York college fund Spotlight 1 ) W H A T I S Y O U R P O S I T I O N W I T H I N T H E Y O R K C O L L E G E F U N D, A N D W H A T E X A C T L Y D O Y O U D O? I work as the Assistant Director of the York College Fund, charged with running the Phonathon Calling Program, YCP Day of Giving, and advising the Senior Class Executive Board. I collaborate with my colleagues in the York College Fund, and the overall Advancement Department, to ensure that all of our constituents ( alumni, parents, friends, students) feel and stay connected to the College, while also working to raise necessary funds to support students. These funds provide budget relief for the College and ensure that YCP students' experience can continue to grow and improve. 2 ) W H Y I S I T I M P O R T A N T F O R A L U M N I T O S T A Y C O N N E C T E D A F T E R G R A D U A T I O N? Alumni called YCP home for four, transformative years, and we make sure that they continue to feel apart of the YCP family even after they leave campus. Alumni are very important to the College - without the philanthropic support of our alumni through volunteering and donating, we would not be the College we are today. When alumni stay connected to the College, they 1) impart wisdom about life in the real world to students. 2 ) Help students receive internships and jobs by working with the Career Development Office and attending networking events. 3) Represent the quality of a YCP education by excelling in their careers and paving the way for future YCP grads. 4) Donate funds to the College to ensure that the educational and extracurricular experience of current students is not only maintained, but enhanced as York grows and changes with time. E L I Z A B E T H B U R N S F R E Y ASSISTANT DIRECTOR- YORK COLLEGE FUND 3 ) W H A T I S T H E I M P O R T A N C E O F M A K I N G A S E N I O R C L A S S G I F T? The Senior Class Gift touches every area of campus. No matter your major or extracurricular activities, your time at York was made better by previous seniors' gifts. The Senior Class Gift gives students the chance to continue the tradition of Spartans supporting Spartans and give future generations of students the same opportunities and unique experiences you had. 4 ) W H E R E W E R E Y O U P R E V I O U S L Y B E F O R E Y O R K, A N D W H A T D I D Y O U D O? Previously, I worked in the Advancement Office of my alma mater, Ursinus College. Throughout my time there, I wore a few different hats - from planning homecomings, reunions and other alumni events, to working with the Young Alumni Council to starting and advising a student philanthropy organization on campus. 5 ) W H A T S Y O U R F A V O R I T E M E M O R Y S O F A R A T Y C P? My favorite memory of YCP so far is probably First Year Student Move In Day. Since I joined the YCP team in late May, Move In Day was the first day I had seen so many students on campus and really got to see what York would feel like when everyone is back! I love Move In Days because they mark such a big moment in a student's life and really kicks off their next four years - so I love getting to be a part of the welcoming committee. Also, this was the first time I got to eat in the dining hall and those brick oven cookies changed my life! 0 2

What is "Philanthropy"? PHILANTHROPY 1.) goodwill to fellow members of the human race 2.) an act or gift done or made for humanitarian purposes Synonyms: benefaction, beneficence, charity, donation, contribution People often talk about the three "T's" of Philanthropy - Time, Talent and Treasure. At York, we have alumni and parents who give back to the College in a variety of philanthropic ways: T a l e n t : Sharing their career knowledge as guest speakers in a class T i m e : Volunteering to help register attendees at a campus event T r e agrand s u r e : TOTAL Giving a monetary gift, of any size, $ to 150,000.00 the York College Fund 0 4

Y o u n g a l u m n i t i p s I continue to support and stay involved with YCP, because it is imperative that we give back. Making sure we remain connected to an institution that has given us, myself included so many opportunities, I feel it is my responsibility to help make sure current students and alumni know about all of the wonderful attributes York College has to offer. ~CJ Weigle Executive Administrator North Hills Home Improvement Center President, Young Alumni Council 5 t i p s f o r ( s o o n t o b e ) Y o u n g a l u m n i : 1 2 3 4 5 Stay connected with faculty and fellow classmates. You never know who you may need to call upon one day. Don t settle, always be working towards your next goal. Surround yourself with people who want to succeed just as much as you do. Positive energy is wonderful. Make sure you give back, and stay humble. It s important to remember that we have a responsibility to help others. Make sure to find time to relax, working hard is great but enjoying life is also important. And will help you stay focused on your goals. 0 5
