pwc.blogs.com/northern-ireland/ Technical Update Seminar 2018 Friday 19 October PwC in Northern Ireland

Earning the digital dividend accounting for tomorrow s world Welcome to a 24/7, always-on, cloud-enabled digital world, where Blockchain makes contracts obsolete, drones and data analytics are informing the future of audit; and where machine learning means that robots will take, at least, some of our jobs. This is the world where it took 42 months for Facebook to get to 50 million users and where 52% of Fortune 500 companies that were around in 2000 have vanished. A world where complacency is the prerogative of those destined to be the next generation of Dodos. PwC s 2018 Technical Update Seminar will explore how businesses and undertakings can plan for this unknown future. The Seminar will cover financial accounting, tax and employment law updates, current issues on audit and risk assurance, GDPR compliance, as well as our economic and Brexit update and a comprehensive review of the changing landscape for digital accounting. Join us for the 2018 Technical Update Seminar and see how accounting for tomorrow s world today, can help deliver a digital dividend. Programme Economic Update: Dr David Armstrong will provide an overview of the current economic climate facing NI businesses. Brexit horizon planning: Former cabinet minister Michael Moore will provide an update on the current state of the Brexit negotiations and parliamentary proceedings; highlight how businesses and other organisations across the UK are preparing for late March 2019, and set out some of the key no regret steps which can be taken now to prepare for the most likely outcomes. Technology and accounting, digital disruption and the accountant: Tony Price will discuss making tax digital, GDPR, the rise of the robots! What does this really mean for us? The workforce of the future, preparing for tomorrow: Lois Stapleton will look at how the world of work is changing and how organisations can enhance their people strategy to position themselves for success in the future. UK Financial Accounting update: Kieron Mudge will provide a general accounting technical update session covering most recent developments in FRS 102, IFRS, Company Law and more. Taxation update: Aine O Hare, Michael McNeill and Craig Harrison will give updates on Corporate Tax, Indirect Tax and Employment Tax. NI employment law: Mairiosa McDaniel will cover requirements for gender pay gap reporting and provide practical guidance on what organisations can do now to get ready for the statutory reporting requirements. A review of the continued scrutiny of self-employed arrangements via case law connected with the gig economy, as well as topical case-law decisions which could impact on our local businesses. Date and venue Friday 19 October 9.00am 4.30pm Hilton Hotel, Templepatrick
