6 TERMS AND CONDITIONS OF ADMISSION 1. In accordance with the provisions of Section 39 of the South African Schools Act 84 of 1996, the Governing Body of Linkside High School determines the compulsory school fees payable for the school year on an annual basis. During the course of the school year, parents of learners who are already enrolled at Linkside High School are advised of the amount due in respect of school fees for the following year. Parents of learners enrolling at the School for the first time are advised of the amount due in respect of school fees on the enrolment form. 2. In terms of Section 40 of the South African Schools Act 84 of 1996, biological parents and legal guardians are liable to make payment of compulsory school fees, unless they have been exempted from payment as contemplated in the aforesaid Act. 3. School fees are payable in advance and become due on the first day of each school year. 4. Payment of annual compulsory school fees 4.1 In respect of the payment of school fees, Linkside High School affords its parents the following options; Payment of the total fees due in full by no later than 31 January annually (- 10% discount); or Payment of the total fees due by means of monthly installments; Option is subject to the following conditions, which must be strictly adhered to: (a) (b) Payment must be made by means of 10 equal monthly installments. The first installment must be paid on or before the 1 st of February annually, and each subsequent installment on or before the last day of each following month, the last installment being payable on the 31 st of October annually with NO EXCEPTION. In the event that any one installment is not paid on due date, the total balance outstanding as at the date of default of payment shall become immediately due and payable Option does not constitute a Credit Agreement as contemplated by the National Credit Act 34 of In this regard, each parent is required to clearly indicate in terms of which option payment of annual compulsory school fees will be made. (Indicate selection by marking chosen option with a cross) Payment in terms of Option 4.1.1: Accounts which are paid up in full before 31 January, will qualify for a 10 % discount. Payment in terms of Option 4.1.2: Payment by means of 10 equal monthly installments, subject to the conditions of this option as set out in (a) and (b) above 4.3 In the event that a parent decides to alter the option selected in 4.2 above, it is the responsibility of the parent to notify Linkside High School in writing of such alteration. 5. In terms of Section 41 of the South African Schools Act, Linkside High School may enforce the payment of the aforesaid compulsory school fees. Accordingly failure to make payment of the full amount due by 31 March annually, in the case of Option (4.1.1) above, alternatively, a failure to make timeous payment of installments in terms of Option (4.1.2) above, will result therein that the outstanding amount shall be handed over to the Attorneys of Linkside High School for collection. 6. All parents attention is drawn to the fact that school fees constitute a Statutory debt, and cannot be included in an application for debt review as contemplated in the National Credit Act 34 of I/we declare that I/we are in a financial position to pay the school fees as adopted. Please note: We hold BOTH BIOLOGICAL PARENTS liable for the school fees irrespective of their marital status. A maintenance agreement is a personal agreement between two parties. 7 DECLARATION I/we the undersigned, hereby confirm that : 8.1 I/We have read the Terms and Conditions of Admission; 8.2 I/we am/are fully aware of the content and implications of the Admission Policy and Terms and Conditions of Admission and declare my/our willingness to abide by such rules. 8.3 I/we take note of the school rules and code of conduct and undertake to see that my/our son / daughter will abide by the aforesaid rules. 8.4 I/we have taken note of the content of paragraph 5 of the Terms and Conditions of Admission. I/we hereby agree that, in the event that school fees payable by me/us are handed over to the Attorneys of Linkside High School for collection as a result of my/our default of timeous payment of school fees due, in terms of the Option selected by me/us in paragraph 4.2 of the Terms and Conditions of Admission, then and in such event, I/we shall be liable to make payment of all legal costs, charges and expenses incurred by Linkside High School in respect of the collection of such fees, on an Attorney and Own Client Scale. I/we acknowledge that this will include collection commission at a rate of 10% per installment, subject to a maximum amount of R1, per installment. I/we further acknowledge that Linkside High School shall become entitled to the payment of interest on the outstanding balance of fees due, calculated at the legal rate of 15,5%, from the date of default to the date of final payment of such amount. 8.5 No extension of time or other indulgence in respect of any payment or performance of any of my/our obligations in terms hereof shall in any circumstances operate as a waiver or novation of, or otherwise affect the right of Linkside High School in terms hereof or arising herefrom or preclude the Linkside High School from enforcing at any time strict and punctual compliance with each and every provision or term hereof. 9 ADMISSION POLICY OF LINKSIDE HIGH SCHOOL The following criteria will be used to assist the committee with applications: 1. LANGUAGE PROFICIENCY The medium of instruction at Linkside High School is both Afrikaans and English. In Grade classes could be mixed because we do not have enough teachers to warrant separate Afrikaans and English classes. Announcements, assemblies and newsletters are done in both languages. 2. MATHEMATICAL ABILITY The school focuses on the Sciences: Economic Sciences, as well as the Natural Sciences. We offer the following subjects in which it is essential for the learners to have a Mathematical ability: Mathematics, Physical Science, Mathematical Literacy, Accounting, Economics Computer Studies (IT and CAT) To ensure that we have enough learners left for the sciences in Grade 10 12, it is important that we accept learners who have good mathematical abilities. 3. COMMENTS MADE ON REPORTS OF LEARNERS Discipline is very important for learning/teaching to take place at any school, therefore the comments made by Primary School teachers concerning disciplinary patterns are taken VERY SERIOUSLY when learners are considered for our school. 4. AGE A learner who is three years older than the norm age per grade needs permission from the Head of the Education Department in order to attend school. The norm age in our case is the grade number plus 5: Grade 8 = 13, Grade 9 = 14, Grade 10 = 15, Grade 11 = 16, Grade 12 = FEEDER AREAS Linkside High School offers a range of subjects in the Economic Sciences, and in order to afford all learners the opportunity to study these subjects, we are not bound only to our immediate area for learners. We consider learners from all primary schools and areas. However, the following order of preference, as prescribed by the Department, is taken into account: a. Learners whose parents reside within the immediate area of the school/learners with brothers and/or sisters already at the school. b. Learners whose parents work within the immediate area of the school. c. Learners who attend a primary school that traditionally feeds the school. ** ACCEPTANCE IS, however, NOT AUTOMATIC FROM FEEDER SCHOOLS. 6. RELIGION POLICY We uphold CHRISTIAN PRINCIPLES, but we do not discriminate against any other religions.

