inflation) will include the value of any contributions (including transfers), and any investment growth achieved, less any charges taken during the period. ** Total paid in to date refers to the amount of contributions that would have been paid with reference to the examples. This figure is adjusted for the effects of inflation. *** Transfer value refers to the amount that could have accumulated in the example pension accounts prior to any transfer to another pension provider. This figure (adjusted for the effects of inflation) will include the value of any contributions (including transfers), and any investment growth achieved, less any charges taken during the period.
