1 A GUIDE TO UNDERSTANDING YOUR RESIDENTIAL BILL/STATEMENT At Green Network Energy, we design your bills/ statements to be clear and straightforward. However, there is a lot of information in your bill/ statement and some industry jargon. So, we have created this quick guide to help you easily understand your energy bill/statement.
2 Fixed Fixed Fixed Fixed 7a 7b 7c YOUR BILLING ADDRESS Your personal details will be displayed here, including your name and billing address. Your supply address is shown on page 2 of your bill/statement in the Your Charges in Detail section. BILLING/STATEMENT PERIOD This is the billing period that is covered on this bill/statement. BALANCE AT YOUR LAST BILL This section will display what your balance was the last time we sent you a bill/statement. This will either be a 'debit', if you owe money, or a 'credit', if you're owed money. In this area, you will also find payments we received during the billing period. As well as the Balance Brought Forward from your last bill. If your payments were successful, you will see a Thank You message. This section may include payments / adjustments made after the billing/statement period closes, but before you receive your bill/statement. STATEMENT REFERENCE NUMBER & ISSUE DATE Each bill/statement has a unique reference number. Bills/statements are normally issued a short time after the billing/statement period ends. There may be delays if we need to review the bill/ statement before issuing, for example, if there is missing data. NEW ACCOUNT BALANCE Your New Account Balance represents your current balance. It includes any credit/debit bought forward from previous bills/statements, and the current bill/ statement. If you pay with regular payments such as monthly direct debits, then the bill/statement shows the account balance. This doesn t demand payment however. 7 PERSONAL PROJECTION Your personal projection is calculated using your expected spend for the next 12 months. This is based on your current tariffs rates, including any discount and charges. If your fixed tariff ends within those 12 months, we calculate your projection using the rest of your contract, and our cheapest variable tariff rates, (the tariff you ll roll onto if you don t renew) to calculate your personal projection. COULD YOU PAY LESS? We compare your current tariff to our other tariffs available when your bill/statement was issued. All bills/statements will do this to see if you can save money on future energy consumption. 7a. We ll compare your current tariff against similar Green Network Energy tariffs. For example, if you are on a fixed price tariff, we will provide information about other fixed tariffs currently available, and let you know how much you could save. 7b. We ll also compare your tariff against all our other tariffs. So, if you're currently on a variable tariff, we will compare with our fixed and variable tariffs, to see if we have a cheaper deal for you. We will also check if you are able to save by changing your payment method / your current meter type. Switching tariffs may involve changing to different terms and conditions. Tariffs may be subject to eligibility criteria, limited availability and may only be available for a limited period of time. Switching may need your meter to be exchanged at a cost. 7C. We ll also let you know how much you could save per year by changing your tariff. Electricity Symbol Gas Symbol Meter Read Types: Opening Read: supplied to us by you or industry. Read: supplied by you or the meter agency. Estimated: a reading which is calculated based on the data we hold for your meter Estimates are calculated when we do not have a validated read from the end of your bill/ statement period. Providing regular readings can help improve the accuracy of your bill and any estimates we need to calculate. METER INFORMATION AND DETAILS This section shows information about your gas and electricity meter. 9a. The Meter Point Administration Number (MPAN) is a 21-digit number used in Great Britain. It uniquely identifies electricity supply points such as individual domestic residences. It contains data unique to the electricity supply point. 9b. Your Meter Serial Number is displayed in front of Energy Charges for Meter section. It should be unique to your meter and is often printed on a sticker / engraved on your meter. 9c. The Meter Point Reference Number (MPRN) is displayed in front of Energy Charges for Meter section. It is used in Great Britain to uniquely identify gas supply points, such as individual domestic residences. It contains data unique to the gas supply point TARIFF NAME This is your current tariff. ENERGY USED Here we show you how much energy you have used in kilowatt hours (kwh) and the cost in pence per kwh. STANDING CHARGE The standing charge is a fixed daily charge, independent of your consumption. It goes towards the cost of supplying energy to your home. DUAL FUEL DISCOUNT (If Applicable) Some of our dual fuel tariffs may have a dual fuel discount. The disconnect is calculated daily and applied on a pro-rata basis ( 25/ 35 number of days of the billing period). If one of your fuels starts later than the other then the discount, where applicable, will only apply for the days when both fuels were supplied. VAT This is the total VAT amount and rate applied. TOTAL CHARGES FOR THIS BILL The total charges for your energy, taking into account any discount you re eligible for and VAT added. Bill for illustrative purposes only. 2

Your Product Type, if you are on a variable or fixed tariff. Your Payment Method, for example Direct Debit, Cash/Cheque. The Unit Rate and the Standing Charge, exclusive of VAT applied to your tariff. The Duel Fuel Discount when applied. The Tariff End Date The Tariff Price Guaranteed Until the date shown. This shows the date your current prices are guaranteed to. Ths is likely to be the same as the Tariff End Date, but may differ depending on the tariff structure. If you are on a variable tariff then no End Date or Price Guaranteed Until date will show. Any Early Exit Fee you ll have to pay if you switch supplier. These will, under normal circumstances, also apply if you end your contract early. For example, if you move house or change tariff outside of your renewal window. Your Estimated Annual Usage, this is your estimated electricity or gas consumption. It's based on industry data we received from a centralized industry database and any information you may have provided, for example, meter reads. For electricity, this is known as an EAC (Estimated Annual Consumption) and gas an AQ (Annual Quantity). If you have both electricity and gas on the same bill/statement, this information will be displayed separately TOTAL GAS CHARGES Although your gas meter reads are measured in cubic feet or cubic meters, we have a license requirement to bill you in kilowatt hours (kwh). This makes your bill consistent with the same units of measurement for both electricity and gas. Your energy usage is calculated from your gas consumption using a standard industry formula: Unit (Cubic Meters) register by your meter Metric Conversion (converted to cubic meters, if the meter read is register in cubic feet) Volume Correction (for temperature and pressure) Calorific Value (energy in each m3 of gas) 3. (converted from joules) The number of kilowatt-hours is then multiplied by the relevant unit rates. Any discount you are eligible for are deducted and VAT is added. For example: 150 (meter read) x 2.83 ( metric conversion) x (volume correction) x 39.4 (calorific value) / 3. (to get kilowatt-hours) = kwh EMERGENCY NUMBERS This explains what to do and who to call if you ever smell gas / have problems with your electricity supply.