10 7. PAYMENT PLAN for enrolment for Grade 8 (2017) at Linkside High - ONLY Linkside DOES NOT ask for any deposit under the guise of Administration / Registration / Acceptance / Enrolment fee. At Linkside we ask that you MAKE AN INVESTMENT in your child s education. Money invested means that you will get every cent of it back in monetary value, in the form of what will be given to your child. YOU thus choose whether you want your child to be considered for Linkside, by making that financial investment. In order for us to plan for the learners WHO DEFINITELY WANT TO COME TO LINKSIDE IN 2017, it is necessary for us to spell out our enrollment and financial investment plan to you. 7.1 Handing in the Application form = R This payment of R2750 will indicate to us that you are serious about making the investment and that you have decided that you definitely want your child to be CONSIDERED FOR ENROLLMENT at Linkside. Linkside s Grade 8 s use Tablets and E-Books, and this amount will be used as a partial down payment on your child s Tablet order, once we have made our selection of learners to be enrolled. No Application form will be accepted without payment/proof of payment. On 13 May applications will close, and those who have paid, will then be considered for the 3 or 4 x Eng classes x 30 learners and I or 2 x Afr classes x 30 learners, whilst the next 20/30 learners selected will be placed on a waiting list. Learners not selected will have their monies refunded. 7.2 Termly financial commitments However, in order to secure your child s place for 2017, it will be expected of those selected to fulfil all of the following financial obligations during 2016, as follow: a. Handing in of application = R b. 24 June 2016 = R c. 25 September 2016 = R d. 25 November 2016 = R Total amount due: = R This R will be utilized to purchase the following for each Gr 8 learner: Samsung Tablet / E-books / IT Upgrade, ITSI, training & support / Name tag / Gr 8 Orientation / Stationery / Trainer shorts / Golf shirt / Sport bag / Tablet sling bag / House T-shirt / Pullover will be financially easier By keeping up with your investment payments for this year, you are in fact making 2017 a much easier year, financially speaking. Our current school fees are R per child per year. For 2017 one can expect an 8-10% increase, but by having already paid this year for much of what your child will need for next year, your financial obligations will be much less than it would be if you did not make the financial commitment in 2016 already. It makes financial investment sense. 7.4 Default on payments Should someone who had paid the initial R2750, and had been notified of acceptance, default on the Termly financial commitments (see point 2 above), their monies will be refunded, and the next selected person on the waiting list will be given the opportunity to enrol his/her child. OTHER GRADES: In grades (Gr 9 12) three months advance school fees needs to be paid with the application.

CLOSING DATE FOR APPLICATIONS The closing date is the last day of the 2 ND term. Applications will be accepted from the beginning of the learner s Gr. 7 year (with the Dec. Grade 6 report). It is, however, NOT FIRST COME, FIRST SERVED, but as per the Payment Plan for enrolment for Grade 8 (2017) at Linkside High. Learners may be provisionally accepted until their Gr 7 June results are available. Learners considered may be called for interviews. As the sifting is a lengthy process, parents can be notified of acceptance up to the end of October. The school reserves the right to reserve space for learners who might move into the area. Parents are requested to apply at more than one school in order to avoid a situation where the learner might not be accepted at our school, and then be left without an alternative. 11. EXTRA-MURAL ACTIVITIES Learners are expected to participate in the extra-mural activities as indicated on their application form. 12. BURSARIES Bursaries are CONSIDERED for the grade 8 year in the following categories: a) Top academic at the final prize-giving (Traditional feeder schools) b) Provincial school sport.
