How to Enroll a NEW 4-H Member in 4-H Online Members and volunteers must enroll your Family name first and then add members to the family. Then you ll add members. Go to 4honline.com. Scroll down and choose Maryland as your state. Click I need to set up a profile. Are you in a military 4-H club Do not check the box (no 4-H military clubs in Talbot County) Click I need to set up a profile. County Select Talbot from the drop-down menu. Email Enter and confirm a valid e-mail address. Last Name Enter the last name for the family (If the family has members with more than one last name, you may want to create a second family profile.) Password Enter and confirm a password that you can remember. Role The only option = family. Click Create Login. Family Information Profile Information Fill in all in all required fields (red asterisk) For Correspondence Preference, select Email so you will continue to receive e-mail updates from the 4-H Office. Update member records with the same address Do not check the box. It is only used for changes you may want to make in the future i.e. new address, phone, etc. Password Management This section is only used when you want to change your password. Member List Add a New Family Member select Youth and click Add Member. If family members have different last names, the system allows you to change the last name as you enroll. (Talbot 4-H Volunteers need to select Adult in order to enroll themselves. The information volunteers enter will vary slightly from the information that members enter.) Profile Information Enter all required information (red asterisk). Birth Date The year must be 4 digits (2015, etc.) If you use the calendar tool, always select year first and then month/date. Gender Select male or female. Years in 4-H This defaults to 1. Feel free to update it to match your years of participation. Fill in parent names and phone numbers and emergency contact information.

Second Household These boxes allow entry of second residence information for members who live part time with one family and part time with another family. Volunteer *****When you enroll 4-H members, leave this set to NO. (Maryland 4-H doesn t consider members to be volunteers.) Ethnicity/Race/Residence Check all boxes that apply. This information helps 4-H track the demographics of people who participate in 4-H. The town of Easton has more than 10,000 residents. Military Service of Family You MUST make some selection or the system won t let you continue. There is a No one in my family is serving in the military selection. School Information This section is optional EXCEPT for Grade. Please select the member s current grade and click Continue. Publicity Release Read the publicity (photo) release. This says that it s okay for 4-H to take photos with your child in them and use them for promotional purposes such as on a 4-H flyer. Check Yes if you agree and type the member and parent/guardian signatures. Typing names is accepted as an electronic signature. Maryland 4-H Youth Code of Conduct All Maryland 4-H members must agree to abide by the code of conduct which is based on Character Counts Pillars of Character. Please review the expectations with your child so he or she understands proper behavior for 4-H meetings and events. Click Yes to agree to follow the code of conduct and type the member and parent/guardian signatures. Maryland 4-H Code of Animal Science Ethics: IMPORTANT! Maryland 4-H members who participate in animal projects must agree to follow the code of animal science ethics that says you will treat your animal ethically and, if animals will be eaten by people, that the meat is free of medications or other contaminants. If your child works on animal projects, please review the code of ethics with him or her. If relevant, click the member and guardian signature boxes and type the member and guardian signatures and the date. T-Shirt Size Please select your child s current T-shirt size.

Health Form According to the 4-H Center, the health form page is optional for enrollment but must be filled in when members are planning to attend camps, overnight trips, and other related programs. You may choose to enter allergies and other relevant health concerns. Select a Club Select a club. THEN click Add Club so it will be registered. (Add a second or third club if you are in more than one.) Add a Project Select a project. Please choose the generic project name (e.g. Dogs) instead of a specific project book name. THEN click Add Project so it will be registered. Repeat for as many projects as you have. Add a Group Nothing to add here. Click Submit Enrollment. Your account will say pending until a 4-H staff person has reviewed your enrollment information and accepted each member in your family. You will receive a confirmation e-mail. ANNUAL 4-H PARTICIPATION FEE Maryland 4-H requires counties to collect a $10 participation fee from each member each year. The funds are used to help support 4-H programs across the state. There are three options for payment depending on how your club handles enrollment: (1) Your club leader may collect $10 for each member (maximum of $30 paid per family) and then write a club check payable to Talbot County EAC (Extension Advisory Council) to cover all members. (2) Your club leader may use money from a club fundraiser to cover part or all of the participation fees. (3) Your club leader may ask you to write a check payable to Talbot County EAC (Extension Advisory Council) and give it to the Extension Office. You may also pay your fee online if you club doesn t collect payments from members. A link to the payment website will be available when enrollment opens for next year. Contact the 4-H Office if you need to request a scholarship to cover your participation fee. VIEWING AND EDITING YOUR FAMILY S INFORMATION After you have enrolled, you will see a bar like the one below. Your family will be able to view or edit your information if you click on My Member List or click the word Edit next to one of the family member names shown on the screen under Member/Volunteer List. You may want to log out and then log in again to make sure your enrollment worked. Please contact the Extension office with any concerns. Thanks!

How to Reenroll a 4-H Member in 4-H Online If you are already a 4-H member and you need to reenroll for the coming year, the process is simple: Go to 4honline.com. Scroll down and choose Maryland as your state. Log in to your account Click I have a profile, enter your e-mail address and password, choose Family as your role, and click Login. (If you have forgotten your password, click I forgot my password. Remember that passwords must be at least 8 characters and must contain at least one capital letter and one number.) Member/Volunteer List This list will show all of the members and official UME 4-H volunteers in your family who were previously enrolled. They will have an INACTIVE status once the enrollment period for the new year has begun. (If your status is still Active from the previous year, you will need to wait until the state office opens enrollment for the new year.) If you need to update your family information, click Edit Family. If not, click Edit next to the name of the person you want to reenroll. Scroll to the bottom of the page and click Enroll for (new year). Personal Information Make any necessary changes and click Continue. Note: Volunteer: When you reenroll 4-H members, leave Volunteer set to NO. (Maryland 4-H doesn t consider members to be volunteers.) Publicity Release Read the publicity (photo) release.
