Grand Knights Report There are several months to go in the fraternal year and plenty of time to close it out with a bang! We have a great opportunity to meet membership quota. Let me say that again, we have an opportunity to meet the membership quota of 8 net new recruits this year! So far we have gained 5 members, so we are even for the first 8 months of the year. Right now, we have 3 completed Form 100s and we still have a chance at getting these men to a degree in May. We will be having a Church drive at OLPH in March and a Church drive at St. Charles and St. Hyacinth in April. Also, I have been contacted by a prospective recruit. That's right, a gentleman from Little Flower parish actually called me and I am following up with him! We have 10 active members that consistently come to meetings and get involved in events, so we should be able to count on all 10 of us to contribute to the Church drives in some way. Think about this, if we get 8 new members from the 2 Church drives this Spring, we will have met the quota. I don't know about you, but that's not good enough for me! What would happen if each one of us was successful at bringing in 1 practical Catholic gentlemen in addition to the 8 we may gain at the Church drives? What if only 4 of those 8 gentlemen was in that elusive 40 and under crowd? I think that would constitute a culture shift for our council and a great possibility of continued success and growth because the 40 and under crowd will most likely bring a friend who will in turn bring in someone else. So, here is the challenge I'm laying out to you today. Review the Knights of Columbus elevator talk and actually use it to recruit some people after Mass. If you have never seen the elevator talk, it goes like this: 1.) Ask "Are you a member of the Knights of Columbus?" Most likely the answer is no. 2.) Ask "What do you know about the Knights of Columbus?" Let him speak and agree with everything he says, unless it is negative. Then tell him the Knights has made you a better father, husband, and Catholic (tell them how you have practiced your faith better since joining the Knights). 3.) Ask "Have you ever considered joining?" Have a Form 100 ready for him! That's it! Do you see how that is better than simply asking "Do you want to join the Knights of Columbus"? Asking this way usually elicits one response (No-usually due to time or the thought that it's a huge commitment they cannot honor). So let's not do that! Gentlemen, I am having a great time leading this council. We have achieved stasis and are poised for something greater. Everything we have done this year has set the stage for growth. Let's finish out with a bang and truly grow this council! Vivat Jesus! Fraternally, Doug

Field Agent s Report for March 2016 Plan for this Tax Day and into the Future? April 15 (tax day) is right around the corner. It s become popular this time of year to encourage the opening of an IRA or similar retirement annuity, or the depositing of additional funds into an existing account, as a tax-savings vehicle. Or perhaps someone has tried to convince you to open an account, touting the rate of interest that money in one of these accounts can earn. Let me join the chorus of folks encouraging you to open or add funds to an annuity, but you re a different reason. Certainly, contributing money to a Knights of Columbus annuity will allow you to save some money on your income tax return. And, our annuities do pay a very competitive interest rate, consistent with our primary goal of absolute safety of principal. Opening or adding to an annuity for these reasons, however, strikes me as taking a short-term view of a product that is designed to provide long-term security. How much security? How does retirement income that you cannot outlive guaranteed sound to you? Here at the Knights of Columbus, you can open a retirement annuity for as little as $300.00. Consistent and disciplined savings placed into that annuity over time can guarantee you an income at retirement that you cannot outlive. That guarantee along with the fact that no one has ever lost money left in a Knights of Columbus annuity (remember absolute safety of principal) really will provide you with peace of mind. I am happy to meet with you at your convenience and in your home to explain in detail the benefits of opening a Knights of Columbus annuity, along with the benefits of our top-rated life insurance, disability income and long-term care insurance plans. I look forward to meeting with you. Contact me today to learn more about our products. Gary Christie Field Agent K of C 419-250-6310 Holding Company Meeting The St. Jude Holding Company will be having a meeting immediately after the Tuesday, April 5, 7:30PM officers meeting. This will be a very important meeting to discuss the current status and future use of our hall. It is a legal requirement that we have a separate, property corporation meeting each year. As a reminder, all Knights who are members of St. Jude/South Toledo council are also members of St. Jude Holding Company and should attend this meeting. St. Jude Holding Company is the organization that owns and operates the building. Supreme Visit On Monday, March 7, our Supreme Representative Joseph Ramirez will be speaking at St. Patrick of Heatherdowns. Brother Ramirez is the Past State Deputy of Iowa. He will be speaking on the Domestic Church and how it will affect the Knights of Columbus. He will also be discussing membership. The presentation will begin at 7:00PM. All Knights are welcome. Church Drive Brother Knights please join us on March 11 and 12 for a membership drive at Our Lady of Perpetual Help (OLPH). We especially want to see you if this is your parish. Mass times are Saturday at 5:00PM and Sunday at 9:00AM and 11:00AM.
