The Society is registered under the Andhra Pradesh Cooperative Societies Act (NO.7) of 1965 and Multi State Cooperative Societies Act The Society is formed for the service of the Railway employees to motivate saving, thrift among themselves and to assist the shareholders financially in case of need thereby saving them from debts. 3. Dividend is the percentage of profit for a financial year which is paid to the shareholders after finalization of accounts. 39. 23 43. Where loan given to the shareholder is prior to and where there is no LRF deducted the loan due is assessed by taking the difference between assets and liability. If the liabilities are more, then the dues must be paid to the Society by means of cheque/cash or must be recovered from the railway retirement settlement dues of the member. 44. Accidental Death Relief Fund is a fund created by accumulating contributions from the members of the Society annually. An amount of Rs. 3,00,000/- is given to the nominee/claimant in case of accidental death of a member of the Society provided the assets of that member is more than his liability. The outstanding loans if any, are either adjusted to LRF if eligible or may be recovered from ADRF at the time of CMTD settlement. 45. Rules to open a case under BYE LAW 43 are If the member is a defaulter for more than 6 consecutive months i.e., the CMTD, MBF and loan recoveries are not received by the Society for more than 6 consecutive months then the member is termed as a defaulter. His case can be closed under BYE LAW Annually a sum of Rs. 200/- is deducted from the CMTD holdings of the member of the Society. This amount is credited to the Accidental Death Relief Fund. 52. When a member of the Society applies for a loan before complete repayment of previous loan, a fresh loan is issued debiting the previous loan balance and the necessary outstanding dues from the fresh loan. 23

25 53. A shareholder who had previously applied for loan is eligible for an inclusive loan. He/She must have completed ¼ period of instalments due for repayment of loan and had repaid ¼ amount of loan in case of General loan and Special loan. 54. In case the books taken from Book bank are not returned within one and a half year from the date of taking books, double the MRP value of the books is debited from the members account at the time of settlement. In case of death, one and a half time the MRP value of the books not returned is deducted at the time of settlement. 63. Rs. 5,000/- worth of books can be taken for Inter, Degree and Engg courses. Rs. 10,000/- worth of books can be taken for Medical course. 64. Two children are eligible for taking books from Book bank within the permissible limit. 65. Books can be availed for Inter, Degree, Engineering, and Medical courses. 66. In case of semester wise course, the student must enclose copies of mark memo of two semesters to avail Scholarship for the year. In case of back logs of 1 st semester subjects in 2 nd semester of the academic year are also eligible. 67. The Scholarships are rejected incase the courses for which applied are not cleared within one year. In case improper or incomplete documents are submitted application is rejected. 68. The Cashier must handle the receipts, payments, advances, issue of pass book and new admission of the Society. 69. Rs.200/- is paid as incentives to the delegates for fresh admission. 70. Internal Auditor must audit the loan applications, settlement vouchers, excess recovery vouchers, establishment vouchers, scholarships, disease relief voucher, stores, book bank and miscellaneous payments. 27 71. Medical Aid is given only to the member, their son / daughter / wife / husband / widow mother / widow sister / dependent brother or sister once in a lifetime. The ailments for which the aid is taken must be certified by the Railway Medical Officer for Railway employees and Govt. Civil Surgeon for the Society Staff. 72. Medical Aid is given for Brain Operation, Cancer, AIDS, Heart Surgery, Kidney Operation, Orthopedic Operation(major), Paralysis, Gyneac Operation, Spinal Cord Operation and Abdominal Operation. 73. Amount allocated for Medical Aid is as follows : Rs. 10,000/- is paid for Brain Operation, Cancer, AIDS ; Rs. 6,000/- is paid for Heart Surgery, Kidney Operation ; Rs.5,000/- is paid for Orthopedic Operation(major), Paralysis, Gyneac Operation ; Rs.4,000/- is paid for Spinal Cord Operation, Rs. 3,000/- is paid for Abdominal Operation. 74. Documents to be provided for availing Scholarship are true copy of SSC marks memo, Self attested true copy of Society pass book and marks memo of the course for which Scholarship is sought. 75. A sum of Rs. 80,000/- is allocated towards Staff Recreation club Cultural Tour from the Welfare fund of the Society. 76. A sum of Rs. 10,000/- is allocated towards Staff Recreation club Library from the Welfare Fund. 77. Spectacle aid to the Staff of the Society is given upto a maximum of Rs. 800/- on production of proper bills and Ophthalmic reports. It is given once in 3 yrs upto an age of 45 and once in every 2 yrs at the age and above 45 yrs. 26

28 78. The condition to avail Spectacle aid by the Staff is that they must submit ophthalmic report and bills paid for Spectacles. 79. As the demand for the month is generated on or before 10 th of every month, any loan amount due cleared after 10 th is accounted in the next month. In such a case, the amount paid in cash/cheque may/does not account the recovery for the month sent before 10 th of that month.
