3 1 Why should we study investment? +1 = + +1 (and supports future consumption) is a volatile component of GDP, so it plays a central role in short-run (i.e., business cycle) fluctuations represents 15% of GDP Dynamics in provide insight into investor rationality (e.g., animal spirits) andmarketinstitutions. Some policies are designed to influence (e.g., investment tax credit)
