Biography of Steven L. Jager, CPA, MST, USTCP Mr. Jager is the Founder and Principal of Steven L. Jager, CPA, An Accountancy Corporation. The Firm is a boutique accountancy Firm with a special emphasis in tax controversies and accountancy services to individuals and closely-held businesses. Mr. Jager is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants; the California Society of Certified Public Accountants; the Society of California Accountants; an associate member of the American Bar Association; and the Federal Bar Association. In addition, Mr. Jager is an associate member of the California State Bar, Taxation Section, and is among a small handful of Non-lawyers in California to presently serve as an active member of the State Bar Committee on Tax Procedure and Litigation. Mr. Jager is admitted to practice in the United States Tax Court. In the entire United States, fewer than 300 non-lawyers hold the distinction being admitted to the Bar of the United States Tax Court. Mr. Jager holds a Masters Degree in Taxation from California State University, Northridge. He received his B.A. degree from UCLA in 1979. Subsequently he studied Accounting, Finance and Marketing at California State University, Los Angeles and obtained his California CPA Certificate in 1986. Philip J. Wilson TAX & BUSINESS SERVICES Philip J. Wilson is office managing partner of Marcum s Irvine, California, office and is leader of the Firm s national Tax Controversy group. John Tuzynski IRS - SB/SE Legislative Implementation Lead John was born and raised in Erie, Pennsylvania and attended Penn State University Behrend campus, where he earned a bachelor s degree in Accounting with a minor in Economics. John has held many positions throughout his 33-year career at IRS ranging from Revenue Agent to frontline and senior manager positions in various field and headquarters functions. This includes serving as the national program manager for flow-through entities, unreported income and market specialization. In 2004, John became the first Chief of Employment Tax with national program responsibility for IRS Employment Tax Policy and Employment Tax field operations until 2014. During that time, John also implemented some early provisions of the Affordable Care Act. From October 2015 through October 2017, John assumed the position of Director, Examination Technical Services where he was responsible for providing executive leadership and direction over the technical review and procedural support of field and office examination for both the Small Business/Self Employed (SB/SE) and Large Business & International (LB&I) business operating divisions. John has also served as the Acting Area Director, Field Examination, in the North Atlantic, South Atlantic and Western Areas and currently is the Director, Examination, Central Area. At present, he is on a detail assignment implementing 29 provisions of the 119 provisions of the Tax Cuts and Job Act. John is married to Laurie, who also works at IRS, and has a son Philip. He resides with his wife and two cats, Smudge and Sabrina, in the state of Maryland.
