He is a good citizen, he is confident, he can take care of himself and others, he is a leader and a caring person. Why is this Eagle Required? From the MB Book, here is one way of explaining the importance of these skills: Money is not, and should not be, everything in life. More important things exist, such as your religion, family, friends, helping others, and achieving personal growth. But, money is a major part of life and can affect you, your family s well being, and your relationships. What are we going to cover Saving Setting Goals Buying Decision Budgeting Managing your Money and Time Planning a purchase Managing your time Begin Planning for the future Finding Value Careers Stocks and other investments Visit to a bank, credit cards, ATM, checkbooks
3 By the end of the training You ll see the benefit of making a budget You ll be able to analyze value and shop better You ll be able to set an obtainable goal and make a plan how to reach it You ll be able to see the costs of borrowing and know how credit cards and loans work. You ll understand the burden of debt. You ll be better able to make a decision on saving for something or borrowing and getting it quicker. You ll begin to understand investments and the beauty of compounding interest (save early!) You ll learn how the stock market works You ll get an appreciation of how important and hard it is to accumulate wealth and better appreciate the value of a dollar You ll see how banks work and why they are important You ll be introduced to careers in finance You ll be able to better manage your time and money You ll be 1/21 of the way closer to being an eagle scout
