Forfamilieswithlimitedandfixedincomesthis mostoftenmeansdowngradingmealqualityeven furthertofeedchildrenwhenschoolisnotinsession. SEBTC is a pilot program funded by the USDA, to examine the effectiveness of offering an alternativemeansofobtainingnutritiousfoodsusingthewicebtbenefitdeliverymodelduring thesummermonths,whenchildrenarenotattendingschool. FooditemsthatarebeingpurchasedusingtheSEBTCcardmustbeseparatedand rungupseparatelyfromanypurchasesbeingmadewithawicebtcardregardlessof whetheryourstoreregistersareintegratedornot. BecausetheEBTProgramforChildrenisadifferentcardthantheWICEBT card,thefoodsmustberungupseparatelytopreventbenefitsbeingdebitedfromthe wrongcardshouldashopperbeparticipatinginwicandsebtcsimultaneously.the cashierorclientwillstillselect WIC asthetypeoftransactiononthepointofsale (POS)machinewhenringingupasaleorcompletingabalanceinquiryforEBT forchildren. Many(butnotall)WICApprovedfoodsareapprovedfortheEBTforChildren pilotprogram.cashierswillstillreferencethepinkcashiercardsthathavebeen providedforallwicebttransactions.
