Glossary of life agreements currently issued 10 Accelerated Benefit Agreement Provides for the early payment of a portion of the death benefit if the insured has a terminal condition. The accelerated benefit is paid as a lien, and lien interest is charged. At the death of the insured, the entire amount of the lien and interest will reduce the death benefit. Any remaining death benefit proceeds will be paid to the beneficiary of the policy. Accidental Death Benefit Agreement Provides for the payment of an additional death benefit if the base insured dies as a result of an accident while the agreement is active. Additional Insurance Agreement Secure Whole Life Provides additional insurance on the life of the insured through a combination of one-year term insurance and paid-up additional insurance. The paid-up additions and one-year term insurance will be combined to try to match an AIA Target Insurance Amount selected by the policyholder. Benefit Distribution Agreement Provides beneficiaries a guaranteed income stream, where clients designate all or a portion of the total benefit amount to be paid to beneficiaries as installment payments. Business Continuation Agreement Upon the death of a designated life, your business clients can increase their death benefit without evidence of insurability. Business Value Enhancement Agreement The Business Value Enhancement Agreement (BVEA) enables a business to maximize the cash surrender value portion of a life insurance policy in the early years of the contract. To do this, it uses a spread of the policy charges and a reduced surrender charge. The policy must be owned by the business and provides it an opportunity to make a single premium payment into a life insurance policy, potentially showing a positive value on the business balance sheet and income statement. Childrens Term Agreement Provides for a death benefit on the lives of the children of the base insured. Corporate Enhanced Values Agreement Supports business owners executive benefit arrangements. CEVA waives surrender charges and may increase the cash surrender value portion of a policy in the early years of the contract with a non-guaranteed Enhancement Benefit. This agreement may decrease or eliminate the gap between the value of the policy and its liability on the business s balance sheet. Death Benefit Guarantee Agreement Provides that the policy will remain in force even if there is no accumulation value to cover monthly charges as long as the DBGA value less any outstanding loan is greater than zero. Death Benefit Guarantee Flex Agreement Provides that the policy will remain in force even if there is no accumulation value to cover monthly charges, as long as the DBGA value is greater than zero and the policy does not have a loan. Early Values Agreement Enables the policy owner to eliminate the surrender charges associated with their policy. Enhanced Guarantee Agreement and Enhanced Guarantee Choice Agreement Provides a stronger guaranteed plan of insurance than normally available on the policy. Estate Preservation Agreement Legacy Protector and Eclipse Survivor Provides for four years of second-to-die insurance coverage. It is active for the first four years of the contract. It is designed to help offset potential estate tax consequences (IRC section 2065) should the second death occur within three years of the policy being transferred to a trust. The EPA benefit is payable even if the policy was never transferred to a trust. Estate Preservation Choice Agreement Eclipse Survivor Provides the right to purchase four-year level term insurance on the life of the Other Insured, without evidence of insurability at the death of the Designated Insured. Allows for the policy to be personally owned rather than trust owned, so that the accumulation value is available for personal use prior to the policyowner s death. Exchange of Insured Agreement Provides for the exchange of one insured for another under the same policy. The policy must be corporateowned by the same corporation before and after the exchange. Extended Maturity Agreement Provides for the continuation of the policy beyond the maturity age, thus protecting the tax benefits of life insurance. First to Die Agreement Provides a specified amount of additional term insurance payable at the first death of either of the two insureds for the policy. Guaranteed Income Agreement 7 Guarantees lifetime income stream for the rest of the insured s life regardless of the policy performance after the GIA has been exercised. Guaranteed Insurability Option Agreement Guarantees the option to purchase an additional policy on the base insured s life, at the insured s attained age and the underwriting class of the policy at the time of the exercise without providing evidence of insurability. Guarantees future increases in protection on a maximum of seven option dates. Coverage increases result in a new Secure Whole Life policy with half the normal policy fee.

