General Information Acting The summer camps are centered on providing your child with a fun and educational three week process in the art of theatre. This camp focuses on the acting rehearsal process. All students will learn the fundamentals of the performance process of theatre/dance culminating in a live performance for family and friends on the last day of the camp. These camps require a great deal of dedication and discipline from all students involved. Each camp will be supervised by a UTEP faculty member with many years of experience and education. In addition, UTEP students will be assisting the UTEP faculty members in order to provide your child with more one-on-one instruction. The camps will have a performance on the final day of the camp. We may be asking your child to bring in a few supplemental pieces for their costume for the show; we will notify you with plenty of time and the items will not be damaged. Technical Theatre The goal of UTEP Summer Tech Camp is to serve local junior and senior high school students who are interested in technical theatre by creating an environment and opportunity to learn and practice the craft of technical theatre. Students will learn basic skills of scenery, costume and lighting, and put them to practice working alongside UTEP s technical theatre majors for our summer student production. We do take a snack break everyday your child is more than welcome to bring a snack or some money to purchase a snack. We recommend that your child bring a healthy snack and beverage to maintain energy throughout the camp. Also, at times, the theatre can be a little chilly; you may want to send a light sweater with your child. Please be aware that only bottled water is allowed inside the theatre. Attendance and punctuality are VERY important; if a child needs to miss camp days, please notify the camp instructor ASAP: adrianad@utep.edu (beginning acting), rrivas2@utep.edu (advanced acting), htsutsui2@utep.edu (technical theatre). Missing multiple days will result in your child s role being replaced.
