18 CORE Follow-ups/Feedback
19 CORE Follow-ups/Feedback The composter itself was frozen shut a lot in the winter...the slider wasn't sliding. We have a big composter so were putting stuff in there. We empty it on average once every two weeks. In the winter it is more like three, but we stuff it so full cause it is so cold outside no one wants to go out to empty it! LOL It takes me forever to fill that countertop composter! Mind you it is mostly just me at home. But my other composter is full! I can feel the heat coming off it, so I know it is working. Looking forward to putting some in my new little garden this spring. So far all is going well with it. There is no smell from it, which surprised me. This is definitely something I see us continuing with.
20 CORE Follow-ups/Feedback We now turn our potato peelings into chips! Maybe this is something that your program could show too; how to use "waste" in other ways. Composting may be saving stuff from our landfills, but there are many things that can be used in other ways that people might not be aware of. Pintrest has given me a lot of ideas. Reduce, reuse, repurpose, and recycle! Something to keep in mind in our current "throw it away and buy a new one" society It has made a difference. Maybe not so much in the winter because I'm not handling the same amount of produce (from my garden) as in the summer, but I'd say I was saving the equivalent of one kitchen caddy's worth per week, more in the summer months.
