TOWN OF THE CITY OF CHAMPAIGN TOWNSHIP ORDINANCE NO 11 04-01 COMPENSATION ORDINANCE WHEREAS, pursuant to Article W, section 9 of the Illinois Constitution 1970, the compensation of an elected Township official may not be increased or decreased during the official's term of office, Ill. Const. Art VII. Sec. 9 (1970); and WHEREAS, the positions of Supervisor, Township Trustees and Assessor of the Town of the City of Champaign Township (Township) are elective positions within the meaning of Article W, Section 9 of the Illinois Constitution of 1970, Ill. Const. Art. VII Sec. 9 (1970); and WHEREAS, the positions of Supervisor and Assessor of the Township will be voted upon at the consolidated election to be held on April 5,2005; and WHEREAS, new terms of office for the positions of Supervisor and Township Trustees of the Township are due to commence on May 2,2005, and new te,rm of office for the position of Assessor of the Township is due to commence on January 1,2006,60 Illinois Complied Statutes 1/50; and WHEREAS, said terms of office are for four (4) years duration, 60 Illinois Compiled Statutes 1150-15; and WHEREAS, the Board of~own Trustees of the Tpwnship must establish the compensation for each new term of office at least 180 days prior to the beginning of the term of such ofice, 50 Illinois Compiled Statutes 14512.

That the compensation herein above provided for shall be paid to the Supervisor and Assessor of the Township in equal monthly installments during the year in which such compensation is paid. That, in addition to the compensation herein above provided, the Supervisor and Assessor of the Township shall be provided health insurance on the same terms and conditions provided heretofore, namely such insurance as is provided to City of Champaign employees, with the premium for individual coverage and, if selected, onehalf of the family coverage paid by the Township and one half of family coverage paid by the official.
