1 Actuary of Tomorrow The Stuart A. Robertson Memorial Scholarship This Scholarship opportunity was established in Stuart Robertson s name to honor his dedication to excellence and to recognize his tremendously positive influence on the professional lives of many colleagues. Mr. Robertson, a distinguished actuary, co-founded and served as CEO and Chairman of the actuarial and consulting firm Milliman & Robertson (now Milliman, Inc.) over 50 years ago. PROGRAM The Actuary of Tomorrow Scholarship recognizes and encourages the academic achievements of undergraduate students pursuing a career in actuarial science. The Actuarial Foundation will provide an award of $7,500 for education expenses at any accredited U.S. educational institution. This award will be forwarded to the college/university of recipients choosing or other arrangements may be considered on an individual basis. The Actuarial Foundation independently manages this program. Awards are made without regard to race, color, creed, sex, religion, disability, or national origin. DEADLINE All application materials must be submitted together and must be postmarked on or before June 1, ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS Applicant must be a full-time undergraduate student entering as a sophomore, junior or senior in the fall 2006/2007 term. Must have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 (on 4.0 scale). Must have successfully completed two actuarial exams. (Spring 2006 exams may be used to meet the two exam requirement). Attach a current official copy of transcripts (sealed) from attending college/university. Must provide a letter of recommendation supporting academic achievement, leadership and communication skills from professor or advisor. Must submit an essay as described below. All requested materials must be included in one envelope. Incomplete applications will not be reviewed. Scholarships are awarded directly to the college/university of choice in the recipients name.

2 PERSONAL ESSAY In an effort to better understand an applicant s future goals, the selection committee requires a personal essay from each applicant, approximately 500 words, single-spaced and typed. The essay should focus on why you want to be an actuary. Some suggested focus questions you may wish to include are: How has your work experiences prepared you for an actuarial career? What are the qualifications and abilities that have helped you succeed in college and will help you succeed in an actuarial career? What extracurricular activities have you enjoyed most, and how will they help you in your career? Which college courses have you enjoyed most/least and why? Applicants are rated on the information supplied, therefore it is advisable to answer every question as completely as possible. Application and accompanying materials will not be returned. OBLIGATIONS Scholarship recipient(s) are required to notify The Actuarial Foundation of any changes of address, school enrollment, or other pertinent information. Recipients are solely responsible for making admission arrangement and fulfilling requirements of enrolling in a full-time course of study at an accredited four-year college or university. Recipients must be entered as a full-time student in the fall term following selection, remain in good academic standing and pursue a course of study that may lead to a career in actuarial science.
