Financial protection for your family + a great savings opportunity GROUP UNIVERSAL LIFE INSURANCE Group Universal Life (GUL) Insurance is more than just a plain life insurance plan. Sure, it lets you buy a very substantial sum of life insurance coverage for yourself, as well as coverage for your spouse and children.* But you can also use it to save while earning a guaranteed, tax-deferred rate of interest and having full access to your money. Choose life insurance only, or life insurance and the Cash Fund feature. It s up to you. GUL INSURANCE OFFERS: Guaranteed coverage amounts for new hires.** Enroll within the first 60 days after your eligibility starts and you re guaranteed coverage for yourself of up to three times your base annual salary (up to $250,000). High levels of coverage for yourself, no matter when you enroll. Want more than three times your base annual salary or $250,000 of coverage, or you aren t a new employee? Just provide evidence of good health to MetLife, the Plan s underwriter and insurer, and you can enroll for up to eight times your base annual salary, up to $2,500,000, at any time. Keep up with family status changes. You can increase your coverage by one multiple of your base annual salary without having to provide evidence of good health for most family status changes, as long as you do so within 60 days of the family status change. Family coverage. Include your family for life insurance coverage and you can choose from $10,000 to $100,000 (or the lesser of two times your base annual salary) for your spouse, and $10,000 or $20,000 for each eligible child. (Your spouse will need to provide evidence of good health satisfactory to MetLife for coverage over $30,000.) Lower rates if you don t use tobacco. Your life insurance rate will be lower if you did not use any form of tobacco within 12 months before enrolling for coverage. This also applies to your spouse s rate. Portability. Leave L-3 for any reason, including disability or retirement, and it s easy to continue your GUL coverage, as long as the group policy is in effect. Please note that rates for former employees and spouses, including retirees, are higher than active rates, and they will continue to be based on attained age and tobacco user status. Competitive Cash Fund interest rate. Earn at least 4% interest on your money each year (guaranteed through 2016). Access to your Cash Fund. Reach for the money in your Cash Fund whenever you need it, through loans and withdrawals. You don t pay tax on the interest you earn until it s withdrawn and then, only if you have a gain that s greater than your total contributions to the Plan (for life insurance and the Cash Fund). Exclusive services, provided at no cost to you. These include simple will preparation, legal and financial planning assistance to families with special needs children, and a survivor assistance program to help you and your family handle certain practical matters following the death of a loved one. Accelerated death benefit. Receive advance payment of up to 80% (up to a $250,000 maximum) of your life insurance proceeds if you re terminally ill and are expected to live 12 months or less (may vary by state). Use GUL to save while earning a guaranteed, tax-deferred rate of interest and having full access to your money. * Children are covered to age 19 (age 25 if an unmarried full-time student). 2 **You and/or your dependents must meet eligibility requirements. If you request more coverage than the guaranteed issue coverage amount, or enroll after the initial special enrollment period, you will be required to provide evidence of insurability. Coverage will take effect after MetLife agrees in writing to cover you and/or your dependents. 3

Insurance coverage when accidents happen VOLUNTARY ACCIDENTAL DEATH & DISMEMBERMENT INSURANCE PLAN Accidents happen. So it s important to have insurance coverage in place when they do. The Voluntary Accidental Death & Dismemberment (AD&D) Insurance Plan provides that coverage. The Plan offers inexpensive 24-hour-a-day coverage for you and your family for covered accidents occurring at home, at work or on vacation. COVERAGE FOR YOU. You have a broad range of coverage choices from as little as one times to as much as ten times your base annual salary (which is rounded to the next higher $1,000), all the way up to a $1,500,000 maximum benefit. Your beneficiary gets a benefit if you die; all or a portion of your benefit goes to you if you are severely injured in a covered accident. COVERAGE FOR YOUR FAMILY. Extend coverage to your family for a relatively low additional cost, and each eligible family member will be covered for a percentage of your coverage amount: Your spouse will have 60% of your coverage amount, up to a $300,000 maximum benefit. Your dependent children* will each have 15% of your coverage amount, up to a $50,000 maximum benefit per child. Family benefits are paid to you. VOLUNTARY AD&D INSURANCE OFFERS ADDITIONAL BENEFITS, INCLUDING THE FOLLOWING: Special family coverage. Elect family coverage, and if you and your enrolled spouse both die within 90 days of the same covered accident, your spouse s coverage will be increased to equal your coverage amount. If you die from a covered accident: your dependents may be eligible for a benefit to cover day care expenses; coverage for all other enrolled family members will continue for up to 12 