7 What is Risk Management? Risk is anything that threatens the ability of a [program] to accomplish its mission. Risk management is a discipline that enables programs to cope with uncertainty by taking steps to protect their vital assets and resources. Nonprofit Risk Management Center

17 Where to Start: Narrative Questions 8. Describe your program's overall approach to risk prevention and management. How are risks identified? How are identified risks brought to the attention of management? Which types of risks are brought to the attention of the person or entity responsible for providing oversight? 9. Describe 2-3 examples of your program s response to identified risks. Please describe the steps, the decision-making process, and actions taken to bring the issue to resolution. 10. Describe how regular safety inspections and maintenance reports are incorporated into your program s risk prevention and management reviews and how the results of these reports are integrated into quality improvement activities.
