Schools Travel Insurance Policy Summary This policy summary outlines the main features and significant exclusions and does not contain the full terms and conditions of the insurance contract. The full terms and conditions are provided in the Policy Wording. Please ensure you read the Policy Wording, together with the Schedule of Benefits. The Policy Wording is available from your insurance broker or from Alpha Underwriting Limited on request. A significant exclusion is something that may affect your decision as to whether the policy is suitable for you. There is also additional information included that may be of help to you.

The table below sets out the significant benefits and exclusions of your Policy. The policy includes many other benefits. Please read your Policy Wording to make sure that the cover is suitable for you. Schools Travel Insurance: This insurance provides financial protection and medical assistance under the following categories: Medical Expenses Hospitalisation Funeral Expenses Personal Accident Cancellation Curtailment Political Evacuation Employee Replacement Travel Disruption Travel Delay Personal Property Delayed Property Money Passport Rental Vehicle Excess Search and Rescue Hi-Jack and Kidnap Legal Expenses Personal Liability Scheduled Airline Failure Leisure Travel

Schools Travel Insurance Document Version 2.0 Page 4 of 7 Significant Exclusions and Limitations The full list of exclusions and benefit limitations is included in the Policy Wording. The following are significant exclusions or limitations: General Exclusions 1 Any claim resulting directly from alcohol, non-prescribed drugs or solvents (not for the treatment of drug addiction). 2 Claims arising out of any trip which is booked or commenced by an Insured Person contrary to medical advice. 3 Any claim directly caused by or indirectly arising from a) suicide or intentional self injury or b) or the Insured Person s own criminal act 4 Any travel to Afghanistan, Chechnya, DRC, Iraq, Israel, (Gaza and the West Bank only) and Somalia. Cancellation and Curtailment and Medical Expenses exclude claims for: 1 Treatment or surgery which Our medical advisers and the doctor treating them believe is not essential or could wait until return home. 2 Any expenses incurred more than 12 months after the date of the incident which gave rise to the claim. 3 Any expenses in respect of treatment which could have been reasonably delayed until return to the United Kingdom. 4 Claims caused directly or indirectly by the following: a) An Insured Person s personal decision not to travel. b) If an Insured Person fails to get a valid passport, Visa or other travel documents he/she needs. 5 Any claims arising out of any contingency that had occurred, commenced or been announced before this Policy was effected. Travel Delay and Disruption exclude claims for: 1 Contingencies that had already started or been forecast before the Trip was booked or the Insurance was effected, whichever is the later. 2 Any claim arising directly or indirectly out of the Insured Person s failure to check in according to the itinerary supplied to the Insured Person. 3 Any claim caused by the tour operator, or any other provider of transport and accommodation, stopping trading. Personal Property, Money and Passport exclude claims for: 1 Any loss and/or theft not reported to the police within 24 hours of discovery, and a police statement obtained. 2 Any loss arising out of electrical and/or mechanical breakdown. Scheduled Airline Failure exclude claims for: 1 Scheduled flights not booked within the United Kingdom. 2 Scheduled flights not booked through a bonded travel agent or direct with a scheduled airline. Legal Expenses and Public Liability exclude claims for: 1 You must obtain written consent from Us prior to incurring legal expenses. We will give prior consent if the Inured satisfies the Us that: a) there are reasonable grounds for pursuing the legal proceedings and it is reasonably likely that such an action shall be successful; and b) it is reasonable for legal expenses to be provided in a particular case 2 We reserve the right to withdraw at any stage and thereafter they shall not be liable for any further expenses. 3 Any claim arising out of Bodily Injury to any member of an Insured Person s family or household or to any Employee. 4 Employer s liability or liability caused by You or an Insured Person carrying out contracts, supplying goods and services, or doing an Insured Person s profession, occupation or business. Schools Travel Insurance Document Version 2.0 Page 5 of 7 Period of Insurance The period beginning with the effective date and ending with the expiry date as shown in the policy schedule and any other period for which premium has been accepted. This Insurance is to cover trips taken for and on behalf of the Insured, commencing during the period of insurance. This Insurance is extended to include the Insured Persons whilst camping on the premises of the participating establishment that they are registered to attend. Cover for cancellation starts from the date the trip is booked or the effective date shown on your Certificate of Insurance, whichever is the later. All other sections commence when you leave your usual place of residence or business (whichever the later), during the whole time away and until you return home, or place of employment (whichever occurs first). What Law is Applicable? In the absence of any agreement in writing to the contrary this Policy is governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of England and Wales. Any dispute relating to this Policy will be subject to the jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales. How long does the policy provide cover for? The insurance contract runs from the effective date to the expiry date as shown in the Certificate of Insurance, usually for a period of 12 months. Cancellation We may cancel this Policy by giving 30 days notice in writing to You at Your last known address. If We give You such notice then You shall become entitled to a proportionate return of the premium. You may cancel this Policy by giving Us 30 days notice in writing. If You give such notice, and providing no claim has been paid or is payable and no incident has occurred which could give rise to a claim under this Policy, the premium for the period up to the date when the cancellation takes effect will be calculated and any unearned portion of the premium paid will be returned, subject to a minimum retention by Us of 500 or 25% of the annual premium whichever is the greater. If the annual premium is less than 500, then the minimum retention by Us will be 25% of the annual premium.

Schools Travel Insurance Document Version 2.0 Page 6 of 7 Claims When something happens which is likely to give rise to a claim under this policy, an Insured Person must notify the Scheme Administrator in writing as soon as reasonably possible after it happens and, in any case, within 90 days. Such notice shall include full details of the event. Further details will be provided at the appropriate stage of the complaints process. Following the complaints procedure with the FOS does not affect Your rights to take legal action. Financial Services Compensation Scheme We are covered by the Financial Services Compensation Scheme. You and/or an Insured Person may be entitled to compensation from the Scheme if We are unable to meet Our obligations to You and/or an Insured Person under this contract. If You and/or an Insured Person are entitled to compensation under the Scheme, the level and extent of the compensation would depend on the nature of this contract.
