6 THE MASLIN SHAREHOLDERS Lt General Abdul Hafiz, ndc, psc (Retd), Co-founder and Chairman Educated in academies in Bangladesh, China, France and USA, General Hafiz served in the Bangladesh Army in a variety of responsibilities, including as the commandant of the Bangladesh Military Academy and Chief of General Staff. The last decade of his career was spent in war torn Africa as Force Commander of UN Peace Keeping Forces. His leadership and strict principles of governance are assets of Maslin Capital. Wali-ul-maroof Matin, Managing Director, Co-founder and Managing Director Maroof was a CEO of Chittagong stock exchange, he contributed in the preparation of a number of regulations, including listing regulations and trade settlement rules. 7 THE ADVISORS Dr Sultan Hafeez Rahman Dr Sultan Hafeez Rahman, a former Director General of Asian Development Bank (ADB), South Asia, is the Executive Director of the Institute of Governance Studies (IGS). Dr Rahman, a reputed economist, started his professional career in the Bangladesh Institute of Development Studies (BIDS) in Throughout his professional career of 37 years, Dr Rahman has published on a wide range of economic issues. His current research interests are in the areas of economic growth and inequality, 'green growth,' macroeconomic policy, financial sector policy, governance and regional economic cooperation and integration. Dr Rahman obtained his Ph.D. and M.A. Degrees from Stanford University and M. A. in economics from Vanderbilt University. Dr Fouzul Kabir Khan Dr Fouzul Kabir Khan obtained his PhD in Economics from Boston University. He was Secretary, Power Division, Government of Bangladesh, and the founder Chief Executive Officer of Infrastructure Development company (IDCOL), a company jointly created by the World Bank and the Government of Bangladesh. The company administered large infrastructure projects e.g., power generation, telecommunication, port, toll road, water, etc. Dr Khan also pioneered the fastest growing solar home systems (SHS) program in the world (4 mil units). Dr Khan has taught Economics and Finance at Boston University, University of Massachusetts and National University of Singapore, and North South University, Dhaka. Dr Khan has advised Asian Development Bank, the World Bank, IFC, GIZ, JICA, and UNDP in a variety of areas such as energy & power, finance, water utilities, management strategy, sectoral work, environmental impact assessment and resettlement, public-private partnerships, public policy and economic analysis, regional cooperation, renewable energy, social safety network, and sustainable manufacturing. Dr Saif Islam Dr Saif Islam is a professor of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the University of California Davis. He served as a director at the Centre of Nano and Micro-manufacturing. Professor Islam s not-so-long career has been decorated with Best PhD Dissertation Mentor, Outstanding Mid-career research faculty award, outstanding junior faculty award, to name a few. Trade sale is a common way out. Other exit avenues include listing on the stock exchange and share buy-back. The funds will be close - ended with long term tenure ranging from 5 to 15 years. The funds themselves cannot be listed. But projects financed by the funds can be placed for IPO offer.