Guaranteed Insurability Option for Business Allows business clients to increase coverage up to five times in the future between the ages of 22 and 52 without evidence of insurability. Guaranteed Insurability Option Agreement with Waiver The difference between GIO and GIOW, is that with GIO, if at the time of an option, premiums are being waived due to disability, the new policy cannot have Waiver, nor will the premium on the new policy be waived. With GIOW, if the premiums are being waived due to disability, the waiver of premium agreement will be included on the new policy, and the premiums on the new policy will also be waived. Indexed Loan Agreement Allows policyholders to take a loan against policy values that is charged a fixed rate and credited at a rate determined by the Indexed Loan Account. The credited rate may be higher or lower than the rate charged. This agreement may be added to in-force accumulationfocused IUL policies for no charge. Inflation Agreement (IA) Single Life UL Products Increases the face amount every three years based on increases in the Consumer Price Index (CPI). Interest Accumulation Agreement Provides the ability to increase the death benefit of the policy (by a requested percentage) at each anniversary, to offset the cost associated with financing the premium payments. Long Term Care Agreement An optional agreement on a life insurance contract that is intended to help cover long-term care expenses. The agreement accelerates all or part of the policy s base face amount via a monthly benefit while the insured is deemed chronically ill. Overloan Protection Agreement Provides that your policy will not terminate because of a policy loan, even if the accumulation value is insufficient to cover policy charges. Performance Death Benefit Guarantee Agreement (PDBGA) This agreement provides that the policy will remain in force even if there is no Accumulation Value to cover monthly charges, as long as the Performance Death Benefit Guarantee Agreement (PDBGA) Value, less any outstanding loans, is greater than zero and there is no unpaid policy loan interest. On each policy anniversary, a performance credit calculation will be done and if the performance credit amount is greater than zero, the credit will be added to the PDBGA Value. Policy Split Agreement Provides for a split of the policy into two individual universal life policies if a trigger event occurs. Premium Deposit Account Agreement Allows for the payment of premiums for the life insurance policy on an annual basis, using amounts withdrawn from the premium deposit account. Single Life Term (SLT) Agreement Eclipse Survivor Provides one-year term insurance on one of the specified insureds. SLT can be purchased on one or both of the insureds, so there can be two SLT coverages on a policy. Single Premium Paid-Up Additional Insurance Agreement Provides an option to purchase paid-up additional life insurance on the life of the base insured. Surrender Value Enhancement Agreement Provides that the surrender value of the policy at full surrender will be no less than 100 percent of the cumulative premium payments. Term Insurance Agreement Provides level term insurance for the base insured. If the amount of insurance of the policy is increased to ensure that the policy remains qualified as life insurance under Section 7702 of the code, the term insurance amount will automatically decrease by the amount of the increased insurance on the policy. Likewise, if the amount of insurance of the policy is decreased to ensure that the policy remains qualified as life insurance under Section 7702 of the code, the term insurance amount will automatically increase by the amount of the decreased insurance on the policy. Waiver of Charges Agreement Provides for the payment of all monthly charges by Minnesota Life or Securian Life during the total and permanent disability of the base insured prior to age 60. Waiver of Premium Agreement UL Provides for the payment of premiums by Minnesota Life or Securian Life during the total and permanent disability of the base insured prior to age 60. Waiver of Premium Disability (Term Products) Provides for the payment of premiums by Minnesota Life or Securian Life during the total and permanent disability of a client prior to age 60. Waiver of Premium Disability (Whole Life Products) Provides for the payment of premiums by Minnesota Life or Securian Life during the total and permanent disability of a client prior to age 60. (By company practice, on Secure Whole Life, the agreement terminates at the anniversary nearest the insured s age 65.) Additional agreements may be available. Agreements may be subject to additional costs and restrictions. Agreements may not be available in all states, may exist under a different name in various states and may not be available in combination with other agreements. 11

1 In all states except New York. In New York, policies are issued by Securian Life Insurance Company, a New York authorized insurer. Both companies are headquartered in Saint Paul, MN. Product availability and features may vary by state. Each insurer is solely responsible for the financial obligations under the policies or contracts it issues. 2 Not available in the state of New York. 3 Loans and withdrawals will reduce both the policy cash value and death benefit. 4 Additional agreements may be available. Agreements may be subject to additional costs and restrictions. Agreements may not be available in all states or may exist under a different name in various states. Investment limitations apply for variable contracts using the Death Benefit Guarantee and/or Enhanced Guarantee Choice Agreement. 5 Face amounts under $100,000 are only eligible for Standard class even though full underwriting is required for issue. 6 Depending upon actual policy experience, the owner may need to increase premium payments to keep the policy in force. 7 ETFs entail the same risks as direct stock ownership and ETFs structured as fund of funds will entail the same risks associated with the underlying funds. 8 Policyholders who add the Guaranteed Income Agreement (GIA) should take into consideration that the policy accumulation value on the exercise-effective date may not be sufficient to continue providing the minimum benefit payment until the insured s age 121. If this occurs, it will not be possible to exercise the GIA. We believe the Policy will continue to qualify as life insurance under the Internal Revenue Service Code ( the Code ) after the GIA exercise-effective date, and that distributions and loans made under the terms of the GIA will generally not be taxed to the policyholder. However, the IRS or the courts could reach a different result. Policyholders who have added the GIA should consult a tax advisor regarding the tax treatment of distributions and loans under the GIA. Since the Policy s death benefit will be reduced to the minimum amount allowable under the Code after the exercise-effective date, policyholders should consider the impact on their individual circumstances and their need for death benefit before exercising the GIA. There is no charge for the GIA when the Policy is purchased; however, we will assess a one-time charge against the Policy accumulation value on the exercise-effective date. Life insurance products contain fees, such as mortality and expense charges, and may contain restrictions, such as surrender periods. Variable life insurance products contain additional fees, such as management fees and fund expenses. The variable investment options are subject to market risk, including loss of principal. Policyholders could lose money in this product. This information is a general discussion of the relevant federal tax laws provided to promote ideas that may benefit a taxpayer. It is not intended for, nor can it be used by any taxpayer for the purpose of avoiding federal tax penalties. Taxpayers should seek the advice of their own advisors regarding any tax and legal issues specific to their situation. Guarantees are based on the claims-paying ability of the issuing insurance company. Please keep in mind that the performance of the underlying index may exceed the offered fixed indexed growth caps. Interest crediting within these accounts will vary based on the movement of the investments within the underlying index. Should the index have 0% growth or decline, investors bear the risk that no Index credit will be given to the account.
