3 Important information about your insurance As part of your Student Current Account, you will receive the following extra benefits: Insurance benefits: n Mobile phone insurance n Gadget insurance n Laptop insurance This document contains a summary of each insurance benefit contained within your Student Current Account. It does not contain the full terms and conditions of each insurance benefit. The full terms and conditions can be found in the Insurance benefits policy document, which will be sent to you on acceptance of your Student Current Account application. You should refer to these if you want to decide if there are other conditions and exclusions that may be important to you. It is important that you carefully read the terms and conditions of each insurance benefit. The insurer Mobile phone insurance, Gadget insurance and Laptop insurance are provided by Homecare Insurance Limited, Holgate Park, York YO26 4GA, registered number Homecare is authorised and regulated by the Financial Services Authority (FSA registered number ). Please note that references to we or us in each section refers to the insurer providing the policy. Eligibility You are eligible for the insurance benefits if you are: n Aged 18 years or over n Living in the United Kingdom n An account holder of the Student Current Account n Paying in at least 500 into your Student Current Account each term 03

4 Current Accounts Policy Summary Section 1 Mobile phone insurance Mobile phone insurance provides worldwide cover of up to 500 against theft, breakdown and damage to your mobile phone, and if your mobile phone is a contract phone, up to 1,000 cover for unauthorised calls. It covers you and up to two authorised users of the phone as long as they re registered with us first. Principal features n Worldwide cover for your mobile handset against theft, damage (accidental, malicious and liquid) and breakdown up to 500. n 1,000 cover for unauthorised calls if your mobile phone is a contract phone. n Repair or replacement of your phone if it is damaged or breaks down outside its warranty. n Replacement of stolen handsets with a phone of similar specification. n A Data Back up facility which allows you to back-up calender and contact data on your mobile phone online. n We will also cover accessories up to a total of 200. n Cover is provided for a mobile phone which has a value of no more than 500 when new. 5 Conditions and exclusions Your Insurance benefits policy document provides full details of the conditions and exclusions which apply. These include: n Replacement handsets will not be provided until you return to the United Kingdom n The policy covers phones with a value of 500 or less when new n Maximum value of replacement handsets is 500 n 35 excess payable for each successful claim n Handsets are only covered if you have registered them with us first. The insurance will then start 14 days after they ve been registered 3 Damage or theft where you have not taken reasonable precautions to prevent this or where you have been reckless about or indifferent to the risk of theft taking place. Some examples include wilfully or recklessly leaving your mobile phone and accessories unattended in a public place or leaving them on the bonnet, boot or roof of a vehicle. 4 Accessories unless they have been stolen or damaged in the same incident as the registered mobile phone. 5 The cost of any texts or downloads made on a contract mobile phone if it is stolen. 6 Any call credit on a pay-as-you-go mobile phone which is stolen. n Maximum of two claims per year n For the mobile phone to be registered, you will need to have retained proof of purchase or ownership, or a claim will not be paid. What we will not cover: 1 Any mechanical or electronic breakdown which occurs when your mobile phone is under a manufacturer s warranty. 2 Theft from a motor vehicle, unless the mobile phone is kept in a secure area of the motor vehicle and force and violence is used to gain entry to the vehicle. 05

6 Current Accounts Policy Summary Section 2 Gadget insurance Gadget insurance provides worldwide cover of up to 600 in total against theft, damage and breakdown to your electronic device(s) which may include Bluetooth headsets, digital cameras, satellite navigation systems and MP3 players. A limit of 300 applies to an individual electronic device. It covers you and up to two authorised users of the electronic device(s) as long as the users and devices have been registered with us first. Principal features n Worldwide cover for two electronic devices(s) for theft, damage and breakdown up to a total of 600 and an individual value of no more than 300. n Cover is provided for an electronic device which has a value of no more than 300 when new. n Replacement or repair of your electronic device(s) if it is damaged, or replacement if it is stolen. n We will also cover accessories up to a total of 50. Conditions and exclusions Your Insurance benefits policy document provides full details of the conditions and exclusions which apply. These include: n Electronic device(s) are only covered if you have registered them with us first. The insurance will then start 14 days after they ve been registered. n 35 excess payable for each successful claim. n Maximum two claims per year. n The policy covers electronic devices with a value of 300 or less when new. n Maximum value of a replacement electronic device is 300 each, up to a maximum of 600 in total. n For an electronic device to be registered, you will need to have retained proof of purchase or ownership, or a claim will not be paid. 8 Current Accounts Policy Summary Section 3 Laptop insurance Laptop insurance provides worldwide cover of up to 600 for your laptop or personal computer if it is stolen. It covers you and up to two authorised users of the laptop or personal computer as long as they re registered with us first. Principal features n Worldwide cover of up to 600 for your laptop or personal computer if it is stolen. n Cover is provided for a laptop or personal computer which has a value of no more than 600 when new. n We will either replace your stolen laptop or personal computer, or cover their replacement costs. n Replacement laptop or personal computer will come with a 12 month warranty. n We will also cover accessories up to a total of 50. Conditions and exclusions Your Insurance benefits policy document provides full details of the conditions and exclusions which apply. These include: n A laptop or personal computer is only covered if you have registered this with us first. The insurance will then start 14 days after it has been registered. n The policy covers a laptop or personal computer with a value of 600 or less when new. n Maximum value of a replacement laptop or personal computer is 600. n 35 excess payable for each successful claim. n Maximum two claims per year. n For the laptop or personal computer to be registered, you will need to have retained proof of purchase or ownership, or a claim will not be paid. Some examples include wilfully or recklessly leaving your laptop or personal computer or accessories unattended in a public place or leaving it on the bonnet, boot or roof of a vehicle. 4 Theft of your laptop or personal computer from any premises unless there is evidence of a break-in or deception is used as a means to enter the premises. 9 Period of cover The insurance benefits start when your application is accepted by Santander and continue for the period of three years, as long as you meet the eligibility criteria of paying in 500 into your account each term, or unless Santander tells us otherwise or unless you cancel the insurance benefit. You will need to review these insurance benefits to ensure the cover remains suitable for your needs. Claims Claiming for Mobile phone insurance, Gadget insurance or Laptop insurance call us on * Cancellation These insurance benefits have been provided with your Student Current Account and will terminate automatically after a period of three years or if your Student Current Account is closed. This insurance is optional and you have a statutory right to cancel your policy back to the start date, during a period of 14 days after you receive your policy document. This is called the statutory cooling-off period. 09

Please ensure you give us a telephone number we can contact you on in case we need to get more information about the issues you are raising. A copy of our complaints leaflet is available upon request. The Financial Services Compensation Scheme Homecare Insurance Limited is a member of the Financial Services Compensation Scheme. Under the Financial Services and Markets Act 2000, should the company be unable to meet all liabilities to policy holders, compensation may be available. Insurance advising and arranging is covered for 90% of the claim, without any upper limit. Information can be obtained on request, or by visiting the Financial Services Compensation Scheme website at 10

12 Santander is able to provide literature in alternative formats. The formats available are: large print, Braille, audio tape and PC disk. If you would like to register to receive correspondence in an alternative format please give us a call and ask for a Preferred Communication Request form. *Calls could cost up to 10 pence plus up to 6 pence per minute depending on your BT call plan.
