DES MOINES INDEPENDENT NOTICE OF LETTING COMMUNITY SCHOOL DISTRICT Document 00030 Page 1 WRIGHT ELEMENTARY SCHOOL KITCHEN RENOVATION NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN: Sealed proposals will be received by the Purchasing Agent of the Des Moines Independent Community School District at his office, Des Moines Independent Community School District, 1915 Prospect Road, Suite 1200, Des Moines, Iowa 50310 until three o'clock p.m. on the 19th day of April, 2018, for the construction/repair and/or installation of the following improvement(s): Bid No. B8183 Wright Elementary School Kitchen Renovation Commencing April 4, 2018 copies of the plans and specifications for the Project are on file with and available from Beeline and Blue 2507 Ingersoll Avenue, Des Moines, Iowa 50312. Bids must be submitted on the approved bid form available in the plans and specifications. No oral, facsimile, telegraphic or telephonic bids or modifications will be considered. Bidders will be required to provide a security deposit, in the form of an approved Bid Bond, cashiers or certified check, or certified share draft in the amount of five percent (5%) of the amount of each bid, in a separate attached envelope. Consideration of the bids received and the award of contract or other action may be made by the Board of Directors of the Des Moines Independent Community School District upon the proposals received in accordance with the law and the plans and specifications at its meeting to be held at 6:00 p.m. on May 1, 2018 in the District Board Room at 1800 Grand Avenue Des Moines Iowa or at any other published and/or posted location of the Board meeting. The Board of Directors may make the award to the lowest responsive, responsible bidder meeting specifications. The right is reserved to reject any or all bids, or any part thereof, and to waive informalities, and to enter into such contract or contracts as shall be deemed in the best interests of the Des Moines Independent Community School District. The successful firm will be notified on April 20, 2018. A contract purchase order will be provided from the Des Moines Public Schools. 8. Upon receipt of the contract purchase order the contractor shall provide submittals on all materials and equipment. 9. Bid shall exclude all sales and use taxes. The District will provide exemption certificates. 10. Employees, and subcontractors will be considered at all times employees and subcontractors of the Contractor, nothing in this solicitation will be construed as creating an employment relationship with the District. 11. The successful firm shall submit an insurance certificate meeting the insurance requirements of the attached summary document. Bid security (bid bond) is required only if bid amount exceeds $135,000. 13. 100% performance and payment bonds are required on the school district forms at the time of the contract purchase order, from the successful contractor. Include the cost of these bonds in the bid price. 14. Payments will be made once a month based upon percentage of work completed. A 5% retainage will be withheld until acceptance of all work by the Owner and its Consultant. 15. Contractor shall fully clean up the project site of all debris from their work. 16. Contractor shall furnish and install barricades and other safety measures as required. 17. Contractor shall obtain and pay for all city permits required for the project. 18. The building will not have school in session during the time frame of this contract, but there will be activities in other areas of the building during the project timeline. 19. The work shall begin June 1, 2018 and be substantially complete by August 15, 2018, fully completed by October 1,2018. 3
