2 The Asset Triple A Treasury, Trade and Risk Management Awards 2014 The Asset Triple A Treasury, Trade and Risk Management Awards are industry excellence awards given out every year to institutions that have outshone the competition in providing best-in-class treasury, risk management and working capital solutions to their customers. Acknowledging that the role of service providers more than ever also includes assisting clients to manage exposure to foreign exchange, rates and commodity prices, this year s awards again incorporate excellence in risk management. Volatile markets this year have forcefully brought into the limelight the kind of hedging tools that CFOs and treasurers require to protect their capital and returns. As in the past, the awards will focus on five major aspects of treasury and working capital management namely liquidity management, cash management, trade finance, risk management and electronic banking. The panel will evaluate submissions based on three sets of criteria: (1) business statistics as solicited separately; (2) information gathered during pitch meetings or calls; and (3) input provided from your clients. This year, we look forward to including more views from clients so that the awards are reflective of actual solutions implemented. Alongside this rulebook, invitations to submit have been sent out with an excel spreadsheet (TASQ360) to be filled with business statistics as they relate to the firm s business performance. With this year s TASQ360, sent alongside and to be read in conjunction with this rulebook, we share the metrics that constitute one portion of the overall deliberation process. This enhanced data collection helps us to obtain a snapshot of your APAC franchise. The board of editors values transparency in providing these figures for your regional business. If you plan to apply for country awards, we ask you to kindly replicate the data set for each of those countries. In addition, we are looking forward to learn about (1) key mandates won over the award period, (2) product innovations launched, (3) translation of industry and market trends into business growth, and (4) client feedback. While we do not impose a page or word limit on your submissions, it follows that the pitch books should focus primarily on these four criteria. Submissions for specialty categories should be tailored to the relevant award. Triple A Treasury, Trade and Risk Management Solution Awards TRIPLE A BEST LIQUIDITY MANAGEMENT SOLUTION We are looking for solutions that have brought substantial freedom to clients in terms of managing working capital requirements and enhancing returns from excess cash. The solution is aimed to provide fund concentration that maximizes interest income for clients, minimize fund shortage by allowing clients to have greater visibility and control of cash positions across activities, intelligent sweeps and enhanced investment options for the client. In view of the unique requirements for liquidity management for the government sector and private enterprise, we make a distinction between the two with separate awards for each category namely Best Regional Treasury Solution and Best Public Sector Solution (eg. tax collections, customs, etc.). Wherever applicable, we take special note of how opportunities stemming from new regulations have been seized in the past 12 months. TRIPLE A BEST CASH MANAGEMENT SOLUTION This regional award goes to the most impressive cash management solution for a client in Asia. The solution should reflect a substantial improvement for the customer in terms of its payments/receivables capabilities, invoice management and ability to reduce the cash conversion cycle. The award will also take into account important parameters including the size and scope of the Asia-Pacific operation and year-on-year growth in volumes handled for clients based in the region. Our panel is looking for a comprehensive cash management 1

3 solution and will take note of innovations introduced, competitive pricing and the extent to which the solution impacts the management of regional working capital and liquidity. Here again, we will make a distinction between In-country Cash Management Solution and Best Regional Cash Management Solution. TRIPLE A BEST TRADE FINANCE SOLUTION The best trade finance solution will be one that anticipates the needs of clients and provides the most effective solution under complex circumstances. The solution must have helped the client in enlarging its franchise through structuring solutions that best meet the trade finance needs of the importer/exporter and should boast competitive pricing for the parties involved. Considerations would include supply chain financing techniques, cross-border trade settlement, and ability to support significant trade volumes through various facilities. This category includes dual awards for the Best Structured Trade Deal and the Best ECA-backed facility. TRIPLE A BEST RISK MANAGEMENT SOLUTION This will recognize the Best Interest Rate, Best FX Risk and Commodity Risk Management solution to clients, across the spectrum of their needs. Emphasis will be placed on hedging solutions and other risk mitigating techniques, innovation and client engagement along with relevance and timeliness of solutions provided. Attention is paid to the difficulties that some markets present in successful execution of risk mitigation solutions. TRIPLE A BEST ELECTRONIC BANKING IMPLEMENTATION The award is for the most effective electronic banking infrastructure that supports a client s treasury management capabilities. The solution must be overarching in terms of supporting the customers payments and receivables, ensure straight-through processing as much as possible, support industry standards, and incorporate industry innovations where applicable, such as electronic account management and mobile banking initiatives. The solution must enable the client to significantly improve their treasury and trade finance capabilities with the effective use of technology, in a cost efficient manner and with a view to accommodate multibanked clients. For these awards, banks are invited to submit client solutions that are either on-going or completed during the last year starting January 1, Triple A Country Awards We continue to support and recognize the services of banks in their efforts to satisfy their clients diverse treasury and working capital needs. We have also observed that customer requirements vary widely based on the scale of their operations and their growth targets. In order to be able to understand the unique challenges faced by service providers in providing best-in-class solutions to their clients, we have categorized them on the basis of their size and scope. The country awards focus on the following client categories: SMEs MNCs/large corporates Financial institutions Non-bank financial institutions Cash management Trade finance Risk management E-banking (including M-banking) *For the purpose of our awards, we will define an SME Bank as one with a corporate client base made up mostly of companies with annual revenues of up to US$250 million. 2

4 Here again, the best treasury/working capital management bank will provide the entire gamut of services including liquidity, cash, trade finance, risk management and electronic banking. The bank must have an extensive branch network, provide favorable payment cut-off times, reasonable pricing, strong back-office capability, good credit rating and adequate delivery systems. The bank should have pioneered innovative improvements that contributed to vast improvements in the treasury management capabilities of the corporates/institutions in that country. The award will go to an institution in a particular country that has demonstrated excellence when it comes to all aspects of trade finance by providing efficient trade documentation and creative financing and risk management. It should be also be at the forefront in introducing innovative trade finance products that mitigate risks for both clients and institutions. Our panel will look at mandates won this year, successful implementations, year-on-year growth in volumes handled, year-on-year growth of network alliances and/or branch network expansion, initiatives to migrate services to the Internet and any other qualities that set the institution distinctly apart from its competitors. The bank must exhibit progressive investment in technology, mandates won for pan-regional collections and payments, customer satisfaction, breadth of services and the ability to advise their customers and be true partners in their growth stories. 3
