Group Risk 8 Our Group Risk Solutions The philosophy that Liberty Life follows in designing employee benefits is centred on simplicity, affordability and the ability to offer competitive and relevant benefits. Product Group Life Assurance Permanent & Total Disability Description Event Death Losing a loved one is never easy and it can become even more difficult if those left behind experience financial strain as a result of this loss. Group Life Assurance (GLA) provides life cover payable as a lump sum on the death of the member to their beneficiaries. GLA provides the member, and SEC, with the peace of mind that the member s family will be taken care of if they are no longer there to support them. Event Disability The Permanent & Total Disability benefit pays a lump sum in the event of a permanent disability of the member before retirement. The Permanent & Total Disability benefit must be taken together with the GLA benefit. Permanent Health Insurance Event Temporary Disability The Permanent Health Insurance benefit provides member with a monthly income, in the event of them becoming disabled and unable to work.
Group Risk 9 Critical Illness Event Defined critical illness such as cancer Critical Illness benefits provide cover for the costs associated with living with a life-altering illness by providing a lump sum payment on the diagnosis of a stated critical illness. The Critical Illness benefit must be taken together with the Group Life Assurance benefit. Group Funeral Event Death The Funeral benefit pays out a lump sum in the event of the death of the member, spouse, children or extended family member (if applicable) before the retirement of the employee. Family Support Tombstone Event Death The days following bereavement are very often the most trying for a family. The Family Support benefit provides a lump sum on the death of the member or their immediate family. This helps the family deal with urgent costs associated with funeral expenses as well as assisting with the living expenses following the loss of the breadwinner in the family. Event Death The Tombstone benefit pays a lump sum on the death of the member to aid in providing a tombstone and for the cost of the unveiling ceremony. Temporary and Total Disability Event Disability\ Temporary income disability benefit is a monthly benefit that is payable for a limited period. The core purpose of this benefit is to protect the member against the loss of earnings or earning potential, if he or she becomes disabled and is unable to work for a limited period
