16 Ways to Bid Which bidding method should I choose? There is no charge to register or bid at a DVLA Auction. There are 5 ways in which you can bid. Most people choose to attend the auction and bid in person. For those who cannot attend, they may choose to bid over the telephone, via the Internet, or leave an absentee bid or SMS bid. Bidding in Person There s nothing quite like being at the auction yourself and we strongly recommend that you bid in person. Bids in person will be given priority. You can pre-register allowing you to enter the auction without the need to register when you arrive. Please note deadlines apply (see page 4 for details). FREE TO REGISTER FREE TO BID Absentee Bid These bids are also known as Book Bids, Postal Bids, Written Bids or Commissioned Bids. Let us know your maximum bid and you will secure your lot for just one bid increment (usually 50 or 100) higher than the last bid against you, without exceeding your maximum bidding limit. Please note deadlines apply for Assisted Absentee Bids placed by email, fax or post (see page 4 for details). Absentee Bids can be placed online up to 1 hour before the Lot is due to be offered for sale. Telephone Bid BCA provides a service where we will call a customer to take their bids a few minutes before their registration is offered for sale. Bidders wishing to bid via telephone must register before the deadline (see page 4 for details). Internet Bid This is a live bidding experience. We will send you a login code to access the live bidding site before the auction. Please note that due to reliance on various technological factors, connectivity and conditions beyond our control, we cannot guarantee the acceptance of bids made through the Internet. Please note deadlines apply (see page 4 for details). SMS Bid We also accept Absentee bids by SMS from registered bidders. Bids can be placed up to one hour before the lot is due to be offered. Please note once a text bid has been sent, customers cannot assume it has been received until an SMS reply is received to confirm the bid has been processed. Customers will be liable for any SMS bids made from their mobile number. See page 10 for details on how to bid by SMS. If you wish to bid by telephone, internet, absentee bid or SMS bid you must register before the auction. Bid deadlines apply, so register early. Please see page 4 for details.

THE HAYCOCK HOTEL. PETERBOROUGH WEDNESDAY 21. THURSDAY 22. FRIDAY 23. NOVEMBER 2018 17 Questions and Answers What are Reserve Prices? Reserve Prices are the minimum prices at which lots will be sold. All reserve prices are shown in the catalogue for every auction. Please note that these do not include the additional charges of VAT, Buyer s Premium (minimum 40 + VAT) and Assignment Fee. The eventual selling price will depend on demand on the day. You may like to check our auction sold facility: dvlaregistrations.direct.gov.uk/search/previousauction-plates.html to see what similar registrations have sold for at previous auctions. Where does the bidding start? Bidding normally starts at the Reserve Price and the auctioneers will seek to take bids from the auction hall first even if there are Absentee Bids of the same value. When there are no bids in the auction hall and there are two competing Absentee Bids, the bidding will start at one bid (usually 100) more than the lower Absentee Bid. Where there are two identical Absentee Bids, the auctioneer will accept the one that was received first. Are there any spending limits? Anyone wishing to spend over 7,500 hammer price must indicate this when registering as a bidder. We may need to contact you for further details or deposit payment. What bids will the auctioneer take? At the auctioneer s discretion, bids increase by a minimum of 50 where bidding is below 1,000 and 100 where bidding is above 1,000. Larger bid increments may apply as the hammer price increases. What happens to registrations that do not reach their reserve prices? The auctioneer will not accept any bid on a registration that is below the published reserve price. If a registration does not receive a bid at reserve price or above, it will be declared as Unsold by the auctioneer. Unsold registrations are normally available to purchase for a few days after each auction, see website for details. The DVLA may, at its discretion, include such registrations in future auctions without prior notice. Can I place a DVLA registration on a vehicle registered in Northern Ireland? Registration numbers can be purchased from the DVLA if you live in Northern Ireland, and can be assigned directly onto a vehicle registered in GB or Northern Ireland. For further details you can call the DVLA Vehicle Enquiry Unit on 0300 123 0883. Are there any extra costs required to assign a registration to a vehicle? All registrations purchased in a DVLA Auction are supplied on a V750 Certificate of Entitlement and the Assignment Fee is included in the final purchase price (see What Will it Cost? breakdown on page 18). There is no further charge for DVLA to assign that registration to a vehicle registered in the name of either the Purchaser or the Nominee (if specified). However, please note that some insurance companies may charge an administration fee to record the transfer of a registration mark onto a vehicle and to supply a new Certificate of Motor Insurance. dvlaauction.co.uk/live

18 What Will It Cost? It is important to set yourself a limit before you bid and then to stick to it. When doing this, please bear in mind that the sale price (also called the Hammer Price ) is subject to VAT, the Auctioneer s Buyer s Premium (minimum 40 + VAT) together with the Assignment Fee. This table shows how the hammer price relates to the final amount you will have to pay. Taxes, premiums and fees correct at time of printing.
