Indexing Terms The following terms have been used to index the description of this collection in the library's online public access catalog. Plaza Church, (Los Angeles, Calif.) California missions Catholic Church--Missions--California--History--19th century. Catholic Church--Missions--California. Church records and registers Series 1 Los Angeles Plaza Church Registers 1826-1970 Series size: 2.4 linear feet Scope and Content Original dates of parish registers span the years 1826 to 1970. Brother Henry began to microfilm parish registers starting in the early 1960s. Series One contains forty-three reels of 35mm microfilm containing parish registers from the Plaza Church (Our Lady Queen of Angels, Nuestra Señora de los Angeles) in Los Angeles, California, photographed by Brother Henry, F.S.C. The extent of the reels for Series 1: Los Angeles Plaza Churc include: primarily baptism registers, burial registers, and marriage registers. It is on this basis that the Plaza Church series has been divided into three subseries: Subseries A: Baptisms; Subseries B: Burials; Subseries C: Marriages. In addition to listing names and dates each register includes a full alphabetical index of names. Researchers should note that registers are referred to as "books" or "libros" throughout the reels as noted by the title page found at the beginning of each register. Registers are handwritten primarily in Spanish with some records written in English. The readability of registers varies throughout due to quality of photograph or original registers. Some reels contain registers pertaining to different activities (e.g., Baptisms and Marriages on the same reel, or, Marriages and Burials on the same reel). Researchers should note that Brother Henry did include a typed cover page to aid in the microfilming indicating the type and book number at the beginning of each register. Brother Henry also included photographs of affidavits for Baptism Register 6, Marriage Registers 1 and 2. Affidavits were included to verify changes or corrections for names and dates. Additional resources included in the reels include postcards of the Our Lady Queen of Angels, a printed page from a book (''Privelegia et Facultates pro Jubilaeo ''), registers unrelated to the Plaza Church such as: records from Mission de San Carlos, scans from "Out West,"scans from "Westways" magazine, records from Saint Rose Academy in San Francisco (1976-1981), and pages from Cathedral High s yearbook.
