Chapter 11 Case No (KRH) (Jointly Administered) NOTICE OF AMENDMENTS TO SCHEDULES OF ASSETS AND LIABILITIES OF CERTAIN DEBTORS PLEASE TAKE NOTICE OF THE FOLLOWING: 1. On October 2, 2015, Alpha Natural Resources, Inc. and certain of its direct and indirect subsidiaries, as debtors and debtors in possession (collectively, the "Debtors") each filed its respective Schedules of Assets and Liabilities (collectively, the "Schedules") with the United States Bankruptcy Court for the Eastern District of Virginia pursuant to section 521 of title 11 of the United States Code and Rule 1007 of the Federal Rules of Bankruptcy Procedure. 2. On the date hereof, certain of the Debtors (collectively, the "Affected Debtors") 1 have filed certain amendments to their Schedules (collectively, the "Amended Schedules"), as more fully described in the Supplemental Global Notes, Methodologies and Specific Disclosures Regarding the Debtors' Schedules of Assets and Liabilities, as Amended, and Statements of Financial Affairs, a copy of which is attached to each of the Amended Schedules. 1 A schedule identifying the Affected Debtors and their respective case numbers and tax identification numbers is attached hereto as Appendix 1.

Pursuant to paragraph 17 of the Order Establishing Bar Dates for Filing Proofs of Claim and Approving Form and Manner of Notice Thereof (Docket No. 1156) (the "Bar Date Order"), if the Amended Schedules: (a) reduce the undisputed, noncontingent and liquidated amount of a claim; (b) change the nature or classification of a claim against a Debtor in a manner adverse to the holder of such claim; or (c) add a new claim to the Schedules with respect to a party that was not previously served with notice of the Bar Dates (in each case, a "Modified Claim"), affected claimants shall be permitted (a) to file a proof of claim in respect of such Modified Claim or (b) to amend any previously filed proof of claim to add such Modified Claim, in accordance with the procedures described in the Bar Date Order, by 5:00 p.m., Eastern Time, on March 14, 2016 (i.e., the date that is the first business day at least 30 days after the date hereof, the "Amended Schedule Bar Date"). 4. By contrast, if the Amended Schedules improve the amount or treatment of a previously scheduled or filed claim, a claimant that previously was served with a notice of the Bar Dates is not permitted to file additional claims by the Amended Schedule Bar Date. 5. Copies of each of the Amended Schedules may be viewed, free of charge, at 6. Nothing contained herein shall preclude the Debtors from objecting to any claim, whether scheduled or filed, on any grounds.