months at no cost to them; and a benefit may be payable to help your enrolled spouse and children with education expenses. Waiver of premium. Become disabled and your coverage will continue at no cost to you if you re receiving benefits from an L-3-sponsored long-term disability plan. Seat belt/airbag benefit. If you (or an enrolled dependent) die in a covered automobile accident while wearing a seat belt or using an airbag, the Plan will pay an additional benefit. Emergency evacuation coverage. If you (or an enrolled dependent) become injured in a covered accident or have a covered emergency sickness more than 100 miles from where you live, the Plan will pay for medically necessary emergency evacuation service. Certain limits apply. The Plan offers 24-hour-a-day coverage for you and your family for covered accidents occurring at home, at work or on vacation. * Children must be under age 19 (age 25 if attending an accredited institution of higher learning on a full-time basis) and primarily dependent upon you or your spouse for support and maintenance. 4 Voluntary AD&D coverage is provided by AIG Benefit Solutions and is underwritten by National Union Fire Insurance Company of Pittsburgh, PA, with its principal place of business in New York, NY. This is only a brief description of the coverage available. The policy contains exclusions, limitations, reductions and termination provisions. The insurance company is responsible for the financial obligations of insurance products it issues and is a member of American International Group, Inc. (AIG). 5

Providing expert, professional, affordable legal assistance METLAW LEGAL SERVICES PLAN Most of us have designated individuals we entrust with keeping certain parts of our lives in order a doctor and dentist for our physical well-being an accountant or financial professional for handling tax matters even a mechanic to keep our vehicles running smoothly. However, when it comes to legal issues, most of us don t have a lawyer. We tend to believe that legal counsel is unneeded unless trouble arises. In reality, however, situations calling for expert legal services and advice arise frequently in normal, everyday life. In fact, many of us don t consult an attorney when we should. Fortunately, as an L-3 employee, you can have an attorney on call whenever you need one easily and inexpensively through the MetLaw Legal Services Plan, insured through Hyatt Legal Plans (a MetLife Company). The MetLaw Legal Services Plan covers you, your spouse and your eligible dependents for only $18.75 per month. It offers a broad range of legal services, paying 100% of fees for fully covered services provided by a network attorney; there are no deductibles, no claims forms, no waiting period to 6 receive services, and no limits on how often services can be used. Financial matters, such as debt collection, credit negotiations, identity theft and bankruptcy You can choose from a nationwide network of over 13,000 licensed, accredited and experienced network attorneys who average 25 years in the legal profession. Juvenile matters, such as juvenile court defense and parental responsibility matters THE METLAW NETWORK ATTORNEY YOU CHOOSE WILL PROVIDE REPRESENTATION AND CONSULTATIONS FOR THE FOLLOWING, AND MUCH MORE*: Real estate matters, such as home sales, refinancing and home equity loans for your primary residence Estate planning documents, such as wills, trusts and powers of attorney Family law, such as uncontested adoption, guardianship and protection from domestic violence Traffic offenses, such as defense of traffic infractions (excluding DUI) and driving privileges restoration *Excluded from coverage are divorce, any business-related matters (including rental property), issues relating to L-3, appeals, class action suits and any matter where a spouse or dependent s interest might conflict with your interest. Consumer protection, such as disputes over consumer goods and services, and small claims assistance Document preparation/review, such as affidavits, deeds, demand letters and mortgages Identity theft defense, including consultations with an attorney about potential creditor actions resulting from identity theft; attorney services to contact creditors, credit bureaus and financial institutions; and defense services for specific creditor actions over disputed accounts. If you enroll in the MetLaw Legal Services Plan but decide to choose an out-of-network attorney, you can do so at any time; the Plan provides coverage for non-network attorney services based on a reimbursement schedule that spells out the maximum amount payable for specific services. When you enroll in the simple, easy-to-use MetLaw Legal Services Plan, you also get reduced fees for representation for ineligible Plan services (such as personal injury, probate and estate administration matters) plus the convenience of self-service through a user-friendly website that provides tools such as: Attorney Locator (to find an attorney in your area) Law Firm E-Panel (to send a question via e-mail to an attorney anytime, and receive an answer electronically) Explanations of covered services Free, downloadable legal documents Life Guide, with helpful information about common life events An extensive section on identity theft prevention, including FAQs and helpful links. Note that when you enroll you are doing so for the full Plan Year (the calendar year) and must remain in the MetLaw Legal Services Plan throughout the entire year you can drop coverage only during the Annual Enrollment period, for elections effective the following January 1. 7

