Quantum Liquid Fund (QLF) The bond market continued the positive momentum backed by record low CPI print of 2.99% for the month of April. US treasury yields fell sharply below 2.20% intraday, factoring in the political risk over Trump s presidency. This further fuelled the bond rally in Indian markets. Yields fell sharply across the curve with major fall noted in 10-15 years segment due to increased demand for duration. The 10 year benchmark bond closed the week at 6.85% vs 6.90% in previous week. Given the normal monsoon projections, softer crude oil prices and INR appreciation, we expect inflation trajectory to remain muted in first half of FY 17 and likely to average around 3%. However it can again move up in second half on back of some reversal in food prices, HRA hike under 7 th pay commission and GST implementation. In near term, market may start pricing some easing by RBI in coming policy and lead to lower bond yields; however in medium term rates are likely to move upward following global reflation and reversal in inflation trajectory in domestic market. Portfolio Strategy We remain neutral on the bond markets over the medium term as RBI s target of 4% CPI looks difficult to achieve on sustainable basis as commodity prices could again pickup on back of improving growth outlook in developed countries, hike in HRA allowance under 7 th pay commission and GST implementation. Normalization of monetary policies in advanced economies and geo-political tensions pose additional risk of outflows from emerging markets. However, considering the fall in crude prices, INR appreciation and lower inflation trajectory, we are positive on bond market in near term as market valuation looks attractive at current levels. As on 19th May 2017, Quantum Liquid Fund (QLF) had a portfolio average maturity of 33 days and yield to maturity of 6.23%. *YTM is including net current assets Credit Exposures: With QLF comprising of G-secs, T-bills and PSU securities in majority, credit risk is minimal.
