(Rick) Holtz, 2013 Biographical note: John M. Noyes made his residence in the town of Lanark, in Carroll County, Illinois. He was born in1834 the town of North Post, in Suffolk County, New York. At the time of his enlistment in Lanark on August 13, 1862, he was 28 years old, 5 ' 10 tall, with light hair and complexion, blue eyes, and was married. Mr. Noyes list his occupation as a railroader. He was mustered in on September 4, 1862, in Rockford, Illinois, and joined in his enlistment with a Mr. John H. Bohn. He was mustered out in Concord, North Carolina, on June 21, 1865, (completing a term of 3 years service) and achieving the rank of Sargeant. A Lietenant Wedemeyer oversaw his discharge of service. Noyes was enrolled on August 13, 1862 to serve three years, and was discharged on June 21, 1865, at Concord, North Carolina by reason of expiration of his term of service and G. O. 83 War Dept. C.T. Was born in Long Island, New York. Is 28 years of age. Five feet nine inches tall. Fair complexion. Blue eyes. Brown hair. Listed occupation as a farmer. Given at Concord, North Carolina, June 21, 1865 signed, John G. Wedemeyer Commanding the Regiment Doc. #2 of 5: Department of the Interior, Bureau of Pensions, dated, July 13, 1895, Certificate No. 892.00, Des Moines, Iowa, and addressed to John M. Noyes, Stockville, Nebraska, is a notifcation that properly prepared vouchers have been prepared and transmitted to your address, and that a pension check is due and will be sent forthcoming. Noyes, Sargeant Company I, 92 nd Regiment, Illinois Volunteer Infantry, is entitled to a pension rate of Fifteen dollars per month commencing on the 18 th day of March, 1907. (From the Reissue under the Act of February 6, 1907, No.#892,007.). Given at the Department of the Interior, 29 th, June 1907, and of the Independence of the United States of America, the 131 st. Noteworthy: This is to certify in conformity with the laws of the United States that John M. Noyes, who was Sargeant, Company I, 92 nd Regiment of Illinois Infantry Volunteers is entitled to a pension at the rate of Twenty dollars per month to commence on the Twenty-Seventh day of January, 1908. Mondell, H.R., from The Department of the Interior, Bureau of Pensions, Washington, D.C., advising Mr. Mondell (Under the Act of February 6, 1907), that the Increase claim for the pension of John M. Noyes, late Sargent, Company I., 92 nd Regiment of Illiniois Infantry Volunteers, whose address is Luther, Wyoming, under Certificate No. 892.007

at the rate of $20.00 per month from January 27, 1908, and that certificate will soon be forwarded to the pension agent at Des Moines, Iowa for transmittal to the beneficiary with voucher for payment. Signed, Very truly yours, V.Warner, Commissioner Noteworthy: This document notifies the reader that Mr. Noyes had passed away, and that his wife, the beneficiary, had filed this claim (though her name is not specifically mentioned in this notification). Doc. # 4 of 5: Reissue under the Act of February 6, 1907, No. 892,007, The United States of America, Department of the Interior, Bureau of Pensions Noteworthy: This document certifies the entitlement of Sargent John M. Noyes, Co. I., 92 nd Regiment, Illinois Volunteer Infantry to receive a rate of pension for the amount of Fifteen Dollars per month, commencing on the Eighteenth day of March, 1907. (Note, at the time of this issue, Mr. Noyes was 73 years old.). Given at the Department of the Interior, this Twenty-ninth day of June, one thousand nine hundred and seven, and of the Independence of the United States of America, the one hundred and thirty-first.