Financial assistance when you re in the hospital HOSPITAL INCOME PLAN Get help with medical costs and everyday expenses during a hospital stay. While your medical plan generally pays many of the costs associated with hospitalization, it doesn t cover everything. You may have a deductible to meet or coinsurance to pay. You or your family members may suffer a loss of income. Whatever it is, out-of-pocket costs can add up fast. The Hospital Income Plan offers protection against large out-of-pocket expenses by paying a lump-sum cash benefit directly to you when you have an inpatient hospital stay for covered services. The Plan is administered by Aetna and coverage is guaranteed, with no evidence of insurability required. You are not required to be enrolled in an L-3 medical plan. EXTRA CASH WHEN YOU NEED IT MOST. You can use your Hospital Income Plan cash benefit to help pay hospital-related expenses, such as your medical plan s annual deductible or coinsurance.* Or, you can use the money to pay everyday expenses like mortgage payments, day care or utility bills. How you use the money is entirely up to you. COVERAGE FOR YOU AND YOUR FAMILY. Each enrolled dependent is eligible to receive a cash benefit if he/she is admitted to the hospital. Benefits are paid directly to the admitted family member and are in addition to any benefits you receive under your medical plan. HOW THE HOSPITAL INCOME PLAN WORKS: A lump sum benefit. The Plan pays a one-time, annual lump sum benefit of $1,000 for the first eligible inpatient hospital admission each Plan Year. A daily benefit. The Plan pays you an additional $100 per day for each day you remain hospitalized, up to 10 days. Inpatient days do not need to be consecutive. Your bills don t stop when you re in the hospital. The Hospital Income Plan is the smart way to protect your and your family s finances in the event of a hospital stay. An additional intensive care benefit. The Plan pays an additional $100 per day if any of your 10 covered days are spent in an intensive care unit. Automatic claims processing for Aetna participants. If you re enrolled in an Aetna medical plan, Aetna will use your medical claims information to help speed the processing of your hospital claims. Online claims access. If you re enrolled in an Aetna medical plan, you have access to online claims information via the Aetna Navigator secure member website. 10 *The Hospital Income Plan provides limited coverage and is not intended to substitute for comprehensive medical plan benefits. 11

A safety net in the event of serious illness CRITICAL ILLNESS INSURANCE Serious illness can strike anyone. Make sure your family s finances are protected. Your medical insurance may not be enough to cover your out-of-pocket costs and lost income if you experience a serious illness. Critical Illness Insurance pays a lump-sum cash benefit to help you cover expenses such as your medical plan s annual deductible and coinsurance, or everyday expenses like your mortgage, car payments or utility bills. The Plan is administered by MetLife and coverage is guaranteed, with no evidence of insurability required. You are not required to be enrolled in an L-3 medical plan. WHAT S COVERED. When you enroll, you choose the benefit amount either $15,000 per event ($45,000 lifetime maximum benefit) or $30,000 per event ($90,000 lifetime maximum benefit). The Plan provides a lump sum cash payment upon diagnosis of covered conditions such as*: Alzheimer s disease Cancer (full or partial benefit, depending on diagnosis) Coronary artery bypass graft Heart attack Kidney failure Recovering from a serious illness is challenge enough without adding extra financial stress. Critical Illness Insurance helps take the worry out of the cost of recovery so you can focus on getting well. 12 Major organ transplant Stroke. *Critical Illness Insurance provides limited coverage and is not intended to substitute for comprehensive medical plan benefits. COVERAGE FOR YOU AND YOUR FAMILY. You may elect to enroll your eligible dependents. Benefits are paid directly to the affected family member and are in addition to any benefits you may receive under your L-3 medical plan. HOW CRITICAL ILLNESS INSURANCE WORKS: Lump sum benefit. When you are diagnosed with a covered illness, the Plan pays a lump sum benefit amount directly to you in the amount you ve chosen. You are free to use the cash you receive any way you want. Partial benefits. The Plan will pay a 25% benefit for 22 additional conditions, including Huntington s disease, Legionnaire s disease, malaria, multiple sclerosis and tuberculosis. Lower rates if you don t use tobacco. If you certify you are not a tobacco user, you pay a lower premium. Note that you may enroll in Critical Illness Insurance only as a new hire, during Annual Enrollment, or when you have a qualifying life event. Recurring benefits. The plan pays a benefit for the following covered conditions: heart attack, stroke, coronary artery bypass graft, full benefit cancer and partial benefit cancer. This benefit is only available if an initial benefit has been paid for the covered condition. There is a benefit suspension period between recurrences of 180 days. 13
