1 EDCO Scholarship Application Form Guide and Tips The EDCO Scholarship Fund was established by the professional development committee. The purpose of the fund is to encourage and assist members, especially those new to the profession, in learning more about their field. The program will fund $4,000 of professional development. Funds will be distributed as follows: $1,500 to Northern Ontario recipient $1,500 to Southern Ontario recipient $1,000 to a young professional recipient The committee will review and select the winning applications. The information provided in the application will determine the need for professional development and the ability to pursue professional development opportunities. Eligibility Applicant must be a member of EDCO in good standing with a commitment to maintaining membership for at least 5 years. Current Board members are not eligible for the scholarship. Eligible Expenses The scholarship will reimburse paid invoices The funds may be used for registration fees associated with EDCO/EDAC/IEDC produced professional development opportunities.

2 Completing the Application You may complete the Adobe form electronically and then print the completed application to sign. Completed applications should be sent to John Regan, Chair of the Scholarship committee through the EDCO office By signing the form the applicant authorizes EDCO to use their name, photo and testimonial without any further consent. Description of Required Information Name of Applicant This is the name of the person applying for the scholarship. The applicant must be an individual. Mailing Address This is the address you would like the correspondence sent to. Phone The number by which you would like to be contacted. Applicant Job Title The title or position of the applicant applying for the scholarship. For example: Economic Development Officer. Total Estimated Cost of Training The total cost of all the training the applicant plans to attend for the year. All training not just courses or workshops that scholarship funding will be applied to. Give the range of funding available i.e. less than $1,000. What is the total Economic Development Budget? The total budget amount for Economic Development. This includes all projects, personal, training, administrative and any other items included in the budget. For a Municipality this would be the entire budget for the economic development department or development corporation. For a private enterprise that deals with economic development this is the budget for all departments and individuals that handle economic development. For example a consulting firm specializing in economic development would disclose the amount the organization spends on economic development. Audits or other expenses not directed at economic development would not be included. Total Number of full time staff covered by ED Budget? How many full time staff are covered by the department or organizations Economic Development budget? Budget per person This is the total Economic Development budget divided by full time staff.

3 Professional development budget The budget for all professional development activities. This is within the Economic Development budget and not for organization as a whole. Professional development budget per person The amount allocated per person for professional development. Again this is the professional development budget per person as a part of the Economic Development budget. Not professional development for the organization as a whole. What area do your represent? Name and area of responsibility List the name of the geographical area you represent as well as population size i.e. Huntsville. Also state the provincial area in which your organization operates. For example: All of Ontario, Northeast Ontario, Eastern Ontario, Canada. Etc. List all EDCO conferences by year and any EDCO training taken List all the EDCO recognized courses taken within 5 years. i.e. Social media. List all years you attended EDCO conferences i.e. EDCO conference This will show what training has been taken and when. Are you a current Board Member? Current board members are not eligible. Are you a member of an EDCO committee? Not a disqualifier. This helps decision makers know how many awards have gone to EDCO volunteers. How did you hear about the scholarship? This will help determine how many members are hearing about the scholarship.
