Services (Stock Selection) India (Stock Selection) BEC World Public Co., Information Technology Ltd.(Alien Mkt) (Stock Selection) Thailand (Stock Selection) HDFC Bank Limited Financials Car manufacturer Brilliance China Automotive rallied. The company, which has a joint venture with German luxury sedan maker BMW, posted a jump in its first-half earnings as sales of BMW vehicles increased. We expect Brilliance China to benefit from China s growing demand for premium cars over the long term. Within materials, cement maker Semen Indonesia saw its first-half earnings surge as its move to raise prices helped improve margins. Financials stock HDFC Bank lost ground; the India-based lender announced the resignation of its deputy managing director, a veteran at the company. Outlook & Strategy Macroeconomic factors including mounting global trade tensions, a stronger US dollar and rising interest rates have been primary contributors to market volatility this year. During such periods, EM equities generally face heightened risk aversion and indiscriminate selling, often at the expense of solid fundamentals. Similar pressures confront Asian stocks. 1. All holdings are subject to change. Holdings of the same issuers have been combined.

As long-term investors, we attempt to look past short-term market turbulence to identify sustainable value in Asian equities. We tap our stockpicking skills to choose amongst the varied opportunities that Asia offers and build well-diversified portfolios that seek to avoid excessive risks. Overall, we have a constructive view on Asia, which is operating in an environment of solid economic growth and stable commodity prices. Asian currencies in general are attractively valued, in our opinion. Many Asian countries have also emerged from past crises with more robust institutions and economic policies, stronger finances, lower inflation and smaller near-term financing requirements than before.
