National Competences National focal point and the coordinator of issues related to climate change in Turkey Responsible for the harmonization of national environmental legislation with EU acquis and its implementation. Executer of climate change activities under the interministerial Coordination Board on Climate Change (CBCC)*. Turkish Statistical Institute (TurkStat) is responsible for coordinating and compiling the greenhouse gases inventory. *The CBCC is also responsible for fulfilling the requirements of UNFCCC obligations
Objective and purpose of the project OBJECTIVE To support Turkey in its efforts to contribute efficiently and effectively to the EU effort to achieve the stabilization of greenhouse gas concentrations in the atmosphere at a level which prevents dangerous anthropogenic interference with the climate system PURPOSE To provide the essential elements for the establishment and contribute to a fully functioning monitoring mechanism of greenhouse gas emissions in Turkey, in line with the EU Regulation 525/2013/EU on Monitoring and Reporting Mechanism for GHG emissions
