The traditional fixed interest options available to previous generations may no longer provide enough growth to keep pace with inflation much less help grow a legacy. Persistent low interest rates have caused many individuals to seek a new opportunity for growth. The BalancedChoice Annuity (BCA ) can help you protect and grow your retirement savings. BCA offers the opportunity for growth based in part on the performance of a market index such as the S&P 500 while protecting you from downside market risk. Plus, BCA growth is tax-deferred to help you potentially accumulate even more assets for retirement. Protection for today and tomorrow The FamilyEndowment Rider with Premium Bonus ( FamilyEndowment Rider ), an optional rider available with the BCA for an additional charge, offers a guaranteed Enhanced Death Benefit that grows at a 4% compound annual interest rate. 1 This rate will lower to 2% if the FamilyEndowment Rider is used with the BalancedAllocation Lifetime Income Rider. Beneficiaries receive the greater of the Cash Surrender Value, Balanced Allocation Value or Enhanced Death Benefit value. You also have the ability to take withdrawals from the contract to help cover retirement expenses. Withdrawals reduce the Enhanced Death Benefit value on a dollar-for-dollar basis for the first 4% of the Accumulation Value withdrawn. 2 Dollarfor-dollar withdrawals can help you potentially create a larger legacy. If you are concerned about low interest rates and are looking for a solution that offers both guarantees and growth potential, consider putting the BCA with the FamilyEndowment Rider to work for your retirement. 1 The 4% annual Enhanced Death Benefit interest rate applies for a minimum of 8 years or up to age 80, whichever is longer. After this term, the benefit will not grow any further but will continue to be in place, less withdrawals, subject to the terms of the rider. 2 If withdrawals exceed 4% of the Accumulation Value amount at the beginning of the contract year, any excess withdrawals will reduce the Enhanced Death Benefit proportionally. 2

Robert and Linda Age 65 Objective: Robert and Linda are about to retire and are looking for a way to grow their legacy while providing a supplemental source of income in retirement. Solution: Robert decided to use $100,000 to purchase a BCA with the FamilyEndowment Rider. During the first 25 years of retirement, Robert withdrew $2,500 each year to help pay retirement expenses, a total of $60,000. Grow and protect your legacy Fixed indexed annuities A fixed indexed annuity is a contract issued by an insurance company. In exchange for your premium, the insurance company provides the opportunity for growth based in part on the performance of an underlying index while protecting your money from downside market risk. All guarantees are backed by the claims-paying ability of the issuing carrier. This contract has charges and limitations. For costs and complete details, please refer to the BCA product brochure and inserts and call your licensed agent. Explanation of rider The BCA offers a patent-pending FamilyEndowment Rider to help ensure a legacy to your beneficiaries. The rider guarantees a death benefit that pays a minimum amount equal to your initial premium accumulated at a specified interest rate (minus withdrawals). With the FamilyEndowment Rider, your beneficiary will receive the greater of the base contract death benefit or the benefit provided by the rider. The Premium Bonus rider provides a one-time bonus, which enhances the Accumulation Value. The annual rider charge of 0.85% (0.50% if the bonus is not elected) is calculated at the beginning of every contract year based on the Enhanced Death Benefit Crediting Base multiplied by the annual rider charge rate. The charge is deducted at the beginning of each month at the rate of 1/12th of the annual rider charge from the Accumulation Value and Minimum Guaranteed Contract Value until the Rider Charge Stop Date. Please refer to the Disclosure Summary and any applicable rate sheets for current allocations and charges. Additional optional riders are available that are not shown in this hypothetical case study. Tax considerations The FamilyEndowment Rider is not life insurance, and any benefit payable under the rider will be taxable. Any withdrawals taken may be subject to federal and state income tax. Withdrawals made before age 59½ may be subject to a 10% federal tax penalty. The information contained herein is based on our understanding of current tax law. Termination The FamilyEndowment Rider cannot be terminated once it has been purchased and attached to the BCA contract. The rider will terminate only upon the Annuity Date or upon payment of a death benefit under the provisions of the contract. Withdrawals The first 4% of the Accumulation Value withdrawn in each contract year will reduce the Enhanced Death Benefit on a dollar-for-dollar basis. Withdrawals in excess of 4% in a contract year will reduce the Enhanced Death Benefit proportionally. If the BalancedAllocation Lifetime Income Rider was also elected, this rate will be reduced to 2%. Dollar-for-dollar withdrawals for each contract year are calculated using the Accumulation Value from the beginning of that contract year. Withdrawals will also reduce the Accumulation Value of your contact. Withdrawals or values that vary from those shown in these hypothetical examples will produce different results. Any amount withdrawn above 5% of your Accumulation Value in the first year or 10% of the Accumulation Value any following year will be subject to a Withdrawal Charge, which is applied by multiplying the percentage from the table below (based on the number of completed years in the contract) by the amount of the excess withdrawal. If the Premium Bonus is elected, a 9% Recapture Charge will also be applied.
