Regulatory framework on employment The term earnings will be defined in the Employment Rights Act Existing ratios of foreign to local citizens for the different sectors will be reviewed Work permits to local based enterprises will be issued on the basis of scarcity Foreign nationals will fall within the ambit of the levy, National Pension Fund ( NPF ) and National Savings Fund. This measure will not apply to employees in the Export Oriented Enterprises. A refund mechanism will apply for the NPF contribution once the foreign national terminates his employment in Mauritius Page 29
