And you can get a prescription written, if needed. Do you know what people usually say BEFORE they use Teladoc? HMMM, I don t know if that ll work. Do you know what they say AFTER a Teladoc visit? WOW! That was easy! I m totally doin that again! Here are two pieces of advice: 1 Have you completed your Teladoc account setup? If not, take 10 minutes and do it now when you re healthy! Read page 2 for answers to the most popular Teladoc questions. I was going to see my family in a town that was a 5 hour drive from my home. About 30 minutes into the drive, my back started to spasm, which is normally the start of something much worse unless I handle it quickly. Instead of having to wait 5+ hours to even try to get to a doctor, I called Teladoc while on my ride. They called me back about 20 minutes later, asked a bunch of questions and called in a prescription to a pharmacy right by my destination. 2 TELADOC Q&A About Using Teladoc Why should I call Teladoc? Answer: 24/7 access to a doctor by phone or video. Fast treatment. Teladoc doctors respond within 16 minutes, on average. Talk to a Teladoc doctor from anywherein the US: at home, work, or while traveling. Save money by avoiding expensive urgent care or ER visits. What can the Teladoc doctors treat? Answer: Allergies Cold & flu Bronchitis Sore throat Ear Infection Respiratory infection Sinus problems Urinary tract infection Pediatric care Poison ivy Pink eye and more What can t the Teladoc doctors treat? Answer: It s important to note that Teladoc is not a drug fulfillment warehouse. In the event a doctor does prescribe medication, he/she will limit the supply based on state regulations. If you have a chronic illness, you should visit a primary care physician or other specialist for extended care. Also, based on treatment protocols, doctors may not prescribe an antibiotic for viral illnesses such as most colds, sore throats, coughs, sinus infections and the flu. Doctors may suggest alternative treatment options such as a prescription for symptom relief or over-the-counter medication. How do I set up my Teladoc account? Answer: It s quick and easy. Just follow the instructions in your Info Booklet (or call if you don t haveyour booklet). Then, complete your medical history online or have a Teladoc representative complete your medical history over the phone. How do I request a visit with a doctor? Answer: It s easy! Just log in to your account at teladoc.com/ feelbetter and click Request a Consult or call any time day or night. There is one patient per consult. If multiple family members need a consult, please make separate requests. How quickly can I talk to the doctor? Answer: A doctor will call you back within 16 minutes, on average. If you miss the doctor s call (whether you are away from the phone or you have anonymous call blocker on) you will be returned to the bottom of the waiting list. The consultation request is cancelled if you miss three calls. Can I provide visit info to my doctor? Answer: Yes. You have access to your portable electronic medical record at anytime. Download a copy from your online Teladoc account or call and ask to have your medical record mailed or faxed to you. Who are the Teladoc doctors? Answer: They are U.S. board certified in Internal Medicine, Family Practice, Emergency Medicine, or Pediatrics. They average 15 years practice experience & are licensed in your state. The doctors incorporate Teladoc into their day-to-day practice as a way to provide people convenient, affordable access to quality medical care. Does Teladoc replace my doctor? Answer: No. Teladoc doctors do not replace your primary care physician. Instead, use this service when you need immediate care for non-emergency medical issues. 6 ADVOCACY Health Advocate is the company that provides the Advocacy service in your freshbenies card. How does it work? Answer: 1. Follow the instructions in your freshbenies Member Info Booklet, login at or download the freshbenies app to use all your services. 2. You ll be assigned a Personal Health Advocate. 3. You ll complete a medical authorization allowing your Advocate to assist. 4. Your Advocate will review your info and work to resolve your issues. Who can use the Medical Bill Saver service? Answer: Of course, all your freshbenies services can be used by your spouse (or domestic partner), and legal dependents. But the Health Advocate services can also be used by parents and parents-in-law. What if I have a large bill, but I was charged properly under my insurance plan? Answer: They will always attempt to work with providers to negotiate a discount on bills of $400 or more, but can t guarantee that a provider will accept a discounted balance. It s always good to have an impartial expert reviewing your bills and working on your behalf. What are common situations they typically negotiate successfully? Answer: Many are related to services that have been denied by your plan, or that might not be included in your plan. For example, let s say you hit your plan s maximum payout for physical therapy services, but still needed treatment. Health Advocate would be able to negotiate directly with your provider on bills from appointments that were denied. Additionally, if you used an out-of-network provider that charged you for services above-and-beyond what your medical plan would cover Health Advocate would be able to negotiate on this amount because the fees are your sole responsibility and not eligible for coverage under your medical plan. Are there any state restrictions? Answer: Yes, some states have laws that restrict Health Advocate from negotiating bills on your behalf. For instance, say you have an outstanding bill and the balance is related to charges that were applied to your insurance plan s deductible and coinsurance. In this situation, some states allow the deductible and coinsurance amounts to be negotiated, while others don t. Your personal Advocate will let you know if your medical bill is impacted by a state law. If they aren t able to negotiate, what else can they do? Answer: They can review your medical bills for accuracy many bills have errors that can be expensive if they are not reviewed and caught by an expert. If errors are found, they can work with the providers to ensure the errors are corrected. They can assist in working out a payment plan with the provider, or research financial aid opportunities, if needed. I needed an MRI and knew the prices varied wildly. I called the Advocacy service and asked them to do some research in my local area. Within 20 minutes, I received an with 3 different locations and the pricing for each. To find the biggest savings, use your member portal or app to get a price for your drug/dosage at participating pharmacies in your area. Prices can vary from pharmacy to pharmacy, so check first! 2 Try it! Try it! Just flash your card or app at the pharmacy (there are 60,000 of them). With insurance, my monthly prescription was $88, but with freshbenies, it s only $48. 8 PRESCRIPTION SAVINGS Q&A About Prescription Discounts What can I expect to save? Answer: Prices vary on prescription drugs, so it s hard to estimate specific dollar savings. However, you can save 10% to 85% on acute care medications and 46% on average. It s always worth checking! Can I use this discount in addition to my insurance or to reduce my co-pay? Answer: No, freshbenies can t be used in conjunction with other discount or insurance cards. What if I have already have prescription coverage under my health insurance? Answer: Present your freshbenies card or app AND your insurance car the pharmacist will determine which card offers the most savings. You can also save on medications your insurance does not cover. Do I get a discount on every single drug when I use my card? Answer: No. Drug stores determine their own pricing structures. Due to large discounts from manufacturers, some drugs may already be priced at or below our discounted price. For instance, there won t be a discount on $5 generic drugs. And, most pharmacies use long-term, maintenance or high-profile medications (Prozac, Zantac, Premarin, etc.) as loss leaders and price these drugs at or below cost. That doesn t mean there aren t substantial savings to be had on other medications, so it s always good to check. Is there a limit to the number of times I can use the discount?
