T respnd quickly and effectively t emergencies r prblems which affect the wellbeing f the cmmunity. T assist in mnitring cmpliance issues and help t bring the cllege int cmpliance frm a risk management perspective. MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 1. Develp and supervise a cadre f well-trained, respnsible student Campus Safety Officers t assist in the listed duties. T cmmunicate and enfrce Campus Safety Department plicies and prcedures. Oversee wrk schedules t ensure cverage fr daily department peratins and special events. 2. Patrl all buildings and grunds f campus n a cntinuus basis in rder t identify and assess situatins that may affect the safety f the cllege cmmunity. 3. Respnd t all campus emergencies r incidents 24 hurs a day/7 days a week/365 days a year, including medical emergencies, natural disasters, trespassing intrusins, threats f vilence, disturbances, and physical plant prblems, in rder t identify the surce r cause f the prblem and subsequently reslve r assist ther departments/agencies in the reslutin f these issues. 4. Enfrce all cllege plicies, student cnduct regulatins, and apprpriate Federal, state, and lcal laws as necessary n a cntinuus basis in rder t ensure cmpliance by the Unin Cllege cmmunity and its visitrs. 5. Investigate all incidents n campus as needed in rder t prvide fr immediate safety needs, prper handling f the incident and its aftermath, and apprpriate dcumentatin fr administrative actin r subsequent criminal prsecutin. 6. Oversee Unin Cllege safety related cmmittees: Safety Cmmittee, Crisis Subcmmittee, Threat Assessment Sub-cmmittee, Security and Parking Subcmmittee. Participate as a member in Risk Management Cmmittee, and cchair the Cmpliance Cmmittee. 7. Gather required statistics and maintain recrds fr the cllege in which the Clery Act dictates. 8. Maintain regular liaisn cntacts with apprpriate law enfrcement agencies, cllege staff ffices, and ff-campus agencies as needed, t guarantee clear and timely exchange f infrmatin. These entities include but are nt limited t the Office f Student Services, Health and Cunseling services, Plant Services, Lincln Plice Department, and Lincln Fire & Rescue. 9. Perfrm cntinuus inspectins f campus buildings n a daily basis including lcking and unlcking entry drs; checking authrized building uses, and insuring prper functining f building alarm r camera systems.

Perfrm rutine mnitring f safety cncerns and hazards fr all campus buildings and grunds, including fire dangers, lighting needs, txic spills, water leaks, and heating/ht water equipment prblems. 11. Enfrce campus parking and traffic regulatins n a daily basis in rder t ensure cmpliance with campus parking/traffic regulatins, ensure emergency vehicle access at all times. 12. Prepare clear and thrugh written incident reprts as necessary fr use in cllege disciplinary prceedings and give testimny at student judicial hearings when requested. 13. Participate in staff training activities, ff-campus wrkshps and departmental meetings as needed in rder t maintain current knwledge and certificatin f essential campus safety practices and prcedures. 14. Perfrm ther duties as required t maintain a safe and secure campus and supprt the cllege s missin. 15. Review, crrect, and apprve staff generated reprts and dcuments t ensure accuracy and cmpleteness. OTHER DUTIES: Prvide assistance t members f the Unin Cllege cmmunity, as well as its guests, n a daily basis in rder t further the cllege s reputatin fr service by: a. Assisting peple with stranded/lcked vehicles n campus. b. Escrting individuals frm buildings t and frm their vehicles. c. Prviding security services fr special events, such as gate cntrl, crwd cntrl, parking cntrl, lcking and unlcking rms fr meetings, etc. d. Identifying and reprting maintenance issues t Plant Services. e. Open ffices r rm fr authrized use during after hur requests. f. Make educatinal presentatins n safety tpics t the different cllege cmmunity grups. g. Answer visitr requests fr infrmatin n events, lcatins, and individual whereabuts. h. Perfrm related duties as necessary t supprt the Unin Cllege missin. NEEDED GENERAL SKILLS: DECISION MAKING: (Level f difficulty r intensity f the mental prcess) The effective Campus Safety Directr must knw hw t incrprate all f the facts available in an incident with his/her training, experience and knwledge f cllege and department plicies. Crrect decisins can invlve handling a situatin alne, calling fr assistance, summning EMS/Fire/Plice r cnsulting with cllege fficials. Decisins must be made in a timely and crrect manner t guarantee the health and safety f the cmmunity members. Typical decisin-making issues wuld include: 1. Whether t cntact emergency medical/mental health persnnel t deal with injured r ill subjects. 2. T determine when it is apprpriate t cntact law enfrcement. 3. When t intervene in physical cnfrntatins that arise n campus. Added nte: The Unin Cllege Campus Safety staff frequently wrks in situatins that expse them t physical risks frm emergencies, criminal situatins r persnal cnfrntatins.

Prmpt and effective decisin-making is essential t reslve many situatins in a timely manner. 2. The Campus Safety Directr creates, requests apprval and maintains the annual budget alltted t Campus Safety. COMMUNICATION: 1. Student Services staff: Regular cntact in persn/telephne/radi t prvide accurate sharing f infrmatin. 2. Residence Hall Assistance: Cntinuusly in persn and by radi t incidents in and arund the residence facilities. 3. Switchbard staff: Cntinuus radi cntact t respnd t campus incidents. 4. Plant Services: Radi/telephne/pager cntact t reprt facility prblems r safety cncerns. 5. Health/Cunseling staff: Cntact as needed by radi/telephne/persnal t respnd t medical/mental health issues. 6. Ortner Center/Cnference/Scheduling/Unin Market/Athletics staff: Cntact as needed t supprt event r activity needs. 7. Student/Staff/Faculty/Visitrs: Cntact as needed by radi/telephne/ in persn fr requests fr infrmatin, assistance, directins, etc. 8. Lincln Plice, Lincln Fire and Rescue Department/Emergency Medical Services: As needed t respnd effectively t campus emergencies and share infrmatin. RESULTS OF ACTIONS: The errrs f cnsequences in this psitin are clearly thse f judgment, and nt just clerical r technical. A mistake in judgment r pr respnse culd threaten the life r health f a persn. These ptential risks are presented cntinuusly and daily in such areas as: 1. Medical/mental health emergencies. 2. Criminal incidents r attempted incidents. 3. Physical altercatins, arguments, crwd cntrl situatins. 4. Fire safety, hazardus cnditins r equipment failures. 5. Natural disasters. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: An expressed cmmitment t Jesus Christ, the teachings and missin f the Seventh-day Adventist Church; a Seventh-day Adventist church member in gd and regular standing. A bachelr s degree and prir law enfrcement r campus law enfrcement experience preferred. Past supervisry experience strngly preferred.
